Ah man, this was awesome! Imagine seeing that Ram appear in your rear view mirror. There's something inherently fun about taking inappropriate cars/bikes where they shouldn't go. And Marc's a great sport too.
As a TRX owner I truly love this video. Absolutely fantastic! I love videos of cars (in this case big truck) doing things they're not supposed to be doing lol. Would love to see someone attempt this with big brakes, and some road racing tires. Cheers to you!
This was absolutely great! The Ram actually gave a darn good account of itself on the track. Way better than I thought it would be. It would have been a lot faster if the brakes were not cooked early on. But there are available over the counter fixes for that. The truck leaned a whole lot less in the corners than I thought it would. It’s made for the suspension to move. And move a lot.
Iirc, both brembo and stoptech sell bolt-in kits for the Ram and Ram TRX, while Wilwood has a general FCA kit that requires some minor modifications. A good 4 piston front and 2 piston rear setup with new wheels and sticky tires (stock wheels only fit off-road tires or Bossier drag slicks at 325/65-18) would do it wonders. Problem is, Goodyear is about the only brand that makes performance tires that fit full size trucks, though they only sell them as all seasons. They only make one 22 sport tire: the Goodyear Eagle Touring 285/45R22. They make two 275/55R20 tires. Dunlop Sport 5000M And the GY Eagle LS2. Best way to make the truck better would be to remove the skid plates and exdeas weight so the brakes and tires aren't overworked. You can remove several hundred pounds just by removing skid plates.
Put a brake upgrade and this TRX would be insane on that track. RAM should use this as a promo video for the TRX to show how bad ass it is. I loved it 👏👏
There's just something exotic about seeing an American pick-up truck on the nurburgring with an overstuffed, overpowered supercharged V8 echoing the symphony of Detroit through those tailpipes while instilling fear onto the european hot hatches and miatas below. Thank you for this.
That was me a couple weeks ago in the F150, we got through the barrier, three of four car lengths past and a steward came running shouting at us! I wish now I just drove! 😂
There are things in life that gets compromised. When we talk about big American pick-up trucks cars there is an inevitable performance handicap. The TRX does well in the 0-60 mph because of the great traction and powerful engine producing also lots of torque but when is time to do top speed runs or taking turns or braking the 6400lbs is its achilles tendon. When you want to go fast and stable with high speed, good braking and good handling then you get a viper. On the video you can see the TRX passing a lot of 100-150hp cars, sometimes 200 to 250 hp cars. Good video by the way.
@@stickshift13 I believe it it passed the M2 and the GT3, what I also believe is that the M2 or the GT3 were just there taking their cars for a spin and not being driven competitively.
Can't wait to pick mine up and now I know it will get a major Baer brake upgrade but truly insane. This is the kind if content we need to see more of !!
This is absolutely hilarious and amazing. As a RAM owner, love to one or on the ’ring. I don’t imagine there are too many RAM trucks out there, much less the insane TRX versions.
If anybody is curious the reason the RTX has such small brakes relative to its size is because when off-roading the ground offers a lot of rolling resistance. it like driving in a sand trap all the time.
That's a beautiful truck an sounds awesome, I bet the mpg is really bad in it though, still it's a beautiful machine and stands out way more than the supercars and sports cars etc ,great fun video greetings from Scotland 🏴👍😁
Interesting seeing this on that historic track. Yes the brakes were cooked a bit, and these brakes are larger than what is on the standard 1/2 ton trucks for the weight and horsepower of this truck. At 9:00 - 9:10 the TRX comes up behind this little yellow thing and I am sure that guy saw a whole lot of grille from the TRX in his rearview mirror. Now the other thing I am wondering is how much fuel he used driving just one lap. 700hp is a thirsty engine when running wide open I would have loved to drive that truck on that track and would be ok with driving it since I own a 2002 Ram 1500 truck that I drive everyday where I live And somebody mentioned Sabine Schmitz will have loved to get her hands on driving this TRX right in her backyard where she spend a lot of time at and she has driven a lot of things there.
WOW that was very awesome! Thank you for driving that beast in that track!!! Next step is try it again but with some mods Such as bigger and better break system, lowering kit and low profile racing tires, then see how it keeps up with the race cars.
Voice of reason when hearing "Dangerous and Fun" in the same sentence: Don't do it. Car enthusiasts: Fun? Sign me UP! Also, on the video editing side of things, not sure what program you use but I bet every editing program has a similar function: Feather your audio for 2 frames. It gets rid of the popping you get sometimes on scene transitions. Cleans up the video a lot and makes it more professional!
Pleaseee do the same again hahaha, with a semi slicks tires, and an upgrade brakes, bigger rotors, 8 piston calipers 🤤 and the stiffer suspension mode...
That hellcat HEMI V8 is always entertaining. Despite the truck not being anywhere close to a fast lap times, the driver and passenger had so much fun! They are just laughing at the end there thinking how ridiculous it is but it is real and they surely had a lot of fun.
it's funny because the brakes on that thing are MASSIVE and as long as you don't get them hot, they work incredibly well! I'm not sure you can really fit any more brake under an 18" tire. You might need to get carbon/carbon ones instead.
Went BTG in Nissan R390 GT1 last night.....2 laps....IRacing.....6:11 and then 5:56....gonna do full Nord later tonight and see how quickly this monster gets around and down The Straight
