In this video, I talk about rechargeable tool batteries and how I discovered that many batteries on the market are often the shape and profile, which means they fit vice versa to your power tools (often non big name brands)
I purchased a Silverline 10.8v drill as I wanted a drill I could specifically use in conjunction with my scrubbing brush head attachments for details cleaning jobs and a drill that was smaller, more compact and a dedicated task tool only.
I have had many silverline power tools in the past, and I am extremely happy with their reliability, cost, and build
B&Q often stock them, which shows confidence in the brand over many generic Chinese options you'd see with a quick search on Amazon.
late last year, I found a random discounted price listing for the 10.8v Wickes in-house branded batteries that were only £1 each as they were clearance items.
I quickly jumped into action and purchased the last 6 remaining batteries within my local wickes store with the intention of stripping them apart for their high quality Samsung INR 25R 18650 batteries which were going to be used within a diy powerbank that I never got round to using.
When I purchased my drill, it only came with one battery. When I unpackaged the drill, I recognised the shape of the OEM Silverline battery with another brand I swore I had seen before.
I quickly ran to my cupboard, where I store all of my electronics kit and rummaged around and pulled out the Wickes batteries that I brought and tested the fit on the drill and discovered I'd been lucky when purchasing the job lot of batteries from Wickes.
motto of the story.... it's always worth searching the Internet for similar items and taking into consideration the price of production as many manufacturers use the same tooling and moulds to keep costs down
