Love how Paul simply lets us know what he's going through after the Beatles breakup and how much Linda did for his musical recovery. He put this together all on his own, playing all the instruments himself, first of 3 albums in this real solo style. Linda did some backing vocals. This was the album of his finding his own identity, before moving forward into Wings. He learned his vocal 'screaming' from Little Richard, who taught him how to do it to protect his vocal chords.

Linda's parents lived in East Hampton NY where I grew up. Paul and Linda were there quite a bit. My sister worked in the Caldor music dept. Paul and Linda walked in. He asked if they sold guitars. He wanted to play happy birthday for Linda's father. By the way, she was listening to the Stones and he said to her " you really like these guys?" Linda said "I really like them too"

From the first of three albums where McCartney plays all the instruments himself ( McCartney (1970), McCartney II (1980) and McCartney III (2020)). However, No Reply, on the 65 album launched many top musicians to take up the guitar or Rock. Chris Hillman of Byrds said that was the song, as did others.

McCartney never named “I Can See For miles” as the song. He said that he’d read in a magazine that Pete Townsend said that The Who were recording “the loudest, dirtiest song ever” and he thought about doing that himself, as a challenge,. Only retrospectively did people try to work out which song was current for The Who and it happened to be “I Can See For Miles” but obviously that song, as released, is not particularly heavy let alone the loudest, dirtiest ever so no one actually knows which song it was or whether The Who even recorded such a song at that time

I recently saw one of the more bizarre public events that I have encountered. I encourage everybody to follow up. Apparently, the original Nutbush City by Ike and Tina has become the unofficial national anthem of Australia. Everybody who has grown up there since that song knows it by heart. Why? Because there is a dance that came from it. It is a line dance, learned by preschoolers, that is very, very good exercise. I was a good amateur athlete and would have needed a personal trainer for several months to do this dance/aerobic exercise.

George Harrison wrote one of the greatest love songs ever to his then wife, Patty Boyd. That song - "Something." Paul McCartney wrote this love song to his biggest love, his wife Linda. Differences between the styles of the two songs is that George sang his song with an easy vocal, sensual, like he's laying in bed next to her singing the song. Paul, on the other hand, sang his song with pure, ramped up passion. When he sang his song, you KNOW he meant every word he sang. Both songs are great. The talent that was all four members of the Beatles will never be equaled.
@dyanapomp
@dyanapomp 3 года назад
Main difference to me is that Paul wrote his song from the heart, with true feelings and passion behind the lyrics. George wrote the song for no one, he said he just wanted to create a love song (after lying and telling Pattie it was for her) and he needed help from his bandmates for the lyrics, so yeah. Also, I'm gonna leave this quote here: "I could never think of words for it. And also because there was a James Taylor song called ‘Something In The Way She Moves’ which is the first line of that(...)"
@Spaced92
@Spaced92 2 года назад
@@dyanapomp Something is more similar to Yesterday for that reason, it's a highly polished love song even if written with the help of others (I don't think it's a knock that John helped him a lot, he had the core of the song down), but Maybe I'm Amazed is mature enough to put more genuine emotion into it, a genuine screamer.

"Maybe I`m Amazed" was originally going to be on the Beatle`s "Let It Be" Album but Paul hung onto it knowing the Beatles were going to break up & released on this - his first solo album. He plays, sings, engineered and produced the entire album by himself. Linda helps out on some of the vocal harmonies. A really great tune he did was "Live & Let Die". A tune he wrote for the James Bond film. The production on "Live & Let Die" is one of the best ever heard. Also one of the best live performances of a song I was lucky enough to have heard. Great having you guys around.

I’m glad you reacted to the studio version first! Paul McCartney played all of the instruments in the studio version. By the time the epic live version came out on “Wings Over America,” guitarist Jimmy McCulloch had joined Wings, and he absolutely killed it on his Gibson SG. Same kind of guitar played by George Harrison (and later Peter Ham of Badfinger, who Harrison gifted his SG to). Jimmy McCulloch was in another band with Pete Townshend called Thunderclap Newman. They released an amazing song called “Something in the Air” that you should definitely hear. As far as George Harrison goes, his song “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)” is exactly what the world needs right now. 💟☮️

This can stand alongside anything he did with The Beatles. One of the greatest recorded vocal performances of all time. The production was very deliberate, but still has that sort of in the basement by myself feel. He always got tagged as the "cute" Beatle who degenerated into soft pop later on (somewhat justifiably) but when he felt like rocking out, he really could. This is also one of those songs that 40 different artists could cover, and all have interesting takes on. Faces with Rod Stewart did a great live version...

I'll recommend George Harrison's song "Apple Scruffs" from the "All things must pass" album. Incidentally, "All things must pass" from 1970 was a TRIPLE album that came in an actual box. Double albums were not unheard of back then, but triple albums were usually reserved for Anthologies and "boxed sets" for people who had very lengthy careers. Naturally, as a triple album it was quite expensive. Many fans complained that it should have been a double album, and that there wasn't enough good content to justify it being a triple.

These are real raw feelings Paul is giving us. He's a man so in love with his wife Linda McCartney, she helped him transition after the Beatles broke up. When Paul McCartney & Wings formed, Paul insisted Linda be involved in all of his music projects so they would never be apart when the band was on tour. She was a photographer, musician, song writer and beautiful soul. She passed away from cancer. There's another song to check out, "My Love". Another beauty for has wife and true love Linda. Also " Let Me Roll It", "Venus and Mars Rockshow" which was the intro song on tour. Happy Friday friends, stay safe!
