My favorite Buddy joke of all is: A priest walks into a bar and sits down, turns to a call girl and says [error: data corruption. Punchline not found] Ha ha ha, that's a good one.
Now if only there was a mod that allowed you to make codsworth into a hovering fridge, a mobile battle platform and a chilled beverage dispenser... that's the Post apocalyptic dream right there.
I hate how the Pulanski Shelter things always pronounce nuclear as 'nucular'. Americans go ape when they hear that mispronounciation elsewhere but don't really mind it in Fallout 4.
Got a mod that let's you modify any settlement robot, even Buddy. So I gave him sexy assaultron legs. So now he goes around my settlement strutting around.
CDante's mod? IIRC, you can simply build your own version of Buddy. So deliver the original to Rufus and then build your own and have that one stay at a settlement.
Man, I remember walking that robot's slow ass all the way to Sanctuary so I knew he would arrive in one piece. This was back before he was essential, so now I can do this; "You kids have it easy! Back in my day you had to guard your Drinkin' Buddy if you still wanted to have him around!"
I tried to send him to Hangman's Alley before the patch and instead of going through the city he teleported north across the water and started going the longest most obnoxious route you can take to Hangman's. After an hour of escorting he got attacked by rust devil's near county crossing and died, I threw his ass in the river and never played on that character again.
Lol ikr he can make 6 different beers and he makes 40 each of those beets in 12 hrs and can sell them like 5 caps each that's 240 beers in 12 hrs so like 950 or so caps every 12 hrs
Fun fact: Rufus Rubbins used to be Stanley Rubbins, and used to be the bartender in Combat Zone. Internally, Rufus is still called Stanley even, and a marker for the Combat Zone for Drinkin' Buddy to stand at still exists. They actually recorded dialogue for that early on before they changed it too, so with some work it would be possible to restore it.
SSS_0001_ but in all seriousness shut up and keep it to your self, I found the intro to be funny really funny, and that's what we are talking about so if you didn't find it funny like we did please delete the comment and see your self out
"The leader if this Raider group, Gaff, proceeds to attack us." (Gaff walk out of a room as a man in power armor crushes him then process to vaporize him)
@@nobodyxdel2390 no wonder the word denial literally has the letter i in the word if rhymes was the only point of contention then it’s a weak one that’s for sure
I have an object, i can Carry it with one hand and with it i have access to almost everything known to man. And i use it to watch oxhorns fallout 4 Lore videos.... totaly worth it
People did use the internet for learning at one point back in the mid-90's, but then cat videos were discovered and the internet had a new purpose in life.
I don’t think the internet has everything known to man, there is a lot that us people don’t know and that the higher ups don’t want us to know. Don’t want to sound like I’ve lost the plot but it’s true.
I escorted Buddy to the Hotel. Might as well make Goodneighbor a better place and help the place grow. I would love to see Mayor McDonough react to Goodneighbor getting their own Protectron Food Server. And logically speaking, Buddy is safer in Goodneighbor than in a settlement. (Attackers would have to get through the Triggerman and then into the Hotel to hurt Buddy.) (In a Settlement, Buddy can wander anywhere and potentially get shot.)
Here something odd during my play through of the quest. My character got ambush between Mirelurks and Raiders , lucky for me they were more occupied in killing each other than killing me. I then observed either a Glowing Mirelurk or a Razorback Mirelurk (it's been a while and I never recorded it) running into and disappearing into the Taphouse door, so after killing all enemies I prep to enter the Taphouse expecting one of three things to encounter while in there. 1. A battle between the raiders inside and the Mirelurk. 2. One Mirelurk corpse and a lot of alert & pissed off raiders. 3. Lots of Raider corpses and a weaken but enrage Mirelurk. Neither one of those happen. It was business as usual. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?
I had a raider straight up disappear when I was clearing the cell area Lorenzo is in, I kept double checking behind and around me in case she showed back up
My choice was made under the assumption I'd have to follow him all the way back to my settlement lol. Thankfully (but unbeknownst to me at the time) he was patched to be made essential so you don't have to worry about him dying on the way to one of your settlements or the Hotel Rexford. It will just take a while. Kind of regretted not keeping him to be honest but I visit him often.
I kept buddy of course and used him as my personal fridge. Also it seems like I only own half the recepies for him so I already know what I'm gonna do next time load up the game
I cant believe you just posted this video. I've been using your videos as a resource for weeks now in my survival play through. Went to look for a video on this quest/area, and was amazed you didnt have it! keep up the good work ox-man!
