Oh, and BTW, this is a flightsimulator…! 😳 I keep pinching myself. I started flightsimming in the 80’s, with wire frame gfx and I’ve played FPS shooters with much less detailed terrain. Much smaller terrain too. Totally amazing stuff this is. 👍
Likewise! It's amazing what our imaginations created to compensate for the graphics back then. Pretty special to see it come so far & what was only a dream then
I started with MS combat flight simulator back in around 2005? It blown my mind back then, together with MSFS 2004. We have much nicer things now, but I am no longer a kid and cannot find time to play anymore. Such a pity.
I bought it for $14.99 or in my part of the world £11.99. Quite the bargain I'd say. Thanks for doing the grand tour for us. I shall look forward to part two.
It has incredible details and all. Map is even more populated than most old open world games such as GTA:SA, but.....colour palette is once again wrong. Everything is too bright, vibrant and saturated. Its really off-putting seing than from height. I just wish it had more blue and less saturated tint MSFS has Also way too much yellow and red colour overall. It really need thicker atmosphere making distant object more bluyish. Also. Are those German trains in London?
Thanks, yes I agree they still have very bright green like the original. I think the Channel map has a more believable tone. Haha didn't think of that, but the do all look same trains!
@@lankypilot778 I mean upscale it in video editor. Not in the game itself. It is just a trick to get better video stream bitrate, so on youtube will be less compression artifacts. You can check on one of my two latest videos. They both were recorded in 1080p but upscaled to 1440p in video editor. Image quuality on YT in 1440p is better than 1080p, but source was 1080 ))
You must own the combined arms module first. Then in the editor, you can filter drivable vehicles to place. Once in game go to f10 map, click on the unit & theres an icon up to to drive
If DCS were to bring in playable tanks and flak vehicles, then I would turn my back on War Thunder completely and uninstall it. This also looks better than IL-2 in my opinion
Yes atm there are playable tanks & flak guns but not high fidelity, no interiors and physics not modelled with accuracy. Also can't knock down trees etc. If we can get ground combat to same level as IL2 or red orchestra games I'll be one happy chappy. For me IL2 doesn't come close map wise tho, still nice but nowhere close to same detail
and fyi, just to clarify, the avenue going west of the arc de triomphe is called "avenue de la grande armee", "les champs elysees" are on the eastern side
Yes impossible to merge them. I think the fact they have modelled the Channel areas with detail they have is impressive. Would help for mp servers just having one. Altho for me the Channel will be my go to for the North.
@@lankypilot778 it might be a big ask, but I live in Southend near London so can you make a tour around Southend? If the world's longest pier is modelled than you can drive down that. I would really appreciate it if you could. Thanks so much you are an amazing channel!
@@jesphillips2193 hey! I've been out of dcs for a bit unfortunately but I will try keep it in mind. Might be modelled on this map or the Channel map. You just added an extra bit of knowledge for me. Thanks for watching :)
@@lankypilot778 Nice fly-by with the P-47s! The Sherman column was pretty cool too. I'd be interested in what kind of max / min frames you get with the 1080ti in this map. I just have a GTX 980 and the frames aren't great. Very stuttery over detailed areas. Wondering if it is worth upgrading the GPU in my 11 year old system.
@@kontiuka yeah tough one mate with upgrades, i was very surprised with frames for the age of my system. Whether a gpu will be the answer hard to say, I'm sure would help, but depends on where the bottlenecks are. For me an m.2 ssd slot was the biggest improvement over yrs
