For me you're the most reliable reviewer/drone channel-guy out there. If im unsure when it comes to "drone-decision-stuff" i always just have to browse your channel to find the right answers and opinion. Of course there are other good and trusty reviewers on yt....but totally prefer the english language and pronounciation over this american english blabla....or well in most of the cases atleast. Ofc joshua bardwell, rcAddict, kababFPV, stu from uav, envy astro+seth and Bruce from rc model reviews doin a GREAT job aswell....but you are always a tad more enjoyable to listen too. Thanks for that dude
Good job Andy for your down to earth and realistic appraisal of this sim. I have been a fan of DRL since its inception, but being in AU, or just being cheap, I don't seem to have access to the ESPN full episodes, and I can't find them anywhere on the net! I am glad to see you running my newest radio, that makes me happy for compatibility etc. Thanks again.
This is an incredible Sim once it's set up. I have them all and I really like the effort put into the maps. I would easily pay for it as I've paid for the others. It does need some physics tuning like all of them except freerider. Freerider has the best physics I've found and feels like my stuff anyway.
AndyRC will try that right now, I'm getting my arris x-speed 250b tomorrow and wanted some training before crashing the real thing, I'm also using the Xbox controller so is very sensitive, have you try doing courses with xbox or ps4 controller? that would be an awesome video. thank you for answering, stealing your drone settings hehe
Passion Agar & Troll comments lol m9 I feel you, my friend and I used xbox controller an took us over 2 hrs to master that one, not even words on the 3rd one lol but 4th and 5th were easier. the next day we completed the training in less than. 5 mins each, so give it a small break and you will improve tremendously.
i couldnt get my flysky with the mic jack and smartpoproplus app to work properly, had to use old xbox360 joypad... not easy but still great fun and does build reflexes for acro mode,.. for anybody like me who's struggling to switch from angle.
Feels a little, I dunno, game-esque more than sim. I do little rates mode/acro flying because I'm just not that great of a pilot (yet) and I definitely cannot do unaided flips yet, but DRL I picked up and immediately began doing all sorts of crazy stuff flips and spins and somersaults with only a partially working TX.
the real test is training someone from scratch on this simulator then giving them a real drone and see if they can perform as well as they could in the sim. i would even buy a cheap transmitter like flysky and using for just a game and practice until i get money for an actual racing quad.
I thought you might like this one, its a very good sim and its free! Its still in beta phase so the quad physics should get better as they reach release candidate stage, so I'm going to enjoy it while its free ;-)
Wao noce it was in 2016 but like u say the water looks so real men hey I'm practicing with another simulator but I'm going to check this one thanks Andy.
As soon as you clicked on the Gates of hell map in leaderboards it messed up where it said FrSky Taranis Joystick in the bottom right, I wonder how they managed to tie those variable together...
i've tried this sim and one thing i hate is that there seems that the motors are very underpowered even when set to 1500g and quad weight to 500g, it seems like a battle to keep it off the ground.
I am using my Xbox controller and it works. Just be sure to go through the set up process. The splash screen shows the word "Xbox" letting you know it recognizes it but you still have to set up for best performance. DRL has a video that takes you through the set up process.
you was correct when you said the graphics are intense my macbook pro early 2011 i5 pro couldn't even run it dammn ill have to see if I can run it on my windows machine tommorw
Hi, I have Devo-7 transmitter and it need dongle to connect to the PC to run the DRL Sim. I look at the dongle link at banggood, it has 4 switch to select: 1. XTR G2 FM 2. G5-G7 Above 3. VRC 4. PhoenixRC which one should be selected for DRL?
Hi Andy, would this flight sim work with a FrSky Taranis Q X7, and if so what type of cable/dongle would one need to connect it with to the PC ? Great video :)
Gonna try this out now. You sound like you do a lot of drone stuff, how closely can this emulate real drones? I've been thinking about spending a good bit for a good racing drone and I'm hoping this simulator will help me determine if I'm good or not.
I can't get the sim to install on my laptop it gives an error saying there should be a data folder next to the executable or something to that effect. Do u have any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong? Please help me. I need to practice before I destroy my new quad. Thanks.
