Things have been getting kind of crazy in the world of gaming over the past few days with the release of Hogwarts Legacy, based on JK Rowling's Harry Potter series. So let's take a look!
It doesn’t mean it isn’t going to affect your life. People have had their lives ruined by these online mobs even though they have never engaged in these debates. Just because you don’t know it’s happening doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist nor be obligated to leave you alone.
The Drinker said something very poignant around 5 minutes in. He said "Imagine basing your life around Harry Potter." I think that's the biggest reason why so many people are so angry at her. The bottom line is, they invested too deeply into this fictional universe. Now that they feel let down by its author, they should have to come to terms with their own obsession. But they just can't. That would mean self-reflecting, and it's just too difficult for them. It's easier to lash out at Rowling than to come to terms with their own issues, so that's what they do.
Well, not gonna lie- Harry Potter is VERY emotionally significant to my life. That being said, when people were mad at her for supporting Johnny Depp (I took that as a signal in his favor but ok), they would tweet "I don't feel safe at Hogwarts anymore". Yeah, I wouldn't put it that way, that's so cringe. It astonished me that people didn't go "hey, this person I deeply respect said this thing, perhaps I should listen." and just abandoned HP. It was odd. That's when I knew something bad was happening in the culture that people didn't take the time to perhaps change their own mind, but the world must be altered to THEM.
I don’t agree with everything she said if anything, but I don’t care either, she wrote some books I like and from that came some films I love, I disagree with some of her points on trans issues ect, and that’s where I leave it, why can’t other people do the same? Lots of people simply can’t disagree with someone and still remain respectful to them these days, sad to see, but we have to remember there’s a lot of reasonable people out there too.
They've even attacked a VTuber named Pikamee, who is not even involved with any of the drama and got her to cancel her stream. They even had a site dedicated to finding people who have streamed the game. It's not about streamers having their viewers turn on them, they're literally forming lynch mobs to hunt down anyone who plays the game.
They didn't get her to cancel her stream. She allowed herself to be bullied into it. That's not the same thing. Never bend the knee. Never explain. Just do what you want to do and your audience will respond. If you lose the woke and they're the majority of your audience, you cultivated them as they're a tiny minority IRL.
....... wow that actually just annoyed the hell out of me. v-tubers are usually very wholesome and these people decide to come in and screw with people who are just about having good vibes. seriously, fuck these people.
I dont know what JK is like on social media (I've only ever seen the infamous trans post), but the Harry Potter series was an embodiment of the best of left-wing ideals. I think that's what they can't stand - someone who remains stubbornly unpolarised, with a middle finger in their general direction.
@@CarrionCrow993 exactly! People didn’t like Harry Potter or JK because she was showing left wing ideals. Now suddenly she is supposedly a far right extremist… it shows the terrifying shift of the left… it’s going radical and it’s so scary
Not just stepping out of line, but also not going that step further. There are still people who follow these trends but have boundaries, but when they say "this far and no further for me", it's the same like stepping out of line for the fanatics. Because the main problem of fanaticism is that someone always comes along who's even more fanatic and the rest has to follow or be rejected by the group/movement.
Imagine not being in a cult and holding people accountable for their actions, rather than worshipping people regardless of their actions, just because they are on "your team".
And HOW MANY 'anti-trans' comments did Rowling actually post?!? I thought she only really made ONE post on twitter that suggested she thinks there's a difference between being 'born' a woman and being a 'trans' woman? Did she release a FLURRY of 'anti-trans' messages that I missed?
@@StreetPreacherr according to one person I was arguing with she "successfully instigated a genocide" lmao of course when I asked for any sort of example they shut down and called me a bigot.
@@StreetPreacherr she also said biological men shouldn't be allowed into women's spaces simply because they declare themselves trans. Which is common sense, we already have multiple examples of rapists abusing that.
@@AstroBimpson These idiots think if you say a man can't literally become a woman (because he can't) you're saying all trans people should be attacked. AKA they have a very hard time with coherent, logical thought.
Amongst all toxic fans, Potter fans are on a whole different level, demonising a woman for calling women, women is beyond madness. The worst are the 3 potter brats who sided with the haters instead of the woman who made them what they are.
