I am supposed to be trashing the tbr but I just want to say rebecca is great and you should really read that :D Love that you colour code your shelf, that is exciting. I have female of the species and still need to read it as well. Don't read map of days after book 1 the peregrines home for peculiar children just goes downhill... The other bennett sister, american love story and before the coffee gets cold are brilliant. Gavin is great! I thought the god of small things was okay but from what I know of your reading taste you're going to be so bored with the god of small things and you shouldn't read it!
Second First Impressions was pretty good! (I too loved The Hating Game but DNF'd 99 Perfect Mine) Before The Coffee Gets Cold is wonderful! I'd unhaul The Husband's Secret. That was literal trash. Fun concept for a video!

Q’s legacy is super good-and rather quick read. uncommon reader is ok...not the best but a quick read. Duchess of Bloomsbury street is really funny-I laughed so hard on it! Please read the mysterious Benedict society trilogy! It’s such a great series-absolutely worth it!! -before the coffee gets cold isn’t worth it, it was boring. Meddling kids is not worth it White noise is pretentious and boring
I think I gave Beautiful Ruins 3.5 stars. It’s depressing and takes a while to get into. I trashed The God of Small Things when I did my first round of Trash My TBR, and I have been regretting it ever since (not really sure why I feel the regret though).

Ha - this was great! I adore His Dark Materials, so highly recommend reading The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass. And I just read The Duchess of Bloomsbury Street and thought it was delightful and I want Helene Hanff to be my friend even though she's gone. Rebecca is also great, but I'm sure you've heard that before.
This was a lot of fun and you are so wonderful!! The books: I've heard not very good things about Meddling Kids, and I personally thought Speak was somewhat forgettable if you've read books similar to it. Although, Speak is a classic YA so it's up to you and it's a pretty quick read!
This was fun. I read Long Division earlier this year and really liked it, but also found it hard to totally understand (probably not written for me, so I don’t think that’s a fault of the book). I liked Sleeping Giants on audiobook. Also, a tip for how I read middle grade, I use it as a palate cleanser/a way to get out of a possible slump. Tends to work pretty well because they’re usually quick reads
OOOOh good note about Sleeping Giants for audio! And yes - I tend to read a lot of middle grade in the winter time when my brain has stopped working lol
I read beautiful ruins with my friend years ago and I feel like I was meh about it, maybe i liked the summery setting or something, but my friend hated it. Same with Speak, except we both read seperatly sometime in high-school. I dont remember much but he hated it so, so much. The other Bennet sister and two serious ladies are on my tbr shelf too. Im holding out hope that they're great.
This was a lot of fun! I should say that I loved the other Bennett sister, it was one of my favourite books of last year, although the first half was stronger than the second. I read the God of Small things a couple of years ago and still think about it - it's mad beautiful and haunting. The Royal Wedding by Meg Cabot was a fun little adult add on to the Princess Diaries. Hope your head is okay haha 🥰
YEAH okay, I'm getting a general consensus on The Other Bennet Sister - will keep that in mind! AND yes I need to finish reading The Princess Diaries series and then dive into Royal Wedding. ALSO thankfully my head was okay! Wasn't too much wine overall lol
Hi Emma! I’ve heard The Dressmaker is really good. Second First Impressions was cute (it’s no Hating Game but I liked it and it gets better as it goes). And you MUST read The Duchess of Bloomsbury Street if you read 84 Charing Cross Road and liked it. I still have to read Q’s Legacy. Good luck!
Trash all of them except for the single one that I read which is Before the Coffee Gets Cold. Actually I did make an attempt at and couldn't get through Meddling Kids, so ditch that.
Before the coffee gets cold was OK. It was a fast read for me but little bit repetitive and predictable after the first two stories. If you don't read it- you will not miss anything. I have started A God of small things and that book is wordy! The style was very difficult for me but I heard that it is amazing! So maybe don't trust my comment about it.
I fully meant to trash books because that's a personal hobby of mine, but I either do not know or genuinely enjoy most of these books. A Closed and Common Orbit is over it my favorite books of all time so please read that You don't need to finish ADoW since the show is better and the books go downhill. American Panda is that type of YA contemporary that doesn't hold up more than a year after publishing, it's cute but nothing special. The Reading Promise is a solid 3/5 that you'll immediately forget. Sleeping Giants is good but NEVER read the sequels unless you want it ruined. Meddling Kids is interesting but you'll like,,, get it within the first fifty pages and then be tired of it, his other books are better
I had a lot to say about The Birth House but then you said not to trash it 😛 so I'll share something I actually liked about it, which was the setting. As a maritimer myself, she really captured the landscape and mood of Canada's east coast. Also, I thought Aru Shah was way overrated. Started strong but Aru's character is really annoying and every time there was an action scene / suspenseful moment, Aru would say some one-liner that immediately deflated all the tension. So nothing felt like high stakes.
I think this was a fantastic idea for a video. Sadly, I have read NONE of these books and only have about 5 of them on my own TBR, so I’m not sure I’ll be much help. I can say ditch all the Nora Roberts because while I have never read her, I met her at a book signing years ago (my mom is a fan) and was so disgusted by her rude and ungrateful behavior at the signing that I swore I’d never read her books. 🤷🏻♀️
Thank you!! Yeah, I'm a big Nora Robert's fan so I'll probably not trash those books but also I'm not too surprised she isn't very nice. I've known people who have met her and said she was nice and then other's who had a similar experience to your mom. Sorry she had such a bad time with her!!! That's a bummer!
Second First Impressions was OK. It wasn't as good as The Hating Game & I felt it wasn't much of a romance. The romance took the back seat and it was much more of a coming of age, but I wasn't really attached to anyone.
the husband's secret is very underwhelming imo. the 'secret' was like.... very obvious from the getgo and then nothing really happens. ive read a couple liane moriarty books and not really liked them so i think if you've enjoyed her other books, you may like it? but otherwise nah
I loved a lot of these but my trash-oriented opinions are like so: The Other Bennet Sister was cute but much too long and lacked the Austen sense of humour. I dnf’d the Second First Impression audiobook because it was very cringe. Loved your video/descent into madness! 💖
Ok I have more to say: didn’t really like The Jane Austen Book Club, it felt bland. I actually rather liked Beautiful Ruins (sorry), but it was not super memorable and I have since got rid of it. Fun in the moment, but not a favourite. That’s it! Please don’t get rid of Rebecca!!
YEAHHHHHHH I think I'll probably get rid of The Jane Austen Book Club soon. I enjoyed the movie so I'll just stick with that. Def will not get rid of Rebecca seems to be a favorite here in the comments
I could not get through Lamb on account of there being SO MUCH sexual objectification of every female character. I liked Yiddish Policeman's Union medium throughout - I'd say skip it unless you're really intrigued.
I didn't really care for before the coffee gets cold. it was simply too cheesy and preachy, and the way the characters talk was super annoying. on the other hand I loved a beautifully foolish endeavor!!!