I used him myself, but made the terrible mistake of trying to send Buddy to my Settlement on Spectacle Island. Buddy gets stuck on the bottom of the ocean if you do this.
I am a recovering alcoholic but this is one drinking buddy I wouldn't mind paling about with. He's adorable and this was a video I've been waiting for. Thanks Ox!!! XD
He's my buddy he's coming home to my red rocket clubhouse with all my companions so we can relax and drink beer and get high on jet especially me and Hancock he's my let's blow crap up and loot everything buddy lol
I Watch a lot of your videos, I must say it is very well done. Fallout is all I play on, with work and family taking most of my time I only get to play from 4:30am till 6:30am sometimes till 9am on the weekend if I'm lucky. So your videos help me quite a bit saving time for searching and figuring things out, I thank for this.
I always kept DB for myself and sent him to my main HQ to keep it safe and since I will always head there to drop off stuff I stop by him and drop off nuka cola. also more useful for those with the NW dlc to keep their colas cold which makes them even more useful.
I made a Bar dedicated to Drinking Buddy in Egret Tours Marina, built over the sunken boat, mast poking out of the floor as a decoration, open view of the river, it was called "Buddy's Sunken Bar"
Hi Ox. Video idea- consider doing a story video on the survivalist terminal entries in the New Vegas: Honest Hearts add on. The story is right up your alley, and I'd love to see your take on it.
Minor thing you missed: right outside the Taphouse there's a truck with a ramp leading in to the back. It's probably suppose to be the truck hired to deliver Buddy.
I've got to say, I love everything about this quest. It feels like they put an extra dose of heart and soul into this one. The start feels like two guys cooking up a mad plan to get some moonshine, the choice to keep Buddy is great, and the writing for Buddy is top-notch. Everything in Shamrock Taphouse is brilliant. The teddy bears, the caps checkers, the tactically placed Total Hack. Absolutely brilliant.
I keep Buddy every time. In fact I just go there without consulting Rufus. The quest automatically starts but I never intend on letting Rufus have him.
For help with Gwinnett Ale recipe[ Colonian Taphouse], sit in any seat, (Wait) until closing hours(I waited until after 12 AM), go behind the desk and "Grab & Hold" the recipe holotape, carry it over to the entrance and place/drop the tape on the floor, and finally crouch behind the pillar so the barkeeper can't see you. You should then be able to "steal" the tape while being hidden only. I hope that helps.
14:34 I personally have called that process 'Silver Rushing' or 'Silver Rush Cleanout'. Because you know, all of us kleptomaniacs cleaned out the Van Graffs in the exact same way, moving it to the off room or bathroom (unless you used the stealth-boy).
Drinking Buddy if you keep him you don't need to read the holotapes at least in my game. My game must be glitched because beer has become ice cold but the wikia says it cannot. There's mods you can build in your settlement refrigerators which I use with modular per war kitchen that you can make things ice cold instead of buddy lol. Vanilla I keep him he's worth way more in caps than he's offering. Especially with Nuka World DLC. Ice Cold mixes have no Rads and can even remove rads and/or help resist.
Oh it took me 4 hours to complete this quest. Why? Well I was trying to keep buddy with me, but I hate having that fucking quest shit on, and having to go back to the hotel and that guy keep fucking bugging me about Buddy.
I actually find it useful because I can use the quest to track him down if I can't find him. Once he ended up in the glowing, sea idk how because I assigned him to sanctuary (he was already there but then disappeared) So I had to run out to him in the glowing sea, turns out he was stuck in a wall at the Atlantic offices.
wow...i had no idea there was a problem with getting buddy home, so i shadowed him all the way back to the rexford...and you are right...he will attack ANYTHING that pokes it's head out
It sounds like Buddy uses Codsworth's lines. I have the working kitchen equipment mod and the SPECIAL foodmaker mod. Getting a rad-free Gwinnett and putting it in a fridge is nice. When it comes out Ice Cold ( with all the benefits) a couple of days later, well...life is good.
I kept Buddy for strategic Nuka-Cola purposes. Plus, I like the idea of having Buddy as an amenity in Sanctuary -- ice cold drinks, on demand. A rare treat in the wasteland, I'm sure.
Ox! for everyone's sanity please pick up any adhesive while recording, you can throw it away later if you want but it will sure make us feel better :P! All jokes aside, keep up the good work my friend!
That makes me "OCD Crazy" - I watch the vids, and I'm shouting at the screen: "Dude!! 2 rolls of Duct tape . . . and aluminum cans! RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU !!!
