That undeniable Pat Torpey snare 'crack'. You know it is him when you hear it. It's sad he is gone. But damn, we were blessed to have witnessed such a phenomenal drummer in this lifetime. RIP Pat. Your music lives on and in our hearts, you will be.

Pat was a fantastic drummer and a super humble and approachable guy. He didn't consider himself a technical drummer, but obviously he had great chops and skill and his execution is flawless. Mr Big was an a band of virtuosos who unfortunately had most of their recognition linked to radio friendly tunes that did not showcase their musical skills, The loss of Pat so young was very sad.

Well put together drum solo. Pat was extremely talented and unfortunately underrated. Love watching him play. Gone too soon. Great analogy of the solo.

Pat Torpey once said that he played the drums just so he could look cool to his future grandchildren. He wants his grandchildren to tell stories about how cool their grandpa was. Sigh... We miss you, Pat!

That was fun to watch and listen to. He did more than just cram in as many notes as possible in a given period. Cool, interesting grooves and I really like the Latin flavor on one section. Good selection to analyze, Garey.

Nobody can compare with Pat Torpey. That video. Incredible control and technique and so exciting and musical. I'm doubtful if any of the greats that we hear about all the time could surpass that. World class stuff.

hi teacher, i am the one who in your video, told you that it was gene krupa who played on the double bass strings, and this made me jump because for me krupa is the basic, but it may happen that one forgets it, but not a drum master.Instead then I followed you in your '' reactions video '' and in your works and I engaged a great respect for you as a musician and as a man, very nice your video on pat torpey.

Pat Torpey was an incredible musician and absolutely gorgeous. I was born too late (1987). If I was at least 10 years older, I would have had posters of of this man plastered all over my walls. Hope you're resting peacefully Pat X X

He had such a tight and smooth groove. Fun and adventurous fills. Incredible soloing. I LOVED his drum sound on the Lean Into It CD. If I had to guess, it was Tama Artstar II with Remo Clear Ambassadors. Just so crisp...

I'd be very curious to get your take on some modern drummers who may be out of your wheelhouse genre-wise. Some really talented guys and would bring some fresh eyes to your channel. You've checked out Matt Garstka (always a great choice) bit try Chris Turner, Blake Richardson, Thomas Pridgen, Like Holland, Thomas Haake.

Hi Garey. Its a shame the views have gone down recently, I was wondering if you could give fans a Christmas bonus? I was thinking that guy from Pantera recently released a new drum solo, which would be popular to comment on. Plus you know Buddy Rich is very popular - how about that duelling drum solo video? Other popular drummers include Dave Grohl, Chad Smith, Peter Criss - or wild cards like Aric Improta. Who is the heaviest drummer of all time? You could host a poll? What is the syncopated style? And why has Gene Kruper got it? All these questions and more ...

To me this is pure genius and a master piece of how to perfectly accentuate a melody using percussion. Rhythm, melody and harmony combined into a melting pot of fusion jazz.
