Elvis is still love by local people. This was at the Polynesian Cultural Center on the North Shore of O’ahu. I worked there as a college student at Brigham Young University- Hawaii. Drums of the Islands was originally titled “Bula Maleya”.
My dad was an elvis fan this was one of his favourite songs I love all the memories off all the elvis movies we watched together and thankful for all the Elvis records he shared with me.. They are both gone but live on.. Sweet memories ❤❤❤

What A Great Presentation . * Of Hawaii , Thank You Elvis And The People Of The Hawaiian Islands . * Beautiful Tropical Paradise . * When Life Was Fun * And Exciting . * Pure And Simple . *
They are all the different people and culture of the Pacific Islands .. Hawaii Fiji Samoa Rarotonga Tonga Aotearoa just to name a few but it's great to see Elvis perform and relax and enjoy himself in this movie 🌴☀️🤙
Just beautiful I've always loved this song since I was a little girl, proud Polynesian here, Kia Orana! 🌺 Kia Ora from Aotearoa New Zealand! ☺️✌️ Rest in heavenly love and peace Elvis 🕊️
We will never grow tired of his movies, videos, and any of his acting singing and concert material. Love every bit of it. Always ready to sit and see it anytime. Love my Elvis. Never grow old or tired of his music or of his one of a kind God given talent and miraculous voice.
When my late hubby was in the Aussie Army he went to Hawaii on the air craft carrier that kept on crashing into other ships. A photo was taken of him and 2 other Army blokes at the spot that Elvis sang some of his songs in Blue Hawaii. I need to have it recoloured but it will always be a fantastic reminder of a fantastic Aussie soldier.
I have listened to Elvis from when I was about the age of 11 years old his voice when he sings his songs is outstanding and so mellow there is no artist today will ever match him I listen to him every day I am 65 years old and he will always be my favorite singer
I love this movie Blue Hawaii with Elvis my favorite favorite star...he has left us with so many beautiful and endearing memories he is always in my heart and he will never be forgotten...love you love you Elvis Guyana South America
Dave Wiseman4 years ago No matter how many times I have heard this in the 40 years I have been an Elvis fan, I am 46 now, I still love this so much. Elvis the king forever. I am 50 years old now in 2016 and I still love this.
Dave Wiseman it is truly beautiful. I went to the Polynesian Cultural Center in 1992 and watched the show which reduced time to tears, it was absolutely stunning. I thought of this scene and Elvis as I was sat there overwhelmed by at it.
Nobody could sing a song the way Elvis did it. I know a lady who cries every time she thinks about Elvis. SOme times I would start to sing like him and it would bring tears to her eyes.
Most. And he wasn't "awesome" there, he went out of his way to make sure he was considered a friend, even family -- not a celebrity. Many of my friends who were there used to talk about his visits whenever he was on O'ahu -- they would be busy, turn around and there he was, and often in the support areas, carrying trays for the lu'au or lending a hand to do minor chores.
Elvis Presley was and still is so so Gifted in every ways 😘😘👍👍👌👌💞💞, the Movies especially Blue Hawaii and all the ither Songs was so appropriate for that moments and others too on Stages Concerts. RIP Elvis Presley. We love you lots lots and you still makes Us and the Global World Happy especially this Century. ☦️🛐🙏🏻🤲👍❤️🔥❤️🔥🌟🌟😘😘😘😘
This must be the most visual impacting film that Elvis ever made, the colour, scenery and extras together with the songs make this about the best film he ever made with GI blues running a close second. You look at all those beautiful young people in the film have now grown old and even those children will now be in their sixties. When you think about it this film was made over 60 yrs ago.
It actually still looks like this the last time I saw The Polynesian Center. I grew up in Oahu as a child and loved visiting this with Friends and Family.
I was there a few years ago,the tree that bends across with the bridge that the girls are sttting is still there and i have a picture off....one off the shows they do,they sing this song to..
Ja geweldig song van me lieve Elvis ik hou ook na zoveel jaren van hem en draait zijn platen en cds en zijn films vind ik geweldig wat steeds bekijk keer op keer I love you Elvis my dareling yolanda uit Limburg bedankt ervoor
What a wonderful moment ,Its so real ,blessed to watch this as I never can be there. Lovelyest thing is ,Now only I know ,He never left a place untouch , gone around every where ,enjoyed the best of life ,giving genorously to the world same pleasure. Or mo than he enjoyed life. Fully dedicated life from start to the end . So his name written every where in every heart never to forget or 4gotten. As a sweet melody .May gd bl his soul while we all painfully n lovingly reminding him. Appriciation from Sri Lanka. Thank U , U r a best medicine for all sickness ,anger ,frustation, lonelyness ,broken heart so n so .
I hummed this song to google..because I didn't know the words...and it led me here...I watched this movie with my grandmother years and more years ago...I always remembered the melody...but didn't know the words..evern tried search for the scene..using words...couldn't find it...Google is a trip...just hummed the melody...and found it..crazy
This is one of my favorite Elvis movie. The Polynesian dancers are all looking fit, probably because they haven't discovered uncle mac, pizza hut, burger king yet.
Most of them were students at what was then called Church College of Hawaii (now Brigham Young University Hawaii). They came from all over Polynesia and the Pacific, and worked at the Polynesian Cultural Center 20 hours each week to "pay" for their scholarships. There are some long-time Hawaiian icons, as well, but mostly just students, doing for the movie what they did for visitors all the time.