I kept him at Sanctuary Hills, which is where I return to after completing missions. First thing I do after storing stuff in the Workshop is look for Drinking Buddy to put Nuka-Colas in and/or take Ice Cold Nuka-Colas out.
The problem with this mission, is you have to hand it in if you want it completed, and it's literally the only alcohol producer that you get. It also chills Nuka Cola and other drinks. It's a massive money making thing, and will easily make your money back for you, especially with all the upgrades.
Well it's not like you really lose Buddy if you turn him in; he's still at the Hotel Rexford, and you can still give him drinks to chill them there. You just have to travel to Hotel Rexford rather than have the convenience of being at your own settlement.
Interesting side note, the panel on the front of Buddy with the buttons actually mean something. They stand for mash, sparge, boil, ferment, and bottle. All these are presented in order of the beer making process.
But wait a second... If a spotlight is wired up to a terminal, whenever you happen across them. Doesn't it always give you the option to turn the spotlights on or off anyways? That seems like a really useless skill.. I've never collected that skill, and every single time I come across spotlights that are hooked up to a terminal, it gives me the option to turn them off...
It turns the spotlights on whoever was previously controlling them. This allows you a better chance of stealth. Of course, like with the turret hack, you usually have to sneak past them in order to use it.
He now works in my Minutemen's Mess Hall at the castle. I can usually find him next to my mess officer behind the counters or at the Bunker Hill merchant tent outside the walls. Serving cold beer for my thirsty minutemen after a hard day of training and being chewed out by Shaw and the travelling caravans :P
Kind of regretted not keeping him (main reason I didn't is I didn't know he had been made essential, and I dreaded having to escort him all the way to Sanctuary) but I do visit him in Hotel Rexford often to hear his jokes and keep my Nuka Cola cold.
3:50 to 4:02 - you mention the settler that was located near gaffs room in the shamrock taphouse. Its interesting to note that the knifes surrounding the settler man can be picked up as items. theres no knifes inside of the settler man. but the settler man is dead. i think the settler man died from a heart attack because he obviously did not get hit by a knife. also theres no blood stains on his white shirt so much evidence it had to be a heart attack rather than a knife wound.
I had an interesting time with this quest. I sent the drinking buddy to Spectacle Island and after a few hours figured I'd return him. I was a little surprised when the quest marker was pointing at the middle of the ocean.
I actually watched this to help with my decision to keep Buddy or bring him to Rufus. I decided to keep him due to the benefits of chilled beverages, plus I figured it would be something nice for my settlers and I rotate Buddy's location to each settlement's bar (if they have one as some places are to small) every in-game week. As my way of making it up to Rufus I'll sell him five of each chilled beer and nuka cola whenever I rotate Buddy's location.
I've always kept buddy for myself. I've gotten quite attached to the little guy. He chills all my drinks making them better and helping me survive out in the wastes and I love all his jokes.
If you find the Drinkin’ Buddy before heading to Hotel Rexford, you again get the quest “trouble brewing” at the point where you can decide whether or not to send it to the Hotel or to keep it for yourself. If you send it to the Hotel it waits for you to announce to one of the workers (Rufas) to its arrival. Where he again gives you his offer in some unique dialogue. Only this time you have the option to sell it to Rufas, or not, when he presents his offer. But again, you forever have the option to give it to Rufus just like if you was the play the quest line normally.
*I got the schematics for Buddy, and I have bars across the commonwealth with Buddy bots as the bartenders, plus other buddy bot waiters. Gotta love mods!*
I gave him to the hotel. He's telling Codworth's jokes & it's so much better being said with a British accent than robotic. I can craft ice cold beverages so I didn't really need him; already have someone manning my bar & the very thought of walking him back to it.....ouch.
some correction the spotlight hack doesn't allyw you to turn them on and off, you can do that normally, all the hacks let you override them meaking turrets target hostiles, spotlights will do the same, fo protectons it lets you turn them friendly or even escort you. Drinkin budy can also Chill any drink, even vim and nuka not just drinks turningthem into the Ice Cold Variants
In my game, PC with updates, Buddy (paulie shore?) got terminated by the not so Super Mutants. After that he just laid there with a quest marker floating above him. I reloaded the previous save and sent him to Sanctuary and was going keep him...but then sent him to Hotel Rexford because I was afraid he'd die if Sanctuary was attacked. His Ice Cold Quantums come in handy.
I ended up finding Buddy through a settlement radiant quest and not the Hotel Rexford. If you find him that way, the quest still gives you to option to send him to the Hotel without explaining anything.
