Drummer Reacts To Kiss - Black Diamond (The Midnight Special) || They Got Better?! 

The very early days when they were playing in clubs, they had a few guys standing around the drum riser and a rope and pulley type of device and during the end of that song these guys would each be pulling these ropes raising, I wouldn't call it 'levitating' lol, the drums which were kinda shaky on the way both up and down since they had no way of knowing what was actually going on so it wasn't synchronized at all. The funniest part was when they approached the very low ceiling, it was a small club in a hotel remember, called a club because it had tables, chairs and of course alcohol, LoL, Pete would have to duck down lower and lower while still performing or trying to, LoL 😆 Hadda Live that!!! "Guys... GUYS!!! HEYYY!!! Not the only time they had a malfunction though, Gene would have a harness hooked to his costume that when pulled would lift him up into the lights and deposit him on a platform where he would sing God of Thunder... Hopefully, LoL. One night the cable tangled in the winch device like they sometimes do and stopped 3/4 of the way up. He motioned down, then DOWN!!! So they started to lower it but it again hung up about 6' lower most definitely NOT a happy Demon. Close ups showed the look of intense fear in his face. Eventually, they did get him all the way up and on the platform though. I don't think he HAS to take the cables back down. If so, nor after that night I'd bet. Check RU-vid for the clip. It's on there. Nobody misses anything these days.

You should do ‘I still love you’ KISS MTV unplugged the music is awesome but Paul is the standout in this performance. His voice is jaw dropping in it.

The drum kit was brand new. Bill Aucion mentioned it in an interview. Money was still tight at this point and nobody was amused that Peter destroyed his drum kit.

saw them in 75. as a 15 year old i was blown away. yes people take cheap shots now, [those who were not there usually] but in 1975 they were something else!

@@dubkjayboth wear colorful costumes…both play music…both were ostracized by critics…both were against drugs and alcohol (for the most part). Both are practically bedfellows, but I won’t mention them in the same sentence.

​@@setonhillstudios Dude for sure! Their early stuff is SO heavy so killer. You asked at one point..THEY ALL SING!!? Yes, they do. The original intention of the group was to be like the Beatles. All four members sing, all for members write songs. But, it took years before they could get ACE to sing haha. But, he did write some one of their best songs early on...PARASITE! Check out the Live version from (live in San Francisco 1975) it's a hell of a rocker, it's from the Album Hotter than Hell. In a nutshell this is what happened with them. They put out three initial studio albums. Kiss, Hotter Than Hell, Dressed to Kill...but they did not sell very well. They were not recorded very well, but ppl were flocking to their shows! So, as a last ditch effort they decided to do a hail mary and did a LIVE album, recorded in Detroit! I am from Detroit, I was not old enough to go, I was 12 but many of my friends older brothers and sisters went to the show! The album BLEW up! they became the BIGGEST band in the country after that....then though, their next album they took a completely different direction and hired Bob Ezrin to Produce it. He had done a bunch of Alice Cooper albums. He was great, but he changed their sound and ALL the OG Kiss fans hated it haha...but still a great album, Destroyer. When you get a chance check out some stuff from their 1975 Cobo Hall shows in Detroit, that is the stuff that went onto KISS Alive album. Here is the link for the Winterland show in SF!
