Lenghu Town, used to be one of the four major oil fields in China, but now it is in ruins. It is a town under the jurisdiction of Mangya City, Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, is located in the northwest of Mangya City, on the northwest edge of the Qaidam Basin, bordering Dachaidan Administrative District in the east, Mangya Town in the west, and Gansu Province in the north Aksay Kazak Autonomous County borders on the northwest of Bayingoleng Mongol Autonomous Prefecture in Xinjiang.
Lenghu Town got its name from the "cold lake" in its territory, which was named in 1956. Lenghu was originally a no-man's land, under the jurisdiction of Dulan County. In 1957, the Lenghu Office was established directly under the Qaidam Administrative Committee. In 1960, Lenghu City was established. In 1964, it was downgraded to a town. In 1992, it was upgraded to an administrative committee. In 1993, the town of Lenghu was restored.
Lenghu Town used to take oil exploration as its main pillar industry. Later, due to the depletion of oil field resources, the team moved westward, and the development of Lenghu Town was affected.
