Little tip: if tent is already set up and want to add the fly, lay out the fly over the top. Start zipping it on but when it’s out of reach tie a guide rope onto the zipper and pull it across to the other side. Cause the fly to zip on nicely. Untie the rope. Same to take off just opposite, happy camping
Great review and we are glad there is a Drifta shop in the EU now. We have a RV5 with all the thinkable extra’s. We took the tent to France, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Portugal and we enjoy it on every trip. To attach the Fly Sheeth when the tent is set up, simply take a 100 cm piece of cord and loop it tru the YKK runner and walk behind the tent and zip the Sheet. Kind regards from The Netherlands.
We've just bought an Oztent RV5 and will be heading off to give it a test run over the Anzac Day long weekend. Can't wait! Love your videos and all your gear. Keep it coming.
Just bought my first Oz tent a few months ago and worth the expense. All I need to do now is move down to Australia so I can get all those well thought out accessories as I cant find them in the UK. Great video enjoyed watching. Cheers
I'm from the U.K. I shall shortly be receiving the upgraded Drifta poles from Europe Czech Republic. Got them through www.Drifta.eu at the time of writing this they had not updated the website to show these poles on there site. They should be doing that soon. I made an enquiry about them and they sent me some. All the best. David.
Helpful information from a fella who actually uses this stuff, not just a marketing commercial. Thanks Luke I bought my 1st Oz Tent (RS 1) as they are not that popular here in the States. I've yet to actually use it but I love the 30 second pitch
I have the fly ,it stopped every bit of condensation, also in summer it makes it cooler , we’ve had our oztent for 10 years, taken it to Tasmania and right up to top of qld , only thing wrong is the bag, mine has basically disintegrated handles, I like your idea of the vinyl bag,
Very nice tents. I believe they sell Oz tents here in Europe as well. Looks like a Baker tent which is also common here and are specially designed to have a fire in front of them. Drying the canvas is a pain though, but in my opinion the best fabric there is for tents.
I have the drifta bag for my RV5 and replacement poles waiting to be picked up tomorrow from the delivery depot! The crab claw spreaders will make setup even easier!
Hi, I would like to know where to get two spreader bars for my tag-along Oztent. I have the fox wing awning and do not like the sag when you zip the tent to the awning. I live in the US. Thank you.
Excellent review and suggestions. Unfortunately this is a tent which doesn't pack small and wouldn't fit in my Hilux extracab... Hope Oztent will develop a dome safari tent sooner or later: The poles are great and certainly buy them.
I've clocked up over 300 nights snow heat severe storms in my rv4 I've found virtually no difference with the fly on or off if you keep those top front windows open there's no condensation at all plus i run little fan
Thanks very informative video ....its a costly outlay but certainly worth every cent...one day I hope to have one till then its the poor womans dome tent
Hamish Comrie yes you can. There’s a bloke that does a review on RU-vid called “ultimate Foxwing setup” or something along those lines. He uses the Drifta poles on it
hi Robert, we working on it to set up a distribution around the states. Will take a few months but we will get some stock over to LA and will be able to send the poles out from there.
you changed the eyelets on the awning to fit the new poles with the larger spigot, you also used new poles on the fly, does that mean you also changed the eyelets on the fly ? So in total 6 new eyelets ?
Hi Joel, you dont need the poles really for the fly. the standard oztent poles will do the job ok. but yes I think needs to change over the fly as well. Thanks Jake
@@Schimmel860 thx mate. Just noticed he discussed changing front eyelets but not back ones but used the larger poles for back fly as well. I also got a response from drifta directly stating the same thing, larger spigots and poles used for awning but not necessary with fly as the crab claw spreader bar fits the standard poles which i didn't know. Cheers