The idea that buying and playing this game somehow makes a person “immoral” is so ludicrous it’s frightening. What’s even more ludicrous and frightening is that there are actual people in the world who believe playing and buying this game is some key indicator of a person’s values or psyche or their propensity to become radicalized by said game. That’s such a non-sequitur it baffles the mind.
Just remember folks its always the people who constantly virtue signal about being "tolerant" and "accepting" that act the worst when others don't think like them. Don't be afraid to call them out on their hypocrisy.
It's not hypocrisy, it's hierarchy. They are insane, and must force everyone else to accept their insanity. It won't stop until we fight back, and return our culture to sanity.
Id love to see if theyd have any ability to see the irony of actualizing a quote from a republican president. “If youre not with us, then youre our enemy.”
The irony is the so-called "victims" in this scenario are acting like high-school bullies intimidating and threatening anyone who simply want to play a video game. What an insane world we live in.
I am one of the ones who bought out of spite. Never cared much about Harry Potter at all. Decided to give it a try, and I think it's a fantastic game. Really having a great time playing it. Mission accomplished, wokes!
@@carsandsports123 pretty much this. There’s gatekeeping to keep out disruptive elements, and then there’s gatekeeping over minutia, but where the line between the two is often hard to define.
Playing violent games is no more encouraging kids to become violent or perform violent acts than Tom and Jerry made kids want to perform violent acts. It’s all a smokescreen for people who want to control what others do with their lives.
No the whole violent media thing is a smokescreen for weapons manufacturer lobbyists to protect their bottom lines. Don't get into the culture wars they are trying to pull you into. THAT is the smokescreen.
@@corpse1244 So why are you so adamantly against the game!? JK created a world that people love. Quick trying to take away things people love so they'll like you more. It doesn't work like that.
@@weschester5432 because they spend too much time on twitter and think that the world she created is transphobic, anti Semitic, and whatever other buzzwords I’ve forgot
@@shell6467 _"nothing to do with game development . The game is based on her fantasy novel so yes she had something to do with the game"_ Not in that sense that she made anything for that particular game in the context of whole debacle and criticism and attacks towards the Hogwards Legacy game happened. With that kind of logic that she created the Harry Potter universe we could e.g. say that parent's of the girl we know as "Mona Lisa" also had something to do with the famous painting about that said girl because they literally created the person who is depicted in the painting. It would also be asinine to attack Leonardo da Vinci or the painting if e.g. "Mona Lisa's" mother was a racist/slave owner/killer etc. Same way it is asinine to antagonize a game which is based on a world Rowling created just based on that connection between them. Context matters (in this case too), not just if we are able to connect a thing A to thing B in some way.
I think MightyKeef hit the nail on the head. They chose this game as their battle, because it's easy. Boycotting and protesting any of JK's other revenue streams takes too much effort. With this game, people can just get out of bed and start raging on the internet.
That's pretty much how it is for the majority of their "causes". It's easy to just pull out your phone and start raging from your soapbox about something you had no intention of every buying in the first place. But what about the iPhone you're tweeting from? Supporting Apple means you're supporting slave/child labor in China. What about TikTok? Well, that's a Chinese company, meaning the money they get goes directly to oppressing LGBT people, Uyghur minorities, and more child/slave labor. You could go on and on with all the things they buy and support that are "problematic". But the difference is not using those things is "inconvenient". Having to buy a new phone? NOooo, I'll just keep using my iPhone, and pretend Apple did nothing wrong. Not use TikTok? NOoooooo, I don't wanna stop using that, so I'll just pretend it's okay. Etc. The wokescolds on twitter are all too eager to attack other people for not living up to the standards that they refuse to live up to themselves. Because it's far more convenient to just yell and scream, and not think about how they're being massive hypocrites.
And they won. There's trans in the game. Not only has giving the toddler the ice cream taught the toddler that screaming works, the toddler hasn't even stopped screaming.
It's utterly insane, I heard a freaking Gamestop employee say she wouldn't play the game simply because of J.K. Rowling and I was in the store when she said. Yeah because you not playing the game is clearly gonna affect one of the richest, most successful women in history. It's nothing more than grandstanding, thinking they are making "a difference" when really they are just validating their fragile egos.
