Is 100€ a good deal on this? Planning to invest in a drone and goggles in the future, just want to get used to it in sim. Or am i better of buying a i6 ?

At this point, I would not get any FrSky radios. The company has done things that are very bad for its customers. I have an i6, and it will get you by, but the gimbals are very poor quality and I can really feel a lot of lag in the simulator so I would highly recommend against it. The best budget radio that I know of right now is the Jumper T12 Pro and it has very good gimbals as well as the capability to transmit almost any protocol from FrSky to FlySky to countless others. If you can afford it, and it should cost less than a QX7, I would highly recommend getting the T12 Pro. Look up some youtube videos about it: it is very impressive.

Ian Beaty thanks for your fast reply, just searched for the Jumper, although it isnt really in stores on short term in The Netherlands. Would you recommend any other controllers?

Some side info; I know how to fly the normal drones (dji’s/evo’s and such). So a controller that can control 5” inch drones is nessesairy

Thank you so much! I have the X9D+ and while setting up a model for the first time in the clunky, unintuitive radio interface I thought, "There's got to be some way to do this on the PC." And there is! The OpenTX Companion app. It's SO much easier and of course it's available at the OpenTX website. Thanks again for the video.

I want to get into this hobby and obviously I need to practice first with a simulator before buying an actual FPV drone. Does the FrSky Taranis X9 Lite work with DRL app? If it does I don't need to use batteries right, just the cable attach to the computer? The new X9 Lite is the cheapest controller I can find online. Sorry totally newbie here. Thanks for your help.

not actually sure if i will get in to flying drones, i got drl sim to test if I even have any aptitude for it would it still be worth getting a proper controller? else i was looking at just getting a ps4 controller...

Hey brother, I have a small query, I am using q7 for flying in DRL and it has a 2S lipo 7.4V as it’s power cell. When I connect to my laptop the lipo is getting charged from the USB port. I can see the battery level increasing before and after 5 mins of sim flight. It was 4.09 and 4.11v and around 90% after 5 mins it’s around 4.14 and 4.16 at around 93% Any idea how to solve this?

Oke... So everything works. But I dont have ''down throttle'' only up? Is this normal in DRL or is somehting not working properly? (as i see it in calibration everything works as it should)

Well my Tranis won't connect to my computer at all, I made sure to set up a sim profile on it and plugged it into my computer then choose joystick (HID) and my computer made a sound but it said no Hardware connection on DRL😡😓 I need help

Anything under $90 typically does not have as good quality and generally it is worth spending a little more to get the quality. I have set up a FlySky FS-i6 on the DRL simulator and sometimes you can find those for $40 - $50, but then you also have to buy a $10 simulator cable, and the gimbals are not very good. The worst part is that the latency is quite bad, to the point that I have a hard time controlling the drone during a race. I did find a simulator-only transmitter, FlySky FS-SM600 that costs $30, but I do not know for sure if it works with DRL and I do not know its quality. The BetaFPV LiteRadio 2 and NewBeeDrone Beemote Controller are about $40 and say they can work with simulators, but I have no experience with them. I would look more into one of those last two as a cheap alternative.

do you need a battery to plug to the remote in order to run the simulator?

For most controllers, yes, you will need to have a battery and turn it on. I have a controller from the Real Flight simulator called the Interlink Plus that is designed to be used only with a computer and does not need power, but I am not aware of others that can do that. You can always try using it with power and without power and see if it worked the same way without power.

Can you connect the T1D gamesir controller to DRL simulator

I have not used that controller so I do not know for sure, but after some research it looks like that it probably does not work with the DRL simulator. Most any controller that can connect to and be recognized by a computer as a game controller should work in the DRL simulator, but I cannot find any information saying that the T1D can connect to a computer.

On that transmitter and all the others I have tried the USB for the computer does not charge the transmitter. If a USB can charge a transmitter, it is usually a different USB port. For example, my TX16S has a USB port on the top for connecting to a computer for file transfers or simulators and a USB port on the bottom for charging.

I wish I could. I had a basic FS-i6 for a little while that somebody gave me, but I gave it away a while back to a relative who moved to another state. I did a quick youtube search and I saw some other videos about setting up an FS-i6 up for a simulator.

Roll back the driver from devices and printers. Right click on your taranis.

@@IanBeaty Np. Glad I could help. Your video helped me out a lot in calibrating my QX7 TX. Are you leaving all of the values in Mixer @ 100? Other videos suggest bringing the weight down to 50. When I leave it at 100, I barely blip the throttle and the quad flies up high. I'm not sure why it does that. I have to mess with the throttle max/min and mid a lot to get it to a level where I can fly around, especially indoor maps. I still can't fly nearly as fast as you are in this video. Any further tips on settings, namely around what you have your mixer set to and what you have throttle set to in game would be great. Thanks

You have significantly more control with a true radio control transmitter of some sort. The gimbals are higher quality and more precise. Using a real transmitter also gives you better practice for flying in real life.
