I'm on a journey to generate my own power, this channel is about all things electric, solar, batteries, energy efficiency and so much more. I will share my journey, the highs and lows, the mistakes I made so you can hopefully avoid them. So if that sounds like something your interested in, glad to have you along for the ride.
Thanks for recently subscribing to my channel. You are sharing some good stuff over here on your channel! Fair play for taking responsibility for the undersized inverter, but your installer really should have done better advising on this, especially considering you had opted for 20kWh of battery storage!
The way I built my array it could be a fence, vids available off grid playlist, new mount design next month, but for a fence, posts are best. Vertical south facing bi facial with snow gives me the highest #'s of the year. Northern 50th par. I have a 8370w total, 2790w x3, 465wx6. One panel 465w #s, heavy rain dark cloud 76w, overcast 105w.overcast snow 160w, summer no white rock and clear sky 300w x 16hrs np burning 24kw on ac alone, winter solstice sun and snow 569w, based off pv2 x3 10.5kw from a 8.4kw array. Max power when I need it most and more than enough even though pv is reduced without snow, more sun less cloud longer days. For my current max #s is 1 panel x18, next month x 27 Numbers next winter will be much higher in overcast, adding a panel to 2 strings and a 4th 3.3kw array. Panels never get snow covered over 40 snowfalls; I cleaned a few bird bombs once in the past year. I can produce these #s from sun hitting the backside of the panel, mounted on a wall is not beneficial. So far a really good set up for heavy winter overcast areas. After upgrading the low in heavy rain over 2kw total, overcast 2.8kw, 6 hours of daylight overcast should be 17kw, consuming 14.6kw a day electric heat and everything.
would love to try some bi facial panels but my neighbours would probably complain :-) My posts are concrete to can easily take the weight, I am looking to see if I can find some with channels in the center to route cables
@@JonathanTracey you could mount the bi facials horizontal if needed, but only 93" for 600w less than 8ft fence. Save time with 1400mm cables. 1300mm can be a bit short with some micro devices. The new 3.3kw array with wire, fuses and wood $2000 cad.
Point of interest @7:36 - The road crossing here was at one time designated the A14, which ran from Royston, through Caxton Gibbet, Papworth Everard & Godmanchester, where it joined briefly with the A604 passing through Huntingdon, before branching at Hinchingbrooke to meet the A1 at Alconbury Hill. The A604 section from Kettering to Cambridge became the present day A14 some time during the 1980s I believe.
Thank you for illustrating the subtract / intersect / exclude functions so well! And of course, how to save so it can be used as a file for FCP. Thanks!
Nice footage but Fen Drayton nature reserve is owned by the RSPB and I’m sure you would have needed their permission to fly a drone over their property - and unlikely that they would have agreed it given that the drone will upset the birds and wildlife. In future please fly drones responsibly 🙄
Hi Geoff Thanks for the comment, actually the drone was flown in full compliance with the CAA drone regulations. You do not need permission to overfly someones property, unless there is a specific no fly restriction. If upsetting birds was a reason to close airspace in the UK, nothing would be allowed to fly. When I flew from inside the reserve I actually did it with a warden stood next to me as they wanted to see the footage, so long as your not aggravating birds then there is no problems flying there.
@@JonathanTracey the work around idea I came so far, is to create a multi action button "next" that will go both to the next slide on keynote and the next "place" in mmhmm (with the correct camera position") , yet they I don't have the correct preview, so the importanting of the slides might work better. I wonder if OBS would give me more options here...
Idiots? Nah, they're not dumb. They know that if they keep everything proprietary, they can maximize their profits. If anything, they're greedy, sleezy, anti consumer, tech tyrants who'll do anything to get more of your hard earned money. Regardless of the results.
Did you ever have any issues with stress on the motors etc with the 360 attached? I have flown my Mavic before n she was fine, I have made a new rod so the Samsung 360 2017 is farther away from the mavic, but I have also made it so the drone can swivel and isn't fixed ;) as sods law goes, I am ready to try it out and the weather turns bad LOL
No nothing I could point to, still flying on the same motors 3 years later. So long as it’s centred on the body and your not doing really tight turns you should be fine
Hi Jonathan, thanks for your really helpful advice. Can you please explain how you defined a shortcut for opacity or size at 100 or 50 percent? The mmhmm built in shortcuts only have increasing or decreasing by 20% and I can't figure out how to configure it. Thanks!
@@JonathanTracey Thanks for the response - where do I find the keynote shortcuts for those defaults? The only defaults I see are increase or decrease by 20%
@@JonathanTracey Sorry of course, I meant mmhmm - where can I find the shortcuts? Apologies if I'm asking a silly question...The only options I see for opacity are increase/decrease by 20% (option - up/down arrow) and the same but with command for size. I'd like to define a shortcut for 60% opacity and 100% opacity, and 100% size and 40% size, but I don't know how to do that. Thank you in advance
Over development? Councils cashing in. No thought given to infrastructure just keep building. Brainless Civil Servants with no plan or understanding of the water levels or the repercussions of their ill informed decisions.
To be fair to the "civil servants" they recently turned down development on the land behind moat way for this exact reason, the run off would have increased the flood risk. Having lived here for 20+ years now this is quite a common occurrence, the land you see flooded is flood plain, its designed to flood. Local land owners to a fantastic job keeping the drainage clear and the flood barriers in good repair to ensure the water stays back. I saw our local farmer out on boxing day with an excavator clearing water drainage ditches behind moat way.
Not really - this is just winter rain and floodplains. It's flooded for decades and much of it is reclaimed fen so this is in fact the natural state. The original draining is artificial.
yeah would like to see the drainage plan for that, however I see a lot of run off ponds around the area so it looks as if some though has been given to it
Jonathan- I followed your guidance on X-fear from Key Note control to MMhMM and back yet with a modification for my personal set up. 1 Have a Profile for Keynote. And a Profile for mmHmm. So my 2 part Mutlti- Action is: When in mmhmm-- Keyname Cross/Keynote Multi action part one: “Open Keynote Multi action part two: “Switch to my Keynote Profile on Stream Deck” and to return to mmhmm- I created the reverse to return to mmHmm. Not bad thinking for a 70 year old man! Laughs! Cheers from Virginia in the USA
I bought a 12 key Stream Deck- after watching Jonathan’s video I thought of about a dozen more reasons to move to the XL- so my son is inheriting the 12 key Stream Deck! Thank you Jonathan for a no BS thoughtful and intelligent presentation..
