Driver identified in Jeep, Tesla crash on Mt. Charleston facing multiple charges

The driver accused of hitting a Tesla with a Jeep on a mountain outside of Las Vegas and driving away has been identified, according to a Nevada State Police traffic crash report obtained by News 3.

It's a misdemeanor that happened outside the presence of law enforcement. The officer cannot arrest on a misdemeanor he did not witness, the exception being domestic violence. Chances are there will be a warrant of arrest issued for the Jeep driver after review by the local DA.

@@kanutecarson1 Not sure if you're serious or not. The Tesla kept going because the driver was stunned and kept foot on the pedal. Possibly because they were confused and using "One Pedal Driving" so they kept doing what they had been doing to slow down. The Jeep was all the way over in the Tesla's lane. Definite the Jeep driver's fault.

In the extended clip, the Tesla literally keeps going down the road, too--like there is a 'hit and run' feature the Tesla's driver accidentally hit. Joking aside, the Jeep's driver was responsible to wait around or at least self report later on, but it must have seemed weird to seemingly get a retaliatory smack and push out of the way and then see the car take off down the road.

In this version, once the out of control Jeep driver hit the couple in the Tesla, the Tesla's driver also rams into the Jeep and pushes its way across the street. In extended versions, the Tesla keeps going like its driver is committing hit and run. I am not defending the Jeep's driver as it was her responsibility to ultimately come forward, but initially it must have seem really weird to hit a car and then the car's driver seemingly retaliates, pushes through, and then takes off down the road recklessly.

Exactly. The driver in the jeep caused the accident, but the tesla driver rammed the jeep so hard that it shoved it clear to the side. When the jeep hit, they barley even jolted forward it was such a light impact. it was the rammer in the tesla that caused most of that damage. I'm willing to bet they fled because they thought the tesla driver was going to try and kill them. What the jeep did was an accident. they were even doing the speed limit. What the tesla did is attempted murder with a motor vehicle.

You don’t know this event was traumatic to someone. Maybe this woman was afraid to drive in the first place and then this happened. Maybe she was involved in a bad accident. Everyone is not the same and not everyone handles situations the same. Just because you and I would handle it one way doesn’t mean everyone will. This couple went through a lot of stress before this news story where to located the driver of that jeep. It’s not something that was solved in the same day.

Speed may not have been a significant problem, but the jeep took the curve very badly. The woman appeared unable to handle the jeep. Was she drunk?...which would certainly be one reason to leave the scene as soon as possible. Wouldn't you rather have a ticket for leaving the scene of an accident than a DUI? She was totally out of control. Her head bounced like a rag doll's when she hit the Tesla. That's significant force.

It's not speeding at all.. Half of the jeep's body was in Tesla's Lane for more than 10 seconds that's why it crashes into Tesla head on. A lot of Asians drivers take other's drivers lanes when they make turns. When I make left turn, I stay in my left lane Asians drivers can't seem stay in their lanes. That jeep was making a right turn it didn't stay in it's lane when making the turn .

Teslas use what’s called one pedal driving where you really don’t use the brake pedal most of the time it’s more likely that she panicked from the accident and stomped on the accelerator pedal thinking it was the brake pedal.

Honestly it looks like the Jeep hit the Tesla going maybe 10 mph? They almost had it stopped. I think most of the Tesla damage occurred when Doofus floored it into the hill. I think the Tesla driver caused more damage looking for a big legal payout. I mean watch, he backed up, rammed the Jeep, shoved it away then floored it into a hillside.

That was two separate crashes. The first one was the Jeep sliding into the Tesla. After a few moments, the Tesla begins to actively accelerate and crashes into the Jeep, pushing it back.

⁠@@romanflores5505only if you don’t have full coverage. If you do, then your insurance will fix your vehicle and do what they can to get the money reimbursed from the other drivers insurance company. It’s my job everyday. With a video like this, even though there was no plate to identify the vehicle, there is a team who watches social media and news, plus keep in contact with the reporting police to see how/ if this vehicle can be identified. We also call different businesses in the area to see if there were any cameras in the area that may have caught the fault vehicle. All we need is a license plate number. You really don’t know what happeneds on the back end.
