Took the Subaru Crosstrek up with kaye and the robin the corgi to hollister hills SVRA. Had some fun with the homies Jay and Daniella in the Toyota 4Runner. We’re just some noobs doing noob things trying not to break our cars lol.

Thanks for showing the easy trails. I've never done it, but would like to try. Amazing how much more interesting the Crosstrek looks with bigger wheels/tires. (It was 12 min in, but glad you finally took the key fob off; it was annoying.)

No problem and yeah learning things as I go, I think I was just concentrated so I didn’t realize it was clacking lol.

Thanks for the upload! I am thinking to go there soon to off road for the first time with my Renegade. It seems like the trails were mostly flat with few bigger bumps right? How far did you go and how long was your round trip?
@RoamWithJon
@RoamWithJon 3 года назад
mmm for the most part it was just washboard, but there are some serious rutted areas there. I had to drive on the ruts to avoid bottoming out!
@AustinH7
@AustinH7 3 года назад
Some big ruts lately at Hollister, I just went yesterday. Seemed more rutted out than last time. The renegade should do fine as long as you have 4wd. And drive on top of the ruts

Thank you for the video reviewing the "easy" trails. I'm surprised your keychain doesn't drive you nuts. For future RU-vid videos you should use a quick disconnect or something.

Thanks! Lol I feel that! There’s a staging area that has a bunch of tables and awnings. That would probably be the best place to eat.

Nice video, may I ask what are these green trails called? Or if you go there and just follow all the green signs? is it a loop? Thanks

They give you a map at the front. Even very trailhead is marked for difficulty.

Nice video. I live in the central valley. Would a stock 2011 Forester do fine around here?

I believe so, I did a lot with my stock crosstreek, even more when I put a/t’s on it
@RoamWithJon

I but when I came here I was on a 2” lift and a/t tires, some of the greens might be a little tough clearance wise

Did you guys have to air down for that section?
@RoamWithJon
@RoamWithJon 4 года назад
We probably should have just out of habit, but for the greens they were mostly just flat dirt roads. No real need to air down in my opinion

So how is the process in doing this? Do you just show up, pay the fee, and hit it? I have a CA road registered truck, do I need any kind of permits etc?
@RoamWithJon
@RoamWithJon 3 года назад
Pretty much, you just show up, pay the fee, then they give you a number to the padlock at the gate up the road, open it and have fun. Depending on the day it gets really full, and I think they close it down after X amount of people enter.
@RoamWithJon
@RoamWithJon 3 года назад
No permits or anything needed for a regular road vehicle.

yo man. im looking at getting a 2013 crosstrek with 92k miles. would you trust that?
@RoamWithJon
@RoamWithJon 3 года назад
Kinda depends on where it’s been, service history, amount of owners, ect. If it looks good they’re typically a long running car.

Hey bro, went there yesterday, empty no one there, had an awesome time, barbecued near the first restrooms, lots of shade. We brought my wife’s 4Runner and my son’s ranger, both did great, blue trail was fun! My son also has a cross track that we want to bring next time, but have you lifted or leveled yours since this video? Just wondering if maybe we should look into doing that before we bring it and try a blue trail.
@RoamWithJon
@RoamWithJon 2 года назад
I believe in this video it was lifted 2” I would think you’d be able to do the blues with it id just bring some max tracks maybe if there’s some traction issues. I actually don’t have this car anymore I traded it In for a Tacoma lol
@daves485
@daves485 2 года назад
@@RoamWithJon there were not really any traction issues, just minor clearance issues if any, it did get a little tight in some spots where little branches rubbed the side gently, no damage though. Congrats to your new truck! Although I seen a couple of really lifted cross treks with everything you could possibly put on a Subaru the first time we went and they were really getting it!
@RoamWithJon
@RoamWithJon 2 года назад
@@daves485 appreciate it! When I say traction issues I really mean if there’s any wheel lift in most cases the subi will try to direct power to the wheel in the air, he can get lockers and that should fix the issue aswell 🤙🏽
@daves485
@daves485 2 года назад
@@RoamWithJon I’ll try to send you the link to our trip, you can see for your self, I’m not very techy but I’ll give it a try. I think you don’t even need 4wheel drive for the blue, just clearance. We were trying to get to hector heights but missed the turn, although we were almost there , the views were amazing up there!

Crazy how I was just there earlier this year with some lifted subies. Will be posting that video soon this upcoming month.
