Damn Danno!.. I need to get one of those! That is a pretty wild hack..... I think you would be horrified to work with Eric and I... Most of our bolts come from a coffee can and are rusty, half rounded off, and mismatched. I respect that clean work you do
You maybe able to rotate the original base plate 45 degrees that will change the bolt patters from X to a cross. Check it out it might work for you. It did for me. I have the Wen 4214T and have the harbor freight cross vise, similar patter. Best Regards and great video.
I like your idea. I have a similar "Milling" style vise bolted to my table, but my Drill press is a floor-standing model. If you want to drill in a panel or piece of wood too large for the vise, and do not want to remove the milling vise I clamp a large block with a sacrificial panel attached on top. The vise drill press combo is not well suited to conventional milling. I tried. The drill press just does not have the mass and rigidity necessary. I got lots of chatter and really poor results. Some who try damage their drill presses. Keep making videos and sharing.