I am new to drones and having a lot of trouble with even basic flight or hovering, etc. I am using an Xbox controller and am definitely not in control. I can't tell if its lousy coordination, the learning curve, or the Xbox controller. Do you all think there would be better control with a "regular" flight controller? If yes, is there one that you would recommend? If I could just get the basics down I would finally buy a set up.Thanks,Richard
Thanks for the response. I appreciate your taking the time.Silly me, I saw a DRL video that showed how to set up a controller. Somehow I missed that because when I saw the "xbox" on the simulator splash screen I thought it was already set up. Going through the set up process made a big improvement, enough so that I am confident enough to now invest in a controller but one that I can use later for 5.8g drone. I might as well learn on the one I am going to use.
yeah i got it working, i actually have the rebranded eachine version which uses a locked menu but you can bypass it really easily, just a bit of a hassle thats all. highly recommend using this to learn acro and get used to the quad not self-levelling.
Andy, I've never flown in rate /acro mode. In freestyle are these the exact controls as if I was really flying in rate mode? Like I is down and down is up?
Going to use this to teach myself Acro mode, would putting in the settings you have at 21:30 in the video be a good place to start for a learning tool ?
Do you experience computer crashes while playing? I'm a noob pilot and I'm wondering if it is so hard to fly in tunnels because of the stock settings or my beginner skills. Do you have some kind of drone settings that will help me? Thanks
This is better than LiftOff coz you can fly really far & wide. And it's FREE. LiftOff feels somewhat claustrophobic in comparison. And that techno music became quite unbearable.
Very cool sim! Too bad my brand new DX6E doesn't have a wired trainer port! Grrr... Anyone know of a Spektrum wireless PC adapter? Haven't been able to find one, myself. And my Turnigy 9X apparently has atrocious trainer output to SmartPropoPlus with its inputs bouncing around like Mexican jumping beans for its correct input type. Standard PPM works and is smooth, but has about a 25% control offset that can't be fixed and feels like it's doing bizarre things to the inputs. :(
I fly multirotors, but the drone type are new to me. Stock settings in my Taranis just seem to tight, like my throws are so close to center stick. Can anyone share a beginner intermediate set of settings for the Sim, but also comment on the Taranis. Do you simply leave all the settings at 100% travel and no expo, or what, and just depend on the Sim.
anything that outputs a usb game controller is supported or if it plugs into a usb dongle listed in the description then its also supported under the "other" option cheers
Can i use any kind of transmiters to play this , i mean i have rc toy transmiters like syma x5c or jjrc x1 , can i use their transmiters to play this ?
by the way is it just me that the game keeps on crashing on races, particularly when 'crashing' into something, mostly at high speeds when you get to see the quad from 3rd person view. but then its not all the time..
I've been fiddling around, changed resolution to what my monitor actually is (used to run it lower), turned vsync on, these are the only 2 changed and surprisingly it seems to be running fine ever since :o
I tend to have trouble with the taranis when using a mini usb cable that is too long or the cable is really thin. Try connecting via a short cable first and swapping to a longer one once windows is recognizing it properly.
Andy iv download this and iv not used my flysky i6 transmitter for simulator yet iv got the usb simulator cable for it how do I setup the transmitter for simulator do you have a video for setting this up or a link where to find out Andy and thanks again
just need to set up your aux channels to the switches instead of the dials and you should be good to go. I think the floureon 250 vid i did showed this
dangit. cant get this to work correctly. Detects my Tx and seems to be working fine... besides the fact that when I start flying it acts as if I push the reset button every two seconds. Take off and immediately resets me. tried deleting Tx profile and doing it again with no reset button set. Didnt help. Still resets me constantly. I have no idea why. But it is unplayable
I finally got it to work. Thanks!! Any tips on how to get better? Tutorial is boring and repetitive. but I just cant seem to fly well enough for the races. Maybe my settings arent quite right.
What settings do you use for your controller pitch rorll yaw. I tried this simmulator but i couldnt get any accurate settings so I gave up on it and went to fpv event pe which was pretty accurate.
I cant get any settings on my devo 10 on this as nearly as accurate as fpv event pe. I guess if you dont have any of the controllers listed then good luck finding the right settings
