Just so you know, this video is still very relevant and helpful. The replacement process of a hot cartridge on a 25+ year old faucet that still looks like new was a challenge because the cartridge was exactly like this one rather than a newer cart. shown in most of the other videos, including one on the Fister site. Fortunately, others had mentioned the swap of the old brass fitting on the new cartridge but the supplied instructions were very incomplete. Finally figured out using the new upper and lower gasket and got the job done. Found this video after the fact and appreciate the validation that I was on the right track. For others who may need help with part numbers on older PF faucet/cartridges, the Fister site will identify model names and cartridge number of older models not archived in their search database if you send a pic of the faucet.

Thanks for the video. Took me 15 minutes to complete the job at home. All the best.

Great job on this, thanks for making and sharing it. I’ve watched five or six videos on this topic (Pfister specifically) and yours is the best so far. Thanks for covering that the cartridge can break apart when you’re trying to pull it up, and also showing the type of leak that happens when you fail to include the old rubber ring when putting the new cartridge in.

This was a very helpful video - particularly because of how you adapted the new plastic valve to the old brass pieces. This is what I encountered with my faucet so taking the replacement valve apart is what I had to do as well. I wouldn't have figured this out without your video! Thanks!

Super super helpful!! Thank you so much! I was a bit disconcerted when the cartridge came apart so I’m glad that’s all apart of the process!

Great video. I had the same problem with the bottom of the valve body being stuck. I tried using a small screwdriver (among other tools) to pry it out, but to no avail. Finally, I drove an appropriately sized screw (that bit into the center plastic opening), and used it to pull out the bottom part of the valve body.

This was a really helpful video. I don't think I would have been able to install correctly otherwise. However, at time 3:09, when your remove the plastic collar, there is a rubber O-ring up inside the collar. The paper instructions do not mention this, but they do say to discard that blue O-ring. That got me thinking and I found the correct O-ring inside the white collar. So I transferred that O-ring inside the white collar to inside the brass collar and did not experience the stem leakage you had. So, don't use the blue ring, it's just packing material. The correct O-ring is provided. Now if they'd just provide better instructions.

Yes, very good point!! I just had a 25 year old PF hot cartridge on one of three faucets that all still look like new, start dripping. So I did not want to buy new faucets. Got the replacement cart. and extras for when the rest start going bad, checked videos, including one on Fister site and thought I was good to start. The supplied instructions were very incomplete. Videos I had watched showed slightly different original cartridges (I found this video after the fact) and I couldn't get the old brass piece to fit properly as shown in those videos but some step by step trial and error exactly as you describe with o-rings and gaskets finally did the trick. Plumbing, always little surprises along the way!

Hi, I was fortunate to come across your video with the same faucet and just replaced my hot and cold water cartridges with confidence after watching your video several times. Your link to parts was very helpful as I did not have the price pfister model information tag . That it was necessary to remove the protective plastic covers to expose the cartridges to fit in the openings. Thanks for your great video.

You should have used the new o-ring that's inside the white plastic sleeve.

Thank you. I wasn't sure how to get the knob and base off. I thought I screwing the sleeve on the base would doi it, but it didn't.

Can't get the screw out for the hot water handle. I'd replaced the cold water one before, so it has a Phillips head type screw. On the hot side the screw is so rusty in there, that I can't tell whether it is Phillips or Allen wrench type.

Great video. Ty. Ours does not have either. The little cap does not come off either. When I try to turn the entire faucet, something is holding it. How the heck do I get the handle off?

The top piece (cap) on the pivot point of the handle should just pop off.

Very informative and a great help. One thing though. I didn't have a problem with the old cartridge falling apart when I removed it. BUT after I took the old one out, I noticed there was thin gasket ring that was remaining in the sink handle...like it was a part of the bottom of the old cartridge. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to keep it in there or attach it to the bottom of the new cartridge. When I did attempt to attach it to the bottom of the new cartridge and attempt to screw down the new cartridge, I couldn't get the threads to engage. But when I removed that old gasket ring, I was able to screw it down fine. So my question is, am I fine without having a gasket underneath the new cartridge? Are the new cartridges designed to not need that bottom gasket ring anymore?

It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure you did right removing it. As long as the water is flowing and there are no leaks, you should be good. 👍