Even if in some other universe boycotting this game did anything the only people you’d be hurting are innocent developers just trying to make a living. JK has fuck all to do with the game and she’s set for multiple lifetimes. You aren’t hurting her.
Keep playing. Keep streaming. Who cares if crazies hate you. These are emotionally unstable adults who behave like children and should have been told NO more when they were growing up.
True. But they also can be very well organized. Call your employer, your bank, your studio, your landlord and ask them to fire you and succeed. Deplatform you. That didn't happen to Rowling, fortunately, but to others.
@@Coromi1 You're right, they can. The people in question amassed this power because they took an inch and no one said anything, so they took a foot and no one said anything. Now they take miles at a time and people are starting to speak up. Your best defence remains to know your values as a person, know your platform/state/government/corporation's policies and be the adult in the room. There are always ways to fight back or stem the damage they cause. I can elaborate further if you like?
@@jlokyo180 I can't do that. But we can. I am happy that there is a backlash in Britain on shutting down peoples' bank accounts. We don't have that in Germany.
It just fascinates me that a very small minute minority of people seem to have the biggest voices heard on social media and other media platforms yet somethings that you would think we should get past already and we haven’t and I’m just gonna leave it at that
@@Gwenhwyfar7 yeah I was in a discord with some someone that was kicking off, saying any purchases of the game support that 'transphobic piece of shit' JK Rowling and she's evil. (I think the person identifies as non binary). And then the day after the game released they just quietly say they've finished the whole thing in a single sitting😅 what a hypocrite🤣
The war on objective reality gets some push back but when they try to attack the world of fantasy, the one we go to for escape, they will be struck down in the same righteous fury they pretend to wield.
Hypocrisy is the religion of the woke liberals ..... and they are devout. For people that ramble on and on about their identities they have an incredible lack of self-awareness, lol.
The funny thing is that this makes people not want to support your cause. Which is kind of the problem you see is that people undermine the very causes they apparently stand for.
They were once contained on Tumblr. They turned it into a nurgle hive and once they had grown fetid and fat off its corpse the gates opened once it died, unleashing them upon us
i feel they are more slaneesh then nurgle cause their obsession with gender and sex honestly though they also most likely have aids so nurgle also makes sense well at least we know they do not have khorne or tzeetch cause they cannot put up a fight to save their life or they have no mental capacity to think and be mind broken by tzeetch
Gaming became "this" when Gen Z let it become their entire personality. Streaming culture has exploded and big media has a vested interest in claiming the youngest generation when they are the most influenceable.
All moral panics are the same. Thats why I can never take any of it seriously, and I have to keep reminding people of the _previous_ moral panics and where they were coming from.
There’s literally a trans character in the game. Like an OBVIOUSLY trans character. But it’s never enough. They’re now complaining because of the characters name, that it’s too masculine or has some sort of double meaning.
I heard that in Hogwarts Legacy that you can transmorgify enemies into an exploding barrel and then detonate them, not only instantly killing them but killing their friends nearby...
I heard a friend of a friend at the pub say JK Rowling was evil the other day. Just shows a complete lack of understanding of what evil actually is. Its honestly disrespectful to anyone who has actually suffered at the hands of evil
The watering down of terms like "evil", "hate", "bigotry", and so forth by people with absolutely no sense of proportion and a grossly overdeveloped and completely unwarranted sense of self-importance is sadly nothing new.
That's the problem with staying stuck in a bubble or 'safe space' - you forget there's an entire world outside of it and end up convincing yourself your bubble is the entire world.
Oh top of that, running from anything that makes you scared/uncomfortable makes you weak. You get stronger by confronting your fears and understanding the things that scare you.
This game literally has so many different characters from all over the world and all skin colors and even a transgender thats actually likeable in this game....and they still mad...id go as far to say as the split between whites and all ppl of color in this game is easily 50/50 it's super diverse..ive heard atleast 15 different accents I know
Don’t bend to the mob. Don’t let them intimidate you into not streaming this game. They want you afraid of them - that’s where they get their power. If we all laugh at them, ignore their temper tantrums, and move on with our lives, their grip is lost.
Did the fans already do that when the game sold thousands to billions of copies? Most Twitter accounts are just troll bots. Elon musk, exposed most of them.
