The latest revelations about the upcoming Star Wars movie suggest Rey will now be training two new apprentices - a boy and a girl. Guess which one turns out to be the most powerful Jedi of all time?
@@AcidifiedMammoth She couldn´t have been a Sith Lord, because there has not been an evil woman in the history of humanity, only misunderstood and misguided by the patriarchy
"We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your ships. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile." "You will be assimilated."
Yeah, they really like their Evil inserts, with the child abuser in Kenobi being another one, and still act surprised when the audience doesn't like the characters. Obviously some kind of projection of their inner selves going on there, that they don't fully comprehend the transparency of..
"She mentors 2 promising young students a girl and a boy" oh I wonder who the big bad of the movie will end up being because he's jealous of how powerful the girls are....shit I said he, guess that gives it away
Only thing that could save that idea for me is if the girl student grew too powerful and falls to the dark side over time. Rey believes she would never be responsible for letting a student go to the dark side, so she ignores the red flags or gives empty feel-good sayings to help keep her on the light side. Meanwhile the boy student is working harder to be as strong as the other student, using actual hard work and discipline to get there, so he will have more respect for the power he develops. After the girl student turns to the dark, Rey will actually have to confront her flaw of not knowing what the hell she's doing and succeeding on pure luck. She will come to respect the boy student for putting in the work and need to reconcile with him for putting all bets on the other student.
I mean Luke mentored Jacen and Jaina and Jacen turned evil so it follows in suit of ripping off the EU, but you are right they will make it so he did it because of misogyny in the Disney timeline
@@HORSESNDOGS9*”Meanwhile the boy student is working harder to be as strong as the other student using actual hard work and discipline to get there”* As a hypothetical you can even have it be that because of his initial feelings of inadequacy when compared to the girl’s natural force talents, he works hard to make sure he’s fully educated and skilled in things like weaponry combat and lightsaber training and whatnot, like excelling in the places where the girl is lackluster in
So they killed off Luke after he failed to bring back the Jedi and now they're going to have Rey successfully bring the Jedi back and do it perfectly and effortlessly like only a woman of strong independence can do?
Sheev Palpatine has truly won in the end because Rey struck him down in the end, which he stated that in turn her body will be possessed by his spirit and claimed as his own. And then made the final insult to the Skywalkers by taking their surname and bury Anakin's lightsaber underneath the sand of Tatooine.
@@lawrencetalbot8346seriously though, is palpatine actually trans? Cause kylo was right there for the taking, piss him of, let him kill you and take over. Itd easier to do this than with rey cause hes a darkside user and more emotional.
Not only did Rey steal his last name but she also stole his arc from the EU of training the next generation of Jedi, she’s probably the greatest thief in cinema history.
@@newtpondskipper They'll both simultaneously get pregnant from midichlorians, and still remain in the front lines as prime super Marey Sooooo Jedi. Despite being 8 months pregnant.
The longer you go without watching modern movies, the less it hurts to "miss out" on them. Old stuff, foreign stuff, anime. Really, just purge Hollywood from your life. Totally worth it.
I very rarely watch American films or TV any more. It's all either woke crap, childish crap, or woke childish crap. So sad though, they're happily killing the golden goose.
Hey I can 100% claim that neither anime nor manga, even recently, have made me as angry as modern Hollywood does. They are not always 'good', but they sure as hell can be entertaining.~
The future of marketing and business courses are going to be insanely right wing conservative in 20-30 years time as they finally acknowledge that Rome wasn’t built in a day and it took a long time to fail as well… and they will look at Disney and Budweiser as textbook cases of failure to acknowledge that customers are cashflow and cannot be ignored.
So in a sense they did gender swap Pedro for Bo katan damn they swapping out all men for woman. I'm surprised Kraven The Hunter wasn't a woman at this point..
The Mando show initially gave me some hope that Star Wars wasn’t dead, but when The Book of Boba Fett dropped I knew it couldn’t be salvaged. Boba Fett broke my spirit and I immediately cancelled my Disney+ subscription
I didn't even make it to the end of the first episode of boba fett . When I saw the clip of Luke offering grogu the choice to stay or return to the mandalorian, I knew that was f@@ked as well .
