Everyone always says these cars are difficult to maintain and the braking system is very complicated… baloney. These cars are super simple. All you have to do is read the documentation. I own three of these cars, various years and they’re super reliable easy to work on and provide endless driving pleasure. I’m glad you fixed it up.

Many RR owners will disagree with you, having to completely replace the entire the braking system after 7 years regardless of anything, every 20 months changing the brake oil is just expensive, excessive and complicated. It’s the reason these cars get left and end up being recycled

@@SilasChapman Not sure where this information came from, it certainly doesn't correspond with my experience having brought, sold and owned these cars for many years. They don't like standing which tends to do more damage to the braking system than anything else. If you have never owned one, I recommend it.

I own MercCustoms we specialize in the restoration of classic European cars, like Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Mercedes-Benz, and Ferrari. I own four Rolls-Royce vehicles personally, and we work on these things every single day, five days a week, and I am telling you with 100% certainty that a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow is dead simple compared to its contemporaries a Mercedes-Benz 116 6.9 for example, is light years more complicated but yet they don’t have this reputation. Range Rovers also way more complicated. Rolls-Royce is not the only car with a mineral oil, nitrogen sphere type brake system Many cars of that era, including Mercedes had some type of hydraulic system, whether it be self-leveling, or for braking. Another reason these cars are dead simple is because companies like intro car stock almost everything you need to keep them on the road.. trying to find parts for these other older euro cars can be very challenging Also most Silver Shadows don’t have a kjet derivative fuel injection system.

@@MichaelBrown-ho5wc most people are impressionists, they have no direct experience but they do talk about it as if they have.....

When the Shadow 11 was introduced in 1977 the first few cars didn't have the wash wipe system, after about 6 months all cars were fitted with them. These are known by enthusiasts as wash wipe cars. From a practical perspective they aren't very effective, but are an interesting talking point.

Amazing barn find .... beautiful cars if you can live with the maintenance. Just be ready for someone to stop you at a traffic light for some Grey Poupon. 😃
