That one with the pedestrian though. They shouldn’t be allowed to cross if the driver has the green light to go… but I guess that would be a hazard to look for in the test…
A green light simply means that the driver may enter the intersection, but it does not guarantee that the path ahead will be clear. Give-way rules still apply. See clause 3.2 of the Land Transport (Road User) Rule 2004. The only time when you won't need to give way to pedestrians or to oncoming traffic is when there is a green ARROW for your chosen direction.
It goes both ways. If you affect traffic flow, you affect safety. But recently, the traffic lights are horrendous in their judgments. I dunno whose operating them. Or what's operating them. But it's bad, 2007-2016 wasn't like this.
