Paul and Linda were together for 29 years until her death from cancer. He was often criticized for writing silly love songs, so he wrote "Silly Love Songs" as a response. Every love song he wrote was for Linda.

Back in 1980 Paul was busted fro bringing pot into Japan, a small bag of personal smoke. He spent several days in jail while facing potentially a multi-year prison sentence, and from what I understand it was the first time he slept alone without Linda since the day they were married. RIP Mrs. McCartney.

@@fightman49 He wrote that basically as a diss response song to Lennon insulting him saying something like All Paul does is 'silly little love songs'. It hurt Paul because, no, we all know Paul's writing credits, but he decided to turn it into a positive (with a little F U) and made an incredibly successful song that many people love.

His wife, Linda, was the person who helped him through The Beatles' breakup. It was very rough for Paul, they'd all gone through something that most humans will never experience, and he and John had been friends since they were young. When John started lashing out at Paul in the press, it was heartbreaking. Paul didn't know what was going to happen with his life but Linda kept him grounded, loved etc. She was a very down to earth person who kept him from falling apart & he found his direction, with her as his partner, for 3 decades.

This tribute makes me think of how he lost his mother, Mary, when he was a young teen. He had a longing that I think Linda soothed him with. We have always been close and now that they’re all grown up and in their 20’s and 30’s, we’re as close as ever. Every moment you spend with your family is so valuable, and never wasted. And don’t worry, we can all get better and that’s the beauty of it. We learn through our mistakes and become better people for it. And being a Beatles fan is a great way to start! 😅

They went to their farm which if you don't know McCartney is a huge environmentalist and loves nothing more than being outside riding his horses maybe not at 82 now but that was him and Linda's life with their family. Wonderful father. She brought him back. They started wings a year or two later. And the rest is history

That said that Paul's masterpiece after the Beatles' split was his second album, Ram, George's was All Things Must Pass, and John's was Plastic Ono Band. Solo songs from John's you should hit are Working Class Hero. It's the gritty version of Imagine. God or Mother - so raw and full of pain for one, and something unexpected even for John on the other but him being at peace with his life post-Beatles. Jealous Guy, Love are both gorgeous. John's diss track in reply to Paul's: How Do You Sleep? is incredible. Gimme Some Truth is along the same vein but not aimed at Paul. There's a start for you for John. :) For George, Beware of Darkness, Awaiting on You All, What is Life - anything from ATMP, essentially.

Gorgeous song from a gorgeous album. Glad you chose the album track and not a live version. I was 10 when this came out, and this album got as much play in our house as any of the Beatles albums. I was also in love with the photos on the album jacket, most of which make up the video here. Linda was a photographer and published several books of photos, worth checking out!

This is such a great song and if you wonder whether he can pull it off live, there is a great live performance online with Wings that is quite impressive. Good thoughts on things at the end. For something really upbeat by him, check out his huge hit Jet with his band Wings.

Wow Lee, you’re really going through some growing pains right now. You have a great attitude and a thirst for improvement, that’s great! But don’t be too hard on yourself. Don’t beat yourself up. The past is past. Quietly put your head down and continue to do the work and watch how your people respond way positively toward you! Just keep growing.

There was actually a brilliant live version of this, I personally prefer the studio version, but the live version is incredible to watch. Some lennon song that I have always been a fan of are "watching the wheels" and "(just like) starting over" both from his double fantasy album, 1980.

Got this album when it was released, and not only was it a good one it was cool to find out that McCartney played all the instruments on it.

This is the original studio recording of what I think is his very best song in an incredible catalogue. He played most if not all of the instruments, IIRC. Opposite of “Silly Love Songs.” He dredged this up out of his guts in addition to showing off crazy talent both in terms of songwriting and musical versatility. Tremendous piece of art.

I would call Monkberry Moon Delight or pretty much anything from Ram the opposite of silly love songs! This one sounds a lot like his Beatles' fare to me. Loved when he got creative with his second album, and then Band on the Run and some others.

Paul's Wings, Venus and Mars album was supported with the Wings Over America tour. One of the singles off the album, Letting Go, is a great song to 'remind yourself' of something a little different that Paul can create.

Hi Lee, one nice hidden easter egg is around 3:50 (in your video) when you can hear Paul & Linda's infant daughter Mary gurgling on the floor of the studio where she was playing as Paul recorded. He was at a real low in his life at this point post-Beatles, prey to drink and depression. Linda rescued him and the song celebrates that. Magic moment with the organ punching in at 4:12, never fails to make my hair stand up... It's hard to recommend highlights from McCartney's solo cannon, it's so vast and varied (in a way he's a victim of his own creative fertility - hard to pigeon-hole). Grabbing a triple-album's worth almost at random from my favs, here's a suggested playlist that ought to make anybody think twice who has ever said he was done after the Beatles: Distractions House of Wax Here Today Beautiful Night Dance Till We're High Little Lamb Dragonfly Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five Riding To Vanity Fair Hope of Deliverance Back On My Feet Mr Bellamy Dear Boy Waterfalls I'm Carrying No More Lonely Nights The Note You Never Wrote You Gave Me the Answer Jenny Wren Mull of Kintyre Kicked Around No More Letting Go We All Stand Together Little Willow Somedays The Pound is Sinking Live And Let Die Why So Blue? Mrs Vanderbilt Wanderlust The World Tonight Summer of '59 Tug Of War