And her work is counter productive to her obvious goal. It doesn’t empower women to say they’re all perfect without any effort, that’s insulting and obvious pandering. If she wanted to push a feminist agenda she should have made female characters that people could relate to and would want to root for. The ultimate level of equality is when you reach a point where it doesn’t matter if they’re a man or a woman, they’re just a well written character that people can enjoy and root for.
No no it’s a Lucasfilm vendetta. I believe through all those years she felt equal or even superior to Lucas and in her mind she was going to not only tear down his legacy but also show her true talent by making something that was better. There’s obviously a lot of pent up resentment with KK. Trouble is, she was a secretary who rode coattails and married into influence.
@@Lowbrass64I’ve said that for years …it’s not just Lucas but Spielberg . I think she has been harboring hate for them. When u watch behind scenes for ANYTHING , she produced for them, she never , ever is shown to have any input . As a narcissist, this must have driven her crazy. Spielberg knows ..that’s why he snubbed her at the Indy premier . He was letting her know , they know what she is doing .
The Skywalker story ended on Endor, with Luke and his friends all celebrating their victory against the evil Empire. Anything else beyond that point I choose to read from the stories as told from the Expanded Universe over Disney's fan-fiction.
@@rrwholloway Me personally, the Star Wars: Legacy comics with Cade Skywalker are my personal head canon sequel to the OT. I honestly found Thrawn Trilogy kind of overrated. But then that's just me.
@sjdrifter72 I'll admit not everything from the Expanded Universe was perfect and it had it's fair share of bad (like Dark Empire) but it had better respect for the characters, universe and what came before and just generally offered more interesting stories then any of Disney's utter pig-shit.
Hold on, lemme guess. The girl student will be a prodigy and the boy will be a bitter, jealous, and petty asshole who turns to the dark side. Then all the "character development" will be about trying to either kill or reeduca... sorry I meant "redeem" the fallen student.
The irony is that just like the sequel trilogy , the female protagonist will have zero character arc while the hero’s journey will be really walked by the male character. 😂
When Rey Palpatine looked at the camera and yelled "smash capitalism" before kissing Galadriel at a Lizzo concert, I cried at how stunning and brave it was.
They should have gone 100 years in the future and started with a clean slate. Nobody wants to see more stories about a character that can’t possibly ever be in danger. Start fresh, and this time give your characters flaws and weaknesses, so they have something to overcome.
Male student is gonna fall to the dark side out of envy and jealousy because his girlboss peer is just so perfect at everything and infinitely humble and stoic and everyone loves her and she's just so cool.
Jedi Brook's reaction to the Rey Palpatine movie plot sums it up perfectly. Just by giving this outline we can predict everything that's gonna happen. Giving the typical tropes, the road to the release is basicly a drinking game now.
The male student will turn to the dark side because he's jealous of his classmate's (probably his sister) power and thinks it should be his. He will be petty and bitter and she will be the greatest human who has ever lived.
I almost walked out of the room too. The worst way to bring in new female fans is to make everything about women and suffocating audience members to the point that we actually become mysogynistic. I never wanna see one in another movie ever again (just kidding, but you get my point).
Honestly, I don't have anything at all against the idea of another female main character. They just need to be well-written, relatable and fallible. I still cannot for the life of me understand why so many writers nowadays fail to grasp that.
@@2012sonora They didn't even dare to admit it as self-inserts. Look at those Japanese wish fulfillment anime or the Korean or even the cultivation Chinese ones. At least both the authors and the one who enjoyed it knows that it's a blatant and vulgar power fantasy, and therefore they're treated as such. If you love it and want to have fun along with us, it's okay, if you disdained it with your whole being it's fine too. But these people? They treated their work as gospel and moral truth to be applied in real life instead of treating it like cum-stained wish fulfillment that they are.
I actually like the idea of a gender bend version of my favorites character or project with all female characters but too bad most of the cast is fuckin ugly man wtf Hollywood is really hate attractive woman
Not without an explanation. There’s plenty of female characters who’ve been shown to be skilled and trained enough to pull something like that off, it’s the idea that a woman could do that simply with the power of “girl power” that is pretty unbelievable. I’m sorry but men are larger and stronger, that’s not sexism that’s physics and physiology.
