OMG the sound of this is terrible tho ... wow. The bass is causing compression dips and muffling out the clarity of the video... This is pretty bad. ... I request a re-do.
@@AndrewRooneyDrums ...Ya..I see those too. Amazing. There is a recent Instagram groove he posted... WOW... take a look at that. Also.. the sound - compression when the bass drum hits.. How are you monitoring your sound playback?
What a beast of a drummer…I’ve got to watch this again, and again, and again….. Thanks for making US hip to this, bro 🔥🙏🔥 -and such a funny intro to this vid 🤣
When you made the face at 1:57 😂 We know you're in for a treat lol I'm a guitarist by hobby. But def considering myself a fan of Luke because of The Word Alive (since 'Empire'), which he became part of for a good while. Jason x Luke are just unfathomable. Fan of both! 🔥🔥 Never would have thought this level of creativity was possible. I get it when you're lost for words, Andrew. 😂😂 Please do more!
Kudos for doing this one so quick Andrew! So the stick on stick requires the stick to go across the centre of the snare completely elevated off the skin by the rim. Quickly Whip the stick your holding hitting the stick on the snare as central as you can and this should send it airborne. Edit: the stick needs to make contact below the shoulder; maximum girth (that's what she said) the stick your hitting with needs to get out of the way as quick as possible otherwise the horizontal stick will rebound when bouncing of the snare
Yet another new talent that you and your community have exposed to me. This guy is a monster! The secret to me about this guy is that he uses empty space and rests to emphasize the overall dramatic qualities of the composition. It’s not music that I would listen to on the regular, but as an example of fantastic chops it’s amazing.
Luke is amazing - think he broke onto the RU-vid scene at age 17. My husband reached out to him through Cameo and he made me the nicest video message for my birthday. Epic!
@@AndrewRooneyDrums He does! As one of my other favorite reactors would say "The drummer looks like he's 12 years old. This is a super youthful band" haha. Thanks for your content. I don't think y'all get told enough how much you brighten our day with the videos you put out so THANK YOU. - Mary Elizabeth
Hello from New England....Im officially a Luke fan....This stuff Is beyond talent, this is otherworldly....I thought Mario Duplantier was in the upper most echelon of players...and he is..but Luke my God man!! I'm going to check out some of ur other Luke vids and dig into what he does...Once again Andrew you've turned me on to a drummer that probably would've fallen thru the cracks for me..Peace...1
Idk why, but when the main beat first kicked in, I was dying laughing. It sounded like he was playing really badly. Haha. Of course, I'm just an idiot. 😂 But it was like expecting greatness and then "ba-da-doo-dum-da-do CRASH" Finally sub'd by the way.
Andrew, there's some compressor, noise reduction or some other filter that's changing Luke's video sound. Your can hear the background instruments changing volume all over the place, and that's on your end. Please look into it, should be a simple fix. Your content deserves it 👍
@@AndrewRooneyDrums I did, as I did with my previous comment on Eloy's video (the problem was not his app btw). Compare your video with the originals and you'll hear the difference. Cymbals "choke" the hits, guitars dampen when some drum pieces are hit etc.
@@AndrewRooneyDrums I don't know what software you use, but Vegas Pro for instance adds compression, noise gate and EQ automatically on every new track you make, you must disable them by hand. Maybe something similar is happening here
The fact that all 3 are on one track is absolutely mind blowing! For the new generation of progressive and creative music these 3 are TOP TIER!! I love that there is an isolated video of Luke playing the drums. However, you need to check out the actual video!
I love his cover of The Reign of Kindo's "Till We Make Our Ascent". It's from a number of years ago, but it's much more my style of music than the piece he played here (which I enjoyed nonetheless). I still go back and listen to that RoK cover just for musical enjoyment.
Luke holland is really good, however you want cleaner and more technical I strongly suggest you check out Thomas Lang modern drummer festival 2020 if you haven't already.
@@AndrewRooneyDrums I actually just watching one of your reactions on him we speak! That modern drummer video is a 18 min solo. Also he has a new drum solo video that's 30 min long absolute beast!
Luke Holland is really talented on the Drums love his playing a lot. you should react to 66Samus (Samus Paulcelli) he's a funny drummer really great for extreme metal drumming I recommend influential drummers 1,2, and 3 its really awesome.
