For years, people have been suggesting that drinking in moderation is good for your health. Since I’ve been imaging the brain, I’ve found none of this to not be factual.
A new analysis of more than 40 years of research has concluded that many of those studies were flawed. The research found that risks of dying prematurely increase significantly for women once they drink 25 grams of a alcohol a day, which is less than 2 standard cocktails.
The risks to men increase at 45 grams a day, which is just over 3 drinks. The study analyzed almost 5 million adults.
Research was published and can be read further in JAMA “Association Between Daily Alcohol Intake and Risk of All-Cause Mortality
Stop lying, alcohol isn’t a health drink! 🚫 🤯🍷🍻🍾🍸🚫

I hate the effects of alcohol! My dad died from alcoholism, age 42, his brain was gone right before he died. I was the last one to see him. Liver destroyed. Heart attack right before he died. I was 15. 😭😭😭 Because of that, I've been clean and sober since 1997 and loving a healthy conscious lifestyle based on chanting Nam Myoho Renge Kyo. I became happy and healthy. I vowed to never go down that rabbit hole or put anyone through that pain. I have found alcoholics to be very difficult to reason with in general.

Good for you. My children's father is dying of alcoholism. Both my kids are stone cold sober, too. It's very difficult to witness. He never meant to hurt them, but he did. Take care of yourself and change the legacy 🎉!!!!

Thank you Dr. Amen. You have been encouraging people to stop consuming alcohol for years. I think this new study will encourage doctors and others to advocate for people to stop alcohol consumption.

Thank you so much, Dr Amen, for debunking the long standing marketing that a glass of wine is good for you. My cardiologist had opened my eyes to that four years ago when I had heart issues: "No such thing as red wine is good for the heart, it's alcohol and any quantity of alcohol is bad for the heart" I then stopped drinking and never had any heart issues ever since.❤

You're not you when you drink and your friends are not your friends when they drink. You guys are the buzzed, influenced versions of yourselves, the alcohol is doing the talking. If you're "social when you drink", then you're not a social person. If you're "more confident and less inhibitious after a glass" then you, YOU are not confident. Everyones social, confident and outgoing after a drink. Thats why we call it "being under the influence". There's a reason we disqualify PED users from competition. We want to see what the man/woman can do, not what the substence can do.

I had to stop drinking as I depended on it for social anxiety to the point I’d blackout and wake up the next day not knowing what happened, I could drink a few beers at home as there was no threat but I could never drink moderately on a night out ..

Dr Amen! I unfortunately live in Australia and can't seem to find a clinic similar to yours. I have a brother who has been a threat on our family and his for a long time and honestly fear for mine, my children and my families life. He fits the definition of malignant narcissistic to a T. He has also some some horrific stuff in his life, so has the potential to be quiet violent. He has also suffered with skitzerphrena due to drug use 10 years ago. My question is, can you fix a malignant narcissist with your program and can you recommend any clinics that are similar to yours here. I'm begging for help.

Dr Amen: I usually like your advice however, people have been drinking red wine for more than 8,000 YEARS! Even JESUS made red wine. I think anything in excess or in large quantities can be bad for you. However, the psychological benefit (happiness, memories etc.) that come with drinking red wine in moderation outweigh the science. Cheers!

so many people can't have fun, can't sing, can't speak to people without a little glass of alcohol. Could one glass a week be a benefit if it helps socially a lot. How people can "let it go" a bit, just a bit, without alcohol? Any food? Any drink?

100% agree It’s like taking wild caught salmon that has grown in a plastic free environment in pristine water and rolling it in bleached white flour and frying it in transfat. Yeah Salmon is fantastic for you, but packed like that its benefits are grossly drowned out. The compound in red wine they talk about is resevetrol - but go appraise the research that exists on it. It’s not a cause and effect, close the book relationship to positive health outcomes it’s marketed as

In France, they say : for women 1 drink a day max, and men 2 max. But I think they say this regarding cancer risks, they don't look at "smaller brain risks". In your other video, you said that 1 or 2 drinks a week is already too much. Do you say this from your SCAN observations? or from the studies you hold in hour hands in this video.

@@cateelisabethlsn6400pretty sure this can kill an alcoholic if they're at a certain stage of dependency. @lizasintic6926 surely Alcoholics Anonymous is free? The community saved my uncles life and the support network was strict but necessary. Maybe see if there are meetings in your area? The first step really is them admitting they have a problem but good luck, many people recover from such an affliction and I wish them the best. ❤
