Hey guys here's our real time set up and run down on the Oztent RV5. If you're after more info feel free to leave a comment and we'll do our best to answer any questions We hope you enjoy it! More on our Instagram air.down?h...
Took me a minute to realize this is indeed an RV5 and not a an RV3... you're just a giant! ; ) We love ours (have both an RV3 and RV5). Would not camp without them.
Awesome review guys , answered many questions about the tent . Many thanks , hope you both continue on with more video's, best luck and health for the future . Cheers and cold beers from Kalgoorlie Boulder western Australia.
Great review guys. What an awesome camp spot! I've had my RV5 for about a year and love it! Got the same drifta bag and poles, so much easier to pack away. Haven't bothered getting a fly yet as I only go away for 1-2 nighters. The side panels are handy though I usually chuck one side up for a wind block
Great review guys! We love our RV5 too. We have the drifta kit also. We really like the oztent mesh floor - reckon you would too . We have been on the fence about getting the side panels, sometimes they may be useful for privacy or a wind break, but can't seem to fully justify it. The fly is a bit of a pain, but will probably ensure the tent lasts a lifetime. Our rule at thumb is one night - no fly, and if two nights or more - we put up the fly. Also we use the zempire monstamats too. Keep up the great work. Subscribed. Cheers.
The tent looks awesome and makes for an easy gate away weekend! And also, Nate is a giant when standing besides the lifted Hilux! 😂 Much love from Norway! ❤
Great Review, I'm looking at the same RV5 with the Fox Wing Awning off the Truck and Side walls for one large enclosure. With my 3 pups I need the RX-5 Deluxe.
Great review guys thanks. Just got an rv4 and looking forward to getting out and about.an you leave your bedding in the tent during the day, or does the condensation drip on it and make it damp? Or can you leave window open to let it evaporate?
I think the easy setup for that much overhead space is a good investment. The only thing that bothers me is the length for transportation but this trade off seems worthwhile.
Good review! My wife and I have had an Oz Tent RV 5 for about 14 years and swear by it, the only con as you say is its 2m long, otherwise easily the best touring tent around. We were looking closely at the Blackwolf Turbo 240 Tent, but might just buy another RV3 or RV4 to use in conjunction with our Hybrid Van. Love your Hilux setup also, what canopy is that?
Really nice video guys! Will likely be ordering one for my little family soon 🙂 Do you mind sharing where this campsite was? Looks beautiful! I’m keen for camping at Kosciusko over summer
Also, with the double stretcher would you realistically be able to run it front to back (as opposed to side to side like in the video) We need room for a porta cot also 🙂
Thanks mate we like to keep these spots quiet but flick me a message on Instagram 😉 As far as the stretcher goes you can run it front to back with your heads at the door. We did that the first time we used it and it was beautiful on a hot night with the front canvas open. Great view up into the stars too 👌
We sold it before purchasing the Bush Company we had. Honestly I'd go the RV for winter at least if you pack it up with condensation your bedding won't get wet. Plus you can leave it set up and go for a drive 👍
Thanks mate. We used the Zempire double but currently just using a Monstamatt mattress on the ground and it works really well. Stretcher will make a return for snow camps though. It’s good to be up off the ground.
Next time you’re out, would you mind measuring up the space between the stretcher and the side wall ? We’re tryna figure out a setup that works with our border collie x mastiff pup’s soft crate. He’s a pretty big bloke so struggling a bit to find something suitable
It definitely makes a difference to condensation in cold climates although not a big one. I prefer to run it without the fly as it's a lot easier to set up
I think it just refers to the initial folding out and lifting up not the other 15 minutes of pegs, poles, and ropes. A little misleading but I think that's why they went away from the 30sec name
Yes definitely wouldn't want much more than an inch of snow on it. We have gone back to the swag for the latest winter camps. Hopefully picking up another rooftop tent soon.
