Ian, could you do a detailed video on using the Tachograph card. Like a day of truck driving but you include using the Tachograph everytime you stop, whether its for a break or doing deliveries and so on. It would be very helpful 😅
Thank you for posting Ian, you know in this day & age there should be no shared cabins, who wants to sleep in a shared room with a total stranger, you would not do it in a Hotel. I have always liked Scania trucks, they pull like a train, however what the company buys for a fleet will usually be down cost and discounts available.
We’ve got Daf XG mirror cam on our firm and they are deeply unpopular. The cameras are prone to going blank making it extremely dangerous if you are on a motorway, no depth or perception, can’t easily detect vehicles flashing you in and out. The cameras get hit as you can’t see them, ours do not follow the trailer around whilst reversing but do going forwards. Night time vision is absolutely atrocious on our models and I mean atrocious, it’s like having cataracts with headlights behind you. Many of us feel these things are dangerous and should never have been approved within the industry. Fuel economy over safety.
We had dafs, mercs, scania, volvo and an iveco on the firm used to work for. I personally prefered the daf xf for comfort. Loved the big American rigs always wanted to drive one. Nearest I got was an old mack was in the export yard I once worked for years ago. had a strange offset cab which I never understood why got a photo of it somewhere.
Do these new model DAFs have that annoying warning tone? Head melting The warnings will be back on by the time your get out the gate 😅 Do Dixon work with self employed drivers? Lovely off in a new truck, safe travels.
Always alarms me when companies need that many drivers in one go..Seems to speak volumes about what their like to work for if they can’t keep there staff..Why Have Dixons fucked Scania and Volvo off ? we had a XG+ on Demo for 2 weeks I had it Norway then Greece then Italy we nice @ 1st but struggled we always run heavy as well I conveyed with another bloke in a 770 and he always a good hour or 2 ahead of me buy the end of the hours on the card that’s daily setting off in the morning together so imagine if you Multiply over a year ?..If my oppo hadn’t waited for me every morning he would of been back in the uk @ least 1 day earlier then me if you do the over the year the hours gained having the extra power to get the the job done makes no financial sense having a comfortable unit with no power I understand not everyone does the same demanding work we do..The numbers just don’t add up having one of these doing the continent

Good man, you were recommended to me by a lad from Roscommon living in Arizona driving for Walmart out in Fontana California. I’m from Cork myself driving my own truck over here in the States. Ran to the Continent back in the early 2000’s for O Sullivan’s out of Castletownbere Co Cork. Bit of Trivia for you, in 1999 I drove a truck for Micheal Dixons Uncle who is John Dixon. Comfortable lorry but mirrors unnecessary tech imo. Heard all kinds of stories about led headlights appearing to flash on the screens when they aren't.

The 70's was about the best time for european truck driving.No mobile phones,no www and then the tachograph came in....start of the slippery slope i afraid. Truck driving is a rubbish job in 2024. MIcro managed by spotty kids in huge offices.
The standard mirrors on the new daf look like old telephones but mirror cams look shite! They look like a dog with no ears. You can spend a fortune customising any truck with mirror cam and it will never be a real truck. " just my opinion "
have you got your 2 breathalizers in the truck as you have to carry them in europe and other safety stuff if you drink and drive next day you can be over the limit its %0 in europe just letting you know Ian im not bothered what you eat just stop showing off
Worst trucks ever made and also why don't take young people of dole for driver artic lorry drivers and it's hard for new drivers to get work of Company's because companies looking for 2 years experience when new drivers don't have experience in ridig truck driver
