Driving the Morgan Aero 8 in South Africa: Quirky but Brilliant? 

This 2007 Morgan Aero 8, a Series 3 model, is currently for sale and listed here:

NOTE: The power and torque outputs are incorrect in the video. The corrected figures are 245kW and 450Nm, though upped outputs did not really affect the performance figures all that much.
The Morgan Aero 8 is an incredibly rare sight in South Africa. Only a handful more than 200 of these Series 3 cars were manufactured, and out of those, fewer than five came to South Africa. So, you hardly ever see one for sale, and even more rarely get the opportunity to take one for a test drive.
This particular car is currently for sale and has done less than 19 000km, so looks and feels brand new. But is the Morgan Aero 8 just a quirky British throwback, or a serious sportscar? I take it for a spin to find out.
