I liked your video, I have the same drill, can you share the drill settings and if you made any adjustments to the drill. Thanks

Where is your ranch/farm located? Does Eagle seed still make the fall Buffalo blend?? I have used it in the past, but for the last two years, have used products from Green Cover Seed

NE Kansas. I think they still do, I have switched to Stratton Seed the last couple years. Thinking about trying Green Cover Seed next year though. We loved Eagle seed but they are a good amount more expensive.

How does the brassica and radishes look. Does the rye compete too much

They do well as long as you get decent rain. baseball/ softball size is common in my plots. They like the nitrogen the beans produce

How did you keep the deer from devouring the beans as soon as they emerged?
@roundtreeranch
@roundtreeranch 2 года назад
By planting more acres then the deer can eat. Sounds like you have too many deer around.

Hi, I am thinking about getting the same drill. How many HP you got on your tractor? Mine is 70HP with 3300lbs lift capacity.
@roundtreeranch
@roundtreeranch 3 года назад
You shouldn't have a problem. Our is 65hp and works great.

My JD 5075e (72 hp at the engine) pulls the larger 706NT with no problem.

I believe it’s a M6060 but yes I’ve used it for years and it’s perfect

Is NY too northern/cold for doing a system like this?
@roundtreeranch
@roundtreeranch 2 года назад
I wouldn't think so. I don't have any experience in that area though... I think it would work well with some possible tweaks to the fall seed blends.

Have you tried Green Cover seed? The price looks real good. I need a drill bad

No I haven’t, I’m looking into all the options for next spring though.

What about planting a very short maturity soybean where the pods are already filled and dropping leaves when you drill in the fall mix? Then it wouldn't matter if you ran them over..that way you would receive way more sunlight down thru the beans to get your fall blend up faster?
@roundtreeranch

That would defiantly work. Although, We do a lot of hunting early season (September). So we like to still have fresh green leaves for the deer to eat since its their favorite food source that time of year.

I have never put fert on any of my foodplots. usually by year two of using the buffalo system I see amazing results

It’s not extra nitrogen. 😂 it’s a bacteria that is fixing N in return from root exudates (sugar) from soybeans. The N is being used by beans. A symbiotic relationship.
