Yes it can be a problem near boat ramps etc. where boats come in close and run across your line. If you keep your line tight and point the rod tip down into the sand you can usually escape disaster. It is best to avoid high traffic areas especially on weekends when it is busiest.

@@paulsfishingsystems Thanks for the info, very much appreciated! Just another silly question ... I'm trying to get my head around Auckland Council's rules. Their website says Hatfield's beach is an off-lease dog walking area at all times during winter, does that mean we technically can't fly there during winter?

We use 50lb spectra braid and set six hooks per cast.

On this rig we use 50lb breaking strain braid.

@@ZioBem75 La linea bianca da 700 metri sul mulinello da pesca è una treccia di spettri da 50 kg. La parte di pesca con le tracce e gli ami da pesca è la linea di nylon, si chiama la sezione dell'amo. È un palangaro a 6 ganci con tracce correnti. Il palangaro è in nylon con deformazione di rottura da 65 kg con tracce di corsa per deformazione da 22 kg per i ganci. E che misura di ami usa? Grazie The 700 metre white line on the fishing reel is 50lbs breaking strain spectra braid. The fishing part with the traces and fish hooks is nylon line, it is called the hook section. It is a 6 hook longline with running traces. The longline is 65kg breaking strain nylon with 22 kg breaking strain running traces for the hooks.
