I worked with Brown and Root Construction back in 1973 after graduating from college with an Art Education Degree. I have always been an outside person and loved watching and learning construction..I worked on the board crew ,we laid roads and platforms for the rigs to set up on. I was the second woman in the Oil Field at that time..I loved it . The guys were good to me..but, I did not take advantage and EVER say ,,'oh I can't do that...' I said all of that to say I never saw anything like this..I enjoyed it and watched parts of it over and over..thanks and many blessing to you guys. lov from south alabama.

The "dream workshop build" is my favorite search on RU-vid... but yours doesn't come up... at least not on the first few pages - probably because you don't have that phrase "dream workshop build"... or whatever. I enjoyed your house build... but I'm going to especially like THIS build. Ever since Andrew Camaratta built his Shipping Container Castle, I've been intrigued with what people can do with those shipping containers... Pacific Pines Ranch is another one... just in case you need some inspiration/encouragement... to see how nice they can come out.

I love watching concrete work being done. Last Feb we had our 30 year old driveway, sidewalk and patio replaced with all new concrete. It is very expensive but totally worth the results. Our last home we put in an entire driveway using the crusher run like you used around your slab. If you rent a plate compactor you can get it nice and flat and lock it all in to be just like concrete. The only bad part is weeds will grow up through it.

The only one I can now think of is how many yards of concrete did the pad use! Hum,🤔 I was trying to imagine you two out there doing the pour by yourself. All i saw were you two standing there just staring at the spot. Jim is scratching his head and comes up with that huge number of bags of concrete. He tells Lydia. Then she starts staring at him. That's when he decides I'd better just call the concrete company. I'm so glad you went that route. It turned out great Ladly must have approved of the way it turned out. I think she must have walked over every inch of that slab.just smiling away 😊 It was so cute seeing her end the video. Every time i see one of those rebar grids it reminds me of going to my grandparents when i was little. They had those old type mattresses with the metal springs inside that squeaked every time you moved. You couldn't sneak out of bed if you wanted to 😊 Excited about the next phase. As always wishing you the best .

Your wire looks so thin, way smaller than what we use here. We call it a pump truck Jim 😅😂 Definitely an epic concert pour, how many cubic metres? It’s Lydia big new play area? 😊 or Gus’s new dog house? 😂 Can’t wait until the workshop builds start. I assume the dirt doc will use a digger to shift the crates? Until the next video ❤😊

Hey there Robin! Our reinforcement wire was a little thin but it was woven from Hercules’ chin whiskers😂🤣 It took a little over 51 yards of concrete in total. We have kind of a cool idea to move the containers… but we have to build it first😁

that is a HUGH slab! how many yard did it take? and yeah you are right, some trades and jobs are so worth the cost to hire out. for us building our house it was sheet rock and roofing. Ya'll doing good but it is definitely a job for younger folks. I was in my 40's when we did our current house. in my 70's now. FL granma

It was definitely worth getting the slab done by a team of pros; as you said, it's a question of time, money, available supplies and wear & tear on your bodies; sometime it's just more cost-effective all around to pay someone else to do it!

Interesting pour. I would have expected thicker edges with at least 2 courses of #4 rebar. My 24x32 monolithic shop slab in the Phoenix area required a 12" x12" "footer" in native soil with 3 #4 rebar on all the edges in addition to the 4" slab depth. My contractor went 5" in the slab with 6" #10 wire mesh and 3500# mix. There is a 4'x14' part to install A 2 post lift that's 8" thick.. How do you plan on supporting the weight of your welded pipe trusses? Thanks for sharing! You are such hard workers!

Good job explaining about cost difference between dry and wet pour. Definitely saved your backs and some bucks, For small projects like most of our here do l really appreciate you teaching us dry pour, concrete trucks have some sort of minimum charge. Both methods definitely have their place. Ladly has great shoveling skills. You guys have really come a long way since you had that early morning concrete pour for your house.

Hi Lydia and Jim. The slab looks great! It's so exciting to see it there, it's like a blank canvas to an artist; gets my juices flowing. I"ve forgotten the dimensions of the slab. How many yards did it require? That crew of 8 were really humping and did a nice job to keep up with it all, they did an excellent job. It was the best money you spent on that part of it. Bringing in the crushed roct (granite?) aggregate was a good idea, will be very effective for errosion control of the dirt around the slab perimeter. I loved watching Ladly with all of her activites out there, such a cutie. I admire how you both always come across as being to calm and collected about things; I'd have been a nervous wreck with the wind and rain happening when the pour was starting. I'm wound a little tighter than you two it seems 😉 Have a safe and productive week ahead. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.

That's a lot of concrete. What are the dimensions of the slab, I forgot. I had to go back and watch Ladly once again helping you strip the forms and getting on the shovel before it broke on her 😉 She is just so darn cute! Y'all have a great week. Larry.