The Rus were Viking tribes that settled in Kiev as far back as 750 AD, 400 years before Moskva existed. The name Russia, coming from the city Moskva, has no connection to the RUS. Moskva were Finnish Urgic Tribes; Mosk means cow and Va water, which are Finnish names. There is no RUS there. The ethnic background of Moskva is Finnish-Urgic and Mongolian. The Rus developed the religion, city Kiev, alphabet, and had its saints. The founder was a Viking named Askold or Oskold (Norse) from Sweden; not Oleg as in the Russian story. Oskold, the first king was in Kiev before Oleg in Novgorod. Oskold was baptized in Constantinople and sent the first bishop back to Kiev. Oskold and Dir were the first Dynasty of Kievian Rus. Askold rules from the 40-60s and Dir to the 80s. Askold is buried in Kiev and the first Kievian Christian King & Dynasty. Oleg followed coming from Sweden through Novgorod. But Russia as named today started in the city of Moskva over 400 years later after Kievian Rus or Rus. From Kiev, the capitol of Rus, Kievian culture was spread, much like the Greeks Hellenized the known world, or like the British anglicized the world by the English language. This process does not make Moskva to become RUS in as much as Persian are not Greek. How we are misled by a name; Russia. The capitol of the RUS has always been Kiev. There is no other RUS and no RUS in Moskva. Many say Ukraine began recently; but the culture of the RUS is Kievian RUS, both culture and ethnic background. Ukraine is a name given by Poland meaning outer lands. The land of the RUS before the Mongolian invasion was very large. The name RUS is a Norse name which means men that row; there are no men that row in Moskva. So Moskva adopted the name Russia while being a Mongolian vassal, essentially traitor to the RUS; and all the Czars were Mongolian-Finnish. The Culture of the Mongolian was centralized power, and that cultural imprint was passed on to present day Russia. Ukraine’s real name should be Kievian RUS, or Kievskarus! Putin & Lavrov should be ashamed of themselves, the USSR was an occupation; it never had the status of a sovereign state and due process of law that would be associated with a free society. Even today the mentality of the gulag exists. As such, it did not deserve to exist; and history has shown such totalitarian organizations fail over time and author in many gulags. The true culture of Russia is Finno-Ugric and Mongolian, having nothing to do with the RUS (Kievian), expect borrowed as in the sense of Hellenized or Anglicized "forms" as a comparative reference. The centralized form of Russian politics is a very Mongolian imprint on culture. The actions of Putin seem to be another Mongolian invasion of Kiev; here I suggest as to the correct metaphor. I believe so. Putin & Lavrov insistence to have purview over eastern Europe also seems like paying tribute to the Mongolian Horde. Moskva started as an agglomeration of Finnish tribes, combining a Finnish name meaning cows water and developed by Mongolian culture. Mosk means cow and Va means water. The RUS are men that row, Vikings, Norse, established Kiev 400 years before (750 AD) Moskva even thought to exist. The name Russia for current nation is totally inappropriate. The current Russia started in Moskva; how misleading is the name Russia coming from Moskva that has no connection to the RUS. All the lands should be returned to Kiev; the West of Russia to Finland, and the East to Mongolia. Russia’s place on the globe appears as a temporary aberration in my view. To use threats of Nukes publicly strikes at the heart as adolescent behaviour; surely any nation or person that issues such threats and being an ally to such while not even having war imposed on them is not fit to rule. This would include allies of Russia. Oh yes, I remember, Russia didn't invent the bomb, they stole it in the 1940's and gave it to Kurchatov
I thought I was the only one hearing that. Super annoying and kinda ruins the excellent performance. Just checked the original - that sounds clean. Something must have gone wrong on this video.
Dude, I'm not a patreon member, and for that I can only apologise, but I am a big fan of your channel. I'll send you some Jaffa Cakes in the mail. That said, I emplore you to do a reaction of this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H4JH7WbqcAA.html It's the master recording of Dave Grohl playing drums to his own composition known as Play, where he composed and played all of the instruments and parts. It's a little lengthy but not outrageously - at least 2 coffees long depending on how much of an addict you are. I don't think you'll get bored watching this though. He plays on 3 different kits, and switches between them seamlessly and in real-time as he is recording the drum track. It's a pure and complete insight into the evolution of Dave Grohl's drumming, and I think you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't check it out. Especially if you're a huge Dave Grohl fan.
Ever since I saw Grego Borlai commented so humbly to your reaction, my expectations of the others is getting very higher. Especially with this poor performance! Kids these days..
Luke Holland is great, no doubt but this kind of drumming is let's just say not my style. I'm sure it was composed for the drums but there's so much stuff going on here, its like a technical showcase not a song. If it was called "drum solo" and not playthrough I have a feeling no one would question it, its all over the place. And I'm not getting the musicality you are, but then I'm not at your level as a musician. Don't get upset ppl this is my opinion not a fact written in stone.
Massively disagreed. What you think is a technical showcase IS the song. It's the next evolution of what songs are. It is so much more musical and tasteful than nearly anything else anyone is doing. I couldn't disagree with someone any more than this. This track screams musical creativity and expression and feeling and you're completely missing out.
@@derpderpin1568 Hey that was really respectful, I really appreciate it. Maybe this one just went over my head, I'm not sure. Its not a difference in musical tastes, I love technical music, this just seems disjoined to me. And I watched it again, I still maintain my position but this is a shining example of how to respectfully disagree. Many thanks 👊
Anyone that doesn't think this is just slapping with musicality and feel and expression is listening with closed ears on purpose. I can't stand the 'he's playing too many notes so it has no feel' drummers out there. You guys ruin drumming.
I've never said anything negative about any drummers featured on your channel . This guy has more talent in one finger than I will ever have . I'm really sorry but I'm not getting any "feel" . Hes got ,Speed , technical ability, amazing dexterity , fills chops and on and on . But I can't hear the " soul" . I guess this music is about things other than feel . Really sorry to be picky bearing in mind he's a billion times better in every department than me . I guess I just don't understand this level of drumming . Peace and love brother 👍🏻☮❤
No one needs to apologize for their taste. I'm with you and have heard far fewer notes that have moved me far more. As you say, that doesn't change anything about Luke's outstanding technique and playing style. 👍😎 Have a good day everyone!
@@katsumotoamaya6540 Thank you, I really didn' t want to comment but I always write to support Andrew's channel . The young man is obviously fantastic . Peace and love brother 👍🏻☮❤
@@AndrewRooneyDrums Thank you Andrew I'm glad it came across ok . I would never want to demean another musician . Even if I don't like a genre or artist I will always respect their work . 👍🏻☮❤
Weird. There's nothing but feel and passion and creativity and expression in his playing. It is like feel turned up to 1000. Makes other drummers seem like they have none at all.
As Michael said. I can't stay up till 2am as I'm already struck down with covid. Can't put trailers or comment on a scheduled post. But thanks for the tips!
