This is the November update of 2019 for Drones over the A14 project focusing on the new junction being built at Swavesey that is being constructed as part of the #A14C2H project
Each month I fly my DJI Mavic Pro over the A14 construction sites to show the progress made in this massive project on the outskirts of Cambridge. This allows those who live nearby or who are interested to get a birds-eye perspective of the massive works. #a14c2h #dronesoverswavesey

I'm so glad I'm not in my office in Buckingway Business Park, it used to back onto the A14, there was a row of trees and an embankment between me and the road, now there is nothing. There used to be a "Bates Motel" before the old petrol station on the A604, it was boarded up, but easy to get into. Then there was The Trinity Foot pub just before the Swavesey junction and further up the road, a 1970s detached house in ruins. I used to go walking around the area at lunchtimes on sunny days, the travellers moved into the house and converted it into ruins and a vast trash heap of old fridges, wrecked cars and worn out tyres. The slaves from the car wash lived in pub, hot-wiring the electricity and living in total squalor, I watched them going back and forth. On the plus side, there was a lovely wooded area on the westbound side of the A14 at the services in Swavesey and I watched in sadness as the whole area turned into The Somme over a couple of weeks. I suspect, the only person who will benefit from this work is John Major :P

yeah its hard to get a perspective from the ground, just cones and mud but from the air you really get a feel its close to being finished

this ought to be upgraded to motorway...perhaps an M11 extension, M14 or A14(M)

that was the plan but i believe it was shelved to allow the completed parts to open early

There has been rumours to extend the M11 to where the M180, A180 and A15 meet South of Hull. If only the M11 would of extend to Newmarket, Thetford and Norwich. Instead the A11 from M11 to Norwich is fully dual carriageway and meets with the A14 near Newmarket.

AND you think that shot was all in line of sight? From the set off point ,it was well away from what I could see with bare eyes .

i love the way keyboard warriors on youtube jump to conclusions without any evidence. just because the video starts somewhere does not mean that’s where i was, infact i was in the centre of the clip, 450m in each direction, in sight the whole way. maybe you should be a little less accusatory in your posts when you dont have the facts

Not good flying over the exit slip on the A14 junction 25 also it is clearly visible you are flying over vehicles on the slip road too be intresting to see what the CAA say about this video. I fly drones to bloody large petrol aircraft and this is the kind of video is damaging to the hobby well done muppet.

Nowhere in the CAA drone code does it forbid or even mention flying over roads is not allowed, although you cannot see it I timed the crossing between cars so that should I lose power it would not come down near the road, that said when has detail ever been of interest when accusing people of things on youtube. I do try to avoid flying across the A14 unless its closed at the time as that is what I would consider a congested area (per the drone code) but small roads with low volumes of traffic are fine according to my reading of the rules and the three times I have spoken to the CAA to confirm. If you're looking for "damaging to the hobby" in your self appointed role as the "drone police" there are plenty of others with clear transgressions but maybe you just felt it appropriate to shout at me to make yourself seem the bigger man with your petrol aircraft, anyway have a great day yours Fozzie Bear
