This months video is a little different, I flew my DJI Mavic Pro the entire route from the A14/A428 junction at Girton (near Cambridge) to the new A1/A14 junction at Brampton showing the entire route of the new road.
This video took about 7 days to film due to wind rain and snow and required the help of a small army of spotters to ensure we kept the drone in visual contact at all times, so thanks to everyone who got involved.

Jonathan Tracey maybe you do but have you ever thought about selling your footage to the highways for their promotional videos?

I just do this for the fun, it gets me out the house and I love seeing the progress. No plans to make it a money maker hence the reason I don’t even put adverts on the videos

Great video as always! Would you consider doing one of the Cambridge North Bypass stretch? I'm very curious to see what's going on next to the road - below eyeline - with all the bridge and earth works!

I will try but time is a little short for me right now so I have to fit it around other commitments

And also the bit in the West at Ellington with the new junction etc. Please.

The Bridge to Nowhere is an accommodation bridge for a landowner. It was cheaper to build the bridge than buy him out.

yep i was told a condition of the farmer selling his land, a lot easier than a protracted court battle

Eagerly awaiting the next update - any eta? And also eager to see the Cambridge Northern bypass. The new M11 to Huntingdon Road slip road is now open and would be good to see from the air

Excellent video thank you. Is it possible when you next do it, to follow all the way through to the end of the works at the western end beyond the old Brampton Hut roundabout?
@JonathanTracey
@JonathanTracey 5 лет назад
I don’t know the area well, but looking at google maps there does not seem to be obvious publicly accessible access to fly from, if you have any ideas I’m open to looking at it

This again shows that the Romans got it right - not need to have wasted millions on the Girton interchange - just dualled Ermine street from the 428 junction to the new road. Yes there would have needed to be flying junctions at both ends plus some over bridges, but the whole of the A14 section between Girton and where the new road strikes off West could have been left untouched
@JonathanTracey
@JonathanTracey 4 года назад
I think the A14 needed “touched” it was well past its fit for purpose date

ah it would only be a mild speeding fine, you could do it on a clear road in in that time at about 80mph

Great video, showing how much engineering work has been completed. As a matter of interest did you shoot entire video from publicly accessed land?
@JonathanTracey
@JonathanTracey 5 лет назад
yes with the exception of one part where I have a farmers permission to cross his land to get close to the site

I like your videos but......... There are a few fundamental rules that all drone operators are required to follow in the UK, such as keeping your drone in sight at all times, and never flying it above 400ft. It is also forbidden to fly a drone over a congested area or within 150ft of a person, vehicle or building not under your control.