As someone who’s been a massive Harry Potter fan since childhood, watching the movies and playing the other video games nonstop, I just want to enjoy a brand new game and ignore the people that are acting like idiots over things that don’t matter.
'People weren't calling it out soon enough'. Amen. As a kid i was taught to be easy going to respect/get along with others. As an adult i realized being easy going with certain people just leads to them demanding/bullying for more (give an inch and they take a foot) and that i really don't care to get along with them anyway....i respect their right to have an opinion, but unfortunately don't respect them as a person. Not based on their opinions/beliefs- just their general 'crappiness'.
I say people can have their free speech but it's also mine to disagree. Free speech is for protecting disagreement. You don't need protection if you already agree with people.
She's excellent at worldbuilding, does prose well, and has a knck for developing friendships in her stories. The rest, not so much. Especially the romance stuff, you'd think she'd be better at that with her knack for friendships but no.
I watched a comic book creator get cancelled for "misogyny/transphobia" because he wrote a story that amounted to "Team 7 fights King Kong". Of course they'll cancel someone for playing the wrong video game! It's a religious cult.
The combat really is the best part. I haven't stopped having fun trying different approaches to enemies and situations. The gameplay loop is also really satisfying and keeps me entertained a lot longer than any individual aspect could possibly hope to.
In answering the final couple questions regarding spells in the Harry Potter canon 1. There is no spell in the canon (at least not in the original 7 books) which "turns people inside out". 2. Sectumsempra - the spell that evicerates the target and "gashes them open", was created by Professor Severus Snape, not Voldemort. 3. The spell that was reffered to which "removes bones from peoples bodies" is called Brakium Emendo - Might acttualy be (and probably is) a spell that mends broken bones, but when it was cast in the second book/movie by the invenerable and unfathomably incompotent Gilderoy Lockhart (who pronounced the spell "Brakiam Amendo"), he botched the spell so hard that it completely removed the broken bone in Harry's arm. (Perhaps) some fun little side notes - "Brakiam" sounds a lot like "Brachium" which it the latin/medical terminology for fore-arm - the part of Harry's arm that was broken - before Gilderoy "fixed" it. "Brakiam" also sounds a little like a shortened/conjoined version of "Brækket arm", which is Danish and means: Broken Arm. "Amendo" means "amendment" in Esperanto - an amendment in common usage meaning; a minor change disigned to improve the subject.
I got it through preorder and played like four hours on the 7th and let me tell you, when I finally did get off my face was sore from smiling and it took me several hours to quit buzzing from it. It's pretty, it's fun to play and I'm looking forward to logging on for another several-hour session (just have to make sure my calendar is clear). And yeah, if people hadn't whined about the game so much it would have totally passed a lot of us by because I had literally forgotten that it was even a thing until people started drawing lines in the sand. The Streisand Effect strikes again.
As someone who has zero interest in Harry Potter, the campaign to cancel the game has only made me more interested in it. I wouldn't have given it a second thought, but now, it has my attention, and it looks legitimately good. Funny how that works.
As a Harry Potter enjoyed, I suggest reading the books and/or watching the films. If you can't, there are a few channels on RU-vid like MovieFlame and Harry Potter Folklore and Harry Potter Theory that create content based on the source material. 👍

@SpaceBird People becoming interested in media that other people are trying to bury or destroy has always been a thing, doesn't have shit to do with trans people. It even has a name, the Streisand Effect. People don't like to be told what they can and can't do, and are stubborn in the face of tyranny. Activists very much don't understand that and have been wreaking havoc on their own causes for years now because of it. A lot of people wouldn't have known this game even existed had the drama not gone mainstream and put its existence in everyone's faces. I'm one of them, I've never read the books or seen the movies and hadn't heard of this game before the controversy. I love RPGs but was under the impression that Harry Potter was more of a kid's thing that you'd have to be nostalgic for to enjoy, so I likely wouldn't have even considered playing it had I learned of it organically, but the reviews have all glowing and praising the open world so I decided to give it a shot and pre-ordered it.