It's not even "men". We've had strong female characters "owning men in fights" since the 80's and the 90's in shows and movies and nobody had a problem because the female characters were flawed but likable. They were not preachy, they were badass characters that appealed to everyone. They suffered hurdles and also many defeats they had to overcome. They weren't "girl bosses", they were simply strong characters with flaws and had engaging character arcs from start to finish.
Excuse me, but: Black Widow in Iron Man 2. Almost every man I know of absolutely loved when she rampaged through the Hammer building (and quietly imagines being one of the guards). Trust me, as long as the you-go-gurl is hot enough, most modern guys will take literally any amount of abuse. Show them a hot enough you-go-gurl and they'll be begging her to step on their faces and calling her Mommy in no time. (And for the dense: This is not a demand that guys simp for you-go-gurls who aren't hot. This is asking guys to please be honest with themselves and stop simping at all. If you don't respect yourself, who else will?)
I just watched Haywire a few weeks back and walked away pretty convinced Gina Carano could kick my ass pretty handily. Her kick’s resonated through my TV like a mule.
Lol...the look on Gary's face when Drinker was telling him the the Acolyte was rumored to be cancelled...it was like his life flashed before his eyes...
I'm not watching. With a few exceptions (Ripley, Lara Croft, Private Vasquez) too many modern female heroes are all Mary Sues. They have NO weaknesses and never grow. They are like Athena, born as goddesses and they don't change.
Characters don’t always have to change tho.. there is a thing known as a “flat character arc” like Tommy Shelby where they don’t change despite the adversity.. problem is it’s not always done well.
Albert Einstein once said, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.” Kathleen Kennedy: " Nah...it'll be fine."
Reading the set-up for Rey's new film sounds exactly like Luke's story in the old canon where he rebuilds the empire. It was his story and she stole it.
@RabbitShirak Ray was not a problem. She was a non-entity, which became a problem over time. What broke me first (as many other aspects of TFA were to do) was the opening scene. Admittedly, I had been broken since the prequels. I never stood for them, even as a child. But I went to TFA for the sake of coworker bonding. The trailer gave me a small amount of hope that Star Wars was going to be approached with some craft and that the story was going to be allowed to 1. emote and 2. grow up. That first massacre scene was comical. From the tech to tactics to its presentation to the way Finn reacts, it all showed that not a second of research was done. It's as if there aren't hundreds of hours of combat footage on RU-vid. It's as if the US Army doesn't have a live fire inoculation course that you could ask them to put you through. In reality, Finn would have been domed, and it would have been him spreading his strawberry jam across a friend's helmet.
Going to put my 'prophecy' here for safekeeping : The girl jedi will be the next Mary Sue being uNiQue in the Force and speCiAl ,the boy is going the be the butt of every joke, if he doesn't literally blends in with the background he'll probably become a Sith and then the girl has to 'save' him later. If the boy falls to the Dark side: There will be spend No attention as to why the boy falls to the dark side (because ignoring one child is A-ok as its just a male) and her journey to bring him back to the Light will be another glorified train wreck of epic scale, where the writers absolutely don't understand why people think the Girl Boss is an absolute abhorrent and vile person, while she does terrible things. Place your bets !
Sounds like a pretty safe bet that one of the 2 students will be fascinated by the dark side and succumb. And it's a safe bet that it will be a boy. Probably a white boy. Maybe even a ginger. The new mary sue girl that is the key to everything will likely be "diverse". Maybe also "non binary" or similar.
No doubt he's an incell who gets rejected by the girl, then turns full darkside. A bit like Rings of Dour. it might be a new trend. As well as the old "men bad, women good" trope
In the 90's, Disney gave kids like us great stories with amazing adventures done by noble heroes. But they also encouraged the talentless to pursue hobbies and interests they had neither the desire nor capacity to learn or care about. It was the latter that then grew up to write for Disney, completing the circle of self-sabotage.
Star Wars died a long time ago.... In a galaxy far far away. It was but a whisper. And now, has left a great echo. Only female led movie I'd want is with Meetra Surik in Kotor 2
Yeah, I was going to say Palpatine at least was successful. KK is more like an unfunny version of Inspector Clouseau, destroying everything in her path.
