Here's a Sunday afternoon trip through the original downtown of Kennesaw, Georgia. Coming soon: Barrett Parkway, Marietta Square, East Atlanta Village, and Little 5 Points.
I grew up in the neighborhood behind the museum and the church shirley drive. I still live here and its in no way the same city it was. I miss the way it use to be
at 4:02... you cut their lawn and I was baptized there when I converted to Catholicism I think about 1988? at 5:33 Ben King Road is where the Catholic Church moved to... St. Catherine of Siena, IIRC. 40 years living in and around Atlanta and I think Kennesaw gives you the best balance between small town feel and proximity to The ATL.
I bought several guns from Harold's Pawn Shop, Cantrell Park, the park that was never shown was a former cow pasture, North Cobb High School is in Acworth, Georgia not Kennesaw.
There's a series of books at Barnes & Noble that tell you all about Kennesaw, Acworth, Lockheed-Martin, and all sorts of local history. It says that church was a Methodist church that dates back to the 1800's. I think it's now being used as something besides a church but the buildings are still there!