[ 7:25 ] EXACTLY! *"When did gaming became like this? Not only true, but absolutely accurate too. Thanks for sharing. I'm grateful that there are still some people denouncing, pointing out and execrating these abominable realities, which are no less true because they are horrible. Magnificent music, stunning visuals, gorgeous animations, certainly entertaining and interesting story, fun mechanics and progress, it's very good! whatever haters -and fanatics wanting to shove their political agendas into gaming- say.
Drinker has the same idea about JK as I do. She is hardcore leftist on all kinds of things, but it's just ironic as all hell that the second she stepped out of line she got burnt for it. It's honestly amusing to me.
If she's a hardcore leftist why is she a Corbyn-hater? If she lived in my country she would definitely have supported Hillary over Bernie. She's not left about anything except certain cases of bigotry, is she?

He got a call from his lawyer. "Are you frickin' NUTS?!!!???! The first time someone on your list gets mugged in an alley, you're gonna lose your shirt in the lawsuit."
I wouldn't say "brilliant". Like IllTemperedCur says, nuked for self defense purposes. It's an old pattern, it just gets spread further online. That crowd walks things back not because they realized they're wrong, but because it's "bad optics" or might cause them problems.
Clever line from the Drinker, but in all honesty, it seems like he shut it down because of the backlash. So it seems he couldn't even stumble onto common sense by accident.
I really respect JK for her ability to hold onto her property, now a days you are forced to sign away all your IPs but she manages to hold to her creation and it's inspiring.
there was a rumor she was offered a ton of money to sell the IP to Warner like Lucas sold off Star Wars. But since the backlash, I don't think she will ever let go of the IP, especially after the trans trolls threatened her kids, and even future grand kids just because she said people with a PENIS shouldn't be going into and exposing themselves in women's safe spaces.
yea i agree, even George Lucas gave away the Star Wars franchise to Disney for a buck. J.K. is also the only women in the top 15 all time wealthiest women on Earth that made her wealth off of something she created. All the other women were married to wealthy men n which the men died, and they inherit all the money, or they were daughters that inherit their parents' money.
Whilst wholly dependent on individual circumstances in truth few independent creators are ‘forced’ into signing away anything, at least not in the literal sense. No, most simply get dazzled by the stupid money big corps typically offer up for all rights and interests to their lucrative creations and happily proceed to sign it all away. To her credit Rowling is one of the few that has, so far at least, declined such temptations, although it helps being already filthy rich of course… 😉
Isn't JKR lib and she put some lib in Harry Potter? Didn't she say Dumbledore is homo changed Hermione to being African? So some libs would probably be ok with her.
Melanie hit it on the head. Gaming has become hijacked. Any avenue that we have for entertainment now has to be a test. Movies. Shows. Video games and right on down to even FRIGGING BOARD GAMES.
I've seen one Harry Potter movie once, I don't remember it at all and I think this game looks awesome. I saw a great image of a framed cross stitch saying: You picked a weird hill to die on but at least you're dead.
The films are crap. The story itself is OK, they just picked child actors more or less based on looks rather than acting ability or chemistry with each other. Plus they made extremely weird and unnecessary additions to the scripts which add nothing to the films purely to add more unnecessary CGI VFX shots. For the first 3 films it wasn't a problem, but it is from the 4th film and progressively worse from them on. The adult actors do fine I might add - the problem is that most of the dialogue is the bad child actors.
@@mnomadvfx Couldn't disagree more with most of that. The trio was cast perfectly and Daniel Radcliffe IS Harry Potter, couldn't have made a better casting. I will agree that Emma Watson did show her inexperience but hey she was a kid she did well enough. That being said, I agree after the first 3 films, first 2 for me personally, the directors continuously went down in quality and changed way too much whilst including way too little from the books. The 4th film is the biggest disservice.
I wasn't even going to play the game but after all that hysteria... I got myself the Deluxe Edition. Didn't even regret it, great game. It's like with the Parental Advisory sticker on music albums. Meant to do harm, became the best marketing possible ❤

She agrees with like 95% of Trans Politics as well. Her stance is also the stance the left has held for decades, yet because she refuses to update to their latest talking points she must be destroyed. The left stated for years that "Gender is not Sex" to defend their push to accept people claiming to be the opposite sex. Rowling is standing by that stance, she has made it clear that she supports trans people being their "real selves" but does not agree that Trans Women are Women.