The Mandolarian was the only reason Disney+ had as many subscribers as it did, I know adults that only watched that show. Even the media acknowledges that show as the flagship of Disney+. Changing the main character to Bo Katan will go over as well as Netflix trying to run a full season of Stranger Things where the focus is on Eleven entering and going through a beauty pageant. Good luck with that Disney
@@Mouse_Metal I’m guessing you haven’t seen the new Indy movie with Phoebe Waller-Bridge? She take that Olympic medal by a mile. Why do you think they called the movie Indiana Jones and the Adventures of the Insufferable B!^€h?
@@barnabusdoyle4930 I haven´t but I doubt that Phoebe character tried to murder her own sister, enslaved and burnt village of innocent people, terrorized a planet of her own people with a group of Na**s crossed with Alquaeda to establish a totalitarian militaristic regime, constantly manipulated and gaslighted everyone to gain power, and instead of facing consequences (death penalty) she kept falling upwards and ruled 3X illegitimately.
What is really sad is everyone has forgotten that in the original, A New Hope, and the following two sequels, the world was introduced to the concept of co - op equality with both Luke & Leiah! This concept was groundbreaking for its Time. Neither criticised the other for their gender, both held their own. Hollywood has back pedalled so far now.
Some of those Hollywood producers may have had that vision but it never came out to the fans like that. Luke Skywalker was always the main guy we wanted. Princess Leia was nothing but a distant fourth or fifth place
So if we count all future series and movies the only Star Wars upcoming with a male lead is Andor right? Literally everything else is lead by a female character.
That one with the two students of Ray, the female being very gifted, sounds an awful lot like a leak Doomcock mentioned months ago, sometime after Star Wars Celebration. I remember his informant telling him it's connected to the movie/show Daisy Ridley was to be apart of and about the two students. The girl embodies the good side of the Force and is very powerful. While the boy embodies the dark side and is becoming quite powerful, to the point that Ray is forced into a similar situation as Luke with Ben/Kylo. And the way the leak is given, it sounds like the boy and girl are born with these different sides of the Force from birth. Rather than, you know, the Force being a spectrum and becoming a Jedi or Sith are just reflections of your choices and how you choose to use/abuse the Force. In these leaks it's implying a person is either born good or evil. So of course the guy is born evil in KK production. But who knows if any of this is true or this rumor is just making the rounds and some picked it up thinking it was real and ran with it.
I can believe it, these leftards really believe straight white men are born racist, sexist, homophobes. After 150 years of pushing for not judging people by their innate characteristics, we're back to judging people by their innate characteristics, only now the script is flipped, with women and minorities being holy and sacrosanct and straight white men being evil.
The closing line is essentially what I’ve been saying for years. Pre-2016 Hollywood and storytelling are radically different to post-2016 Hollywood and storytelling.
It´s fascinating how people were making fun of her wooden acting, but then she was replaced by even more wooden actress-wannabe who plays absolutely insufferable, narcissistic sociopath on a top of that, but she gets praised everywhere and all interviews and articles glorify that terrorist, slaver, schemer and sisterslayer with extar steps who replaced not only Cara but also Mando, the main character - THE Mandalorian (no, not everyone can be THE Mandalorian).
No, she didn't. Yeah, she had the physique to match her character, but she's a shit actress who's just a boring log of wood. No matter what she was in. Nothing is lost by her not being in something. She's like a female Vin Diesel, only slightly worse. What she deserved was to be dropped after the first season, for poor job performance at a pointless character among other pointless characters..
Why didn't they just have LUKE SKYWALKER be the Jedi master training his two apprentices BEN SOLO and REY in The Force Awakens? what is wrong with these people
They’re writing something fanciful instead of telling stories, repeating the same narrative with characters restricted by a checklist of what is permissible. Undermined by revelations from the originals-whimsical too, but successful in explaining history from a certain point of view-the prequels suffer. The sequel trilogy did well until a disrespectful scribe took over. Johnson crafted a future tale divergent from prophecy, then returned the problem to the original writer, who could not repair things without daring to make the protagonist "evil". Factor in tacked on agenda, and you get a complete understanding of the mess offered.
Just as an aside, I have to give a nod to Smokey (The Critical Doggo) since I have a much younger hound doing exactly the same thing in my office next to me. Roo.
