Wish I had searched youtube before wasting money on a glass and tile drill that is useless for porcelain. Oh well back to Bunnings for the diamond core bit. Thanks for the informative video

i tried the same red diamond drill,,,,,,,,,,good for 10 holes,and it took 8 min for 1 hole,then the dirt fills up the inside of the drill and you can not go deeper. The fat inside lasts only for 2 holes then it is mixed with dust and it is a 15 min job to clean the inside of the drill. Switched over to the older style with an opening in the side,added the trick with the masking tape and did 10 holes in a row in 10 minutes. The package says "no water needed" but that is bull S.

Thank you for this video!! I just spent 3 days tiling a bathroom floor, went to install a new toilet and the rusted flange snapped. The fear of cracking one of these tiles - terrified me. I used a masonry (concrete) drill bit, and after a painstaking amount of time, I made a whole trhough it fracturing the otber half of a ceramaic porcelain pot.

Good information. Masonry to start, diamond to finish. Is ths better than starting with the diamond on a 45 degree angle to start, and then slowly rotating to square?

Great info, just had our shower tiled and the installer got the measurements wrong on the shower head supply rail, so I've got to finish it off. Porcelain is a bitch to work with, but pretty gorgeous finish on these ones. Bit of a piss off, hired him because I was too busy and needed it done...should have known better

Must U make a masonry hole first...I need to make a 32mm hole

I checked out the price of the special drills in Sept 2022 they seemed to be about mid forty dollars (at Bunnings). I borrowed a part used one and with cooling after about a minute I was maybe 1.5 mm deep. I suspect it's going to take ages to drill four holes.

Does it matter what the grit is on the sharpening stone? Can I just use the cheapest 100/200 grit knife stone?

No such word as "masonary" relative to which you are referring. The word is masonry.

For some reason the videos on this topic in an American accent weren't as useful.