Remember guys, of all the political issues from the Yemen genocide, the war in Ukraine, climate change, inflation, the Uyghur genocide or the fact our government’s more influenced by foreign lobbyists than actual voters, a Harry Potter video game should be the biggest issue right now.
@@james3876 I’m not necessarily mocking drinker’s chasers but everyone who’s into politics making this such a big issue. Why when the whole world is burning (ukraine war, potential war with china, covid causing inflation, the gap between the rich and poor growing wider by the day, BlackRock shenanigans) why do people primarily into politics waste so much time on this? It mostly is feminists whining about this but a lot of right wing channels are feeding into it. I’m just saying, if your primary role is politics then focus on POLITICS. Not trivial non-issues.
@@Caffeine_Club exactly. These so called activists aren’t actually doing any journalism work or trying to change policy. I’ve begun to believe that one of the chief sins of man is sloth, and it explains the feminist mindset so well. You see, they know themselves well enough that they don’t want to do research topics that affects people’s lives and aid the truly poor and downtrodden. It would require years of dedication and study that a slacker (or slacktivist, to be more precise) would never dream of doing. But they still want to be morally vindicated. Fighting forced prostitution, environmental damage or economic affairs is tough and mentally draining. But they still want to FEEL like they’re doing something for the world and their fellow man even though they’re just too slothful to do just that. When you become an adult you having this longing for purpose and much of that purpose comes through aiding your fellow man. So when they recognize this desire within themselves but ALSO recognizes their laziness and apathy they have to meet somewhere in the middle and that mostly comes down to 1) trying to attack trivial/mostly harmless things like a Harry Potter video game and ruining real peoples’ lives 2) doing something to make people FEEL good that’s a token effort at best but accomplishes nothing in substance, such as making a black woman a super hero. This nonsense is grade A slacktivism and it’s killing not only our youth’s sense of worse but political discourse as well. "Isn't there a spell that can remove all the bones from your body, so you're like a jelly-man?" That was a short story by Ray Bradbury. The "protagonist" develops a phobia of skeletons, and so finds a doctor repellent and unethical enough to remove all the bones from his body, leaving him an inhuman horror on the floor. Is this a timely story? Nah, couldn't be.
Yeah, but when animated skeletons chase you around. They don't see you with eyes that they don't have. They're just communicating with the one waiting to get out of your body.
I've probably read a hundred of Bradbury's short stories by now, and it always amazes me to hear of ones I've never heard of. The guy was such a fantastic ambassador to writing.
Drinker always reminds me of Rowan Bettjeman from VLDL. The similarity is uncanny XD. @@sexistspaghettios it's absurd. All they have to do is say, "I'm not taking a political stance on this. I just wanna play this game." But they're so terrified that they're gonna be next on the chopping block that they wouldn't dare claim to not take a stance, even when it makes them a hypocrite. I'm so sick of it all
The ironic thing is they increased the notability and awareness of the game exponentially by throwing such a fit about it. I don't follow gaming, or the Harry Potter-verse, so I never know about any game releases, yet I can't stop hearing about this one.
"I burned all my Harry Potter books". Yeah, and people burned their Beatles records when Lennon said, "we're more popular than Jesus." Afterwards these same people went out and bought the albums AGAIN.
It’s funny cause a lot of these dramas stem from twitter, but what a lot of media and people on twitter don’t realise is the large majority of people don’t use twitter or care about it because it’s not real life 😂
Nothing says ‘dignified boycott’ like screaming spoilers to a video game all over social media. We all know those boycotters will end up playing it, and _hate_ themselves for it.
If they have the spoilers then they have already either played it themselves or watched a streamer who already finished it. Either way, they have either supported the game or the people who are playing it. If they had even a shred of self-awareness, they’d be hating themselves already.