Here are some facts for you from someone who worked on acolyte. It started filming summer 22 at the new reading studios reading and finished filming May 23 at same studios . We were told when wrapping up they had four episodes in the can at the end . I do not know if there was shooting on sets in other countries ie Back in USA but there were a few shoots in Madeira and Wales the production overspilled to the Arborfield studios close by. There were alot of sets forests, space ships, temples, caves and street scenes . This felt more like a film set than a tv . Working in the industry I have not come across a shoot with so much secrecy regarding the story, it usually trickles out because of what you see and make and the actors you see around , not this time , so I had to ask around . 😆.I bump into a few of the smaller bit part actors here and there and they were very guarded about the story and seemed a little unhappy ,not the usual chatty excitement. We had no trouble getting paid but crew size starts to dwindle towards the end in most productions . My fear was that the script would be modern woke garbage but I have no concrete evidence for this . As for running out of budget to finish don't know. Might be a case of panic back at disney and cutting costs due to recent events there . Would be a shame alot of people worked hard on this production🤫🤐
Drinker should be the mandolorian! Honestly though, there should be more drinking in the Star Wars universe...and substance abuse in general! Let's explore that! That'll humanize all the characters!
Obi wan drank like once or twice in the prequels & turned down death sticks, team star kid done a good Star Wars musical and obi wan is just a washed up alcoholic it’s quite hilarious

OF COURSE !! * immediately files this under "just consume product and get excited for next product "
I was in Madeira for a couple of months whilst they were filming The Acolyte and there was a Star Wars buzz around the island. A huge number of containers arrived by ship with all the equipment and several dramatic locations were used. Madeira is a volcanic island that appeared out of the sea 4.5mn years ago and has a lush, rocky landscape, perfect for a Sci-Fi movie. Unfortunately, you know the casting and story are going to massively let the whole thing down.
Disney's trilogy is all about Rey Nobody committing identity theft of a legendary family name, one that she is not legally or biologically allowed to take upon herself. This is the Rise of Bad Fan fiction.
Rey will be impregnated using the force (because she doesn't need a man for anything) and she'll give birth to two twins, a Spanish boy and a Black girl. She'll name them Luke and Leia. So then we can have our "new and improved" Luke and Leia Skywalker (Palpatine). They'll have a best friend named Hans Bacca, A Trans Wookie.
Star Wars has basically degraded down to "girl boss in space" now, same thing for Marvel movies too. They've narrowed the audience down quite a bit, I hoped they've subverted their expectations for massive profits at the box office!
I stopped watching Mandalorian in the season 3 episode where Bo Katan saved Mando twice within a few minutes in one episode. Never watched anything Mandalorian after that. I am not watching anything from Disney.
Good for you. The rewrites to shoehorn that loathsome, sociopathic Space Karen as a her-o are too obvious. It is clear she wasn´t supposed to be there at all and Din was originally supposed to save himself with Grogu´s help and see the mythosaur after taking the bath. I had some hope Boo´s atrocities will be acknowledged at some point and Din will kill her, or she will realize she´s a terrible person and will genuinely try to repent her sins and sacrifices herself or something... But it was just more of the plot bending around that insufferable Mary Sue, everyone simping for her and giving her special privileges, including the armorer who called her "cautionary tale" in BOBF, which further proves S3 was heavily rewritten to push agenda. I stopped watching when that disgusting Karen got the darksaber illegitimately again, and then I went to rewrite S3 into a logical conclusion of previous seasons. I finished the first draft today. Stay tuned!
All this talk about how much they love this badass female character, when they fired and wrote out another actually badass female character because the actress had the wrong opinions.
Boooo is not a badass, she is an evil, rude, arrogant, shady, lying, narcissistic villain who uses everyone all the time and whines like a spoiled br4t she is and blames everyone except of herself for her own fauls. What a rolemodel!
I mean, even if it did have a male protagonist, he would most likely be inevitably overshadowed by a female character who was either absent from the marketing or misleadingly marketed as a supporting character, so...
Ballsy to recycle the name New Jedi Order for something set after Luke failed to revive the Jedi and died. I wasn't that big of a follower of the old EU and that even stings me
Echo is a somewhat recent Daredevil villain. Making a smaller known villain the center of a show would be like making a whole movie about Morbius the living Vampire. Who would do something like that?
The Hawkeye show was abysmal. Edit: Jeremy Renner apparently hated how small his role in The Avengers(2012) and didn’t care if his character was killed off