What I love is nobody actually cares about storyline spoilers in an open-world game... you just go around doing whatever you want and get to the main quests when you get to them.
as a former lib/centrist who became proudly conservative in 2016, you're going to start seeing that more and more... People try to shame me for it, or act like I'm stupid or ignorant for picking a team, but I'm a conservative because I am trying to conserve the liberals ideas of the Western Left before 2015... None of my positions have radically changed. None of my core beliefs have shifted. Radical leftism is just that; radical. That would be fine if the moderate left held any sway, such to the extent they had since their inception, but they just cede all their arguments and resolutions to the worst among them out of mere cowardice. Horribly saddening to see a whole political sphere I once loved fall into darkness. I am proud of believing and projecting conservative ideals, even if they might not align with every traditionally conservative perspective. It's been really heartening to see many people form all walks of life identify as conservative and bring their own ideas to the fore. We're not all straight white men. When my friend asked me why I identify so strongly as a conservative I told him sometimes you have to pick a side if you want to have a say. You can't change the world in a democracy by not voting. Apathy is moral decrepitude.
There are very little triple A companies that produce entertaining video games these days. Apart from your one or two outliers indie is probably the best way to play games. Made by real human beings that set out to make great games instead of companies who try and pander to every single group to make as much money as possible
This is true, but when those AAA companies do produce a really high quality and entertaining game (i.e. Elden Ring, GoW: Ragnarok, and now Hogwarts Legacy) the praise is always well deserved
I think the "buying it out of spite" thing is overstated. The large majority of people that own the game play through the first quest, which means people are actually playing the game, and when you look at the stream numbers and whatnot, it's clear that people are actually interested in the game, not just buying it.
All JK did was point out the obvious. There used to be a word for "people who menstruate". Biological sex is a reality, there's only 2 of them, and there can be labels for them both. If we made new labels, whatever those new labels are would just be the new "man" and "woman" label. (since the old ones have been hijacked to include anyone who simply wants to be called it, which makes them meaningless)
Lmao what do you think they’ll do, they’ll probably play the middle ground and then admit the Trangry boycotters were 100% justifies and right. South Park is woke garbage.
I've read about 100 Star Wars books. I didn't watch youtube recaps or anything, I read the lore straight through without any prior knowledge of the EU. Now I wouldn't consider myself a normie anymore buft back then I was the same as anyone who's only seen the movies but with a greater love for the universe. I've also read the Silmarillion and other adjacent books. I must admit I needed a lorecast to understand it all but I still read through. I didn't give up just because I didn't clearly understand two or thrsee things. Stop babifying EVERYTHING.. Go away with the story mode or "complete retrospective" videos. Who tf are you to tell me I'm not good enough for a game or that I can or can't warch a movie because you said so?
One thng about Hogwarts students one cannot say is that they never miss leg day. Especially the Gryfindors and Ravenclaws with thier common rooms in towers while the Hufflepuffs nestled in the kitchens and the Slytherins sulk in their dungeons.
Played it last night and this morning before leaving for work, it’s really cool so far and honestly darker than I initially thought it would be. Aside from no Quidditch, this is the game I’ve always wanted.
It’s hilarious because if you don’t use Twitter or see any sort of video regarding this topic you would never know it’s happening. I had no idea until a few weeks ago.
I originally wanted to buy it before the controversy because it looked cool. Spite is what made me pre-order the deluxe edition. The game is genuinely very good. Very immersive, good fan service, good combat that requires some attention and skill, good exploration.
It is good fun - the irony is the game is pretty 'woke' anyway - Hogwarts is a school where there seem to be no actual minorities, just an even balance of all cultures and creeds. When you create your character you can be trans too.
@@robsawalker and if you notice noone ever get's called he or she at any stage of the game which doesn't really affect anything but is a fun ironic tid bit i noticed lol
@@jakewood281 that is not even remotely true. They use non-binary pronouns for some characters, everyone else is he or she :D but "they" gets thrown around some times
"Content Creators" , "Followers" , Most people WILL call you and idiot for calling yourself either. Entertainer is the ACTUAL term for one, and consumer for the other. What you do to entertain people is what you do. If you do not want to look, then don't. Anyone that does not pay attention to you is not a loss in any way. Lots of entertainers NEVER get a break. Monetize your haters as they say.
@Antonio C. Internet people are the ones who buy and play games. I never even heard of the game, nor cared, until the stupid controversy brought it to my attention. Now I'm considering buying it because it looks good. Could just be my arrogance assuming everybody is in the same boat as me, but I can't be the only one.
