1:56 Dandruff is over production of fungus already present on scalp. Melesazia ovelus. Causes acceleration of formation on new skin cells. Does not give old skin cells time to naturally flake away. Large clumps of cells form. This mixes with sebum on scalp. The oilier the scalp the worse the condition can be. 3:11 Seboreic dermatitis, or psoriasis Seborric can cause yellow clumps and cause hair shedding. 4:27 Don’t grease scalp want it to produce enough sebum on its own. Once every two weeks almond or jojoba oil. Castor oil could clog pores create dependency 5:14 Tea tree oil 5:54 Few drops of tea tree oil in shampoo and wash your hair with it.

She hits the spot about hydration. After drinking about at least 3 liters of steam distilled water for over half year, my dandruff slowly dissapeared. Also washing my hair with it helped making it keep softer and make it shinier. Avoid hard water. Distilled is the way to go.

I used ginger with extra Virgin olive 🫒 oil on my scalp after 2 -3 uses my scalp is 90% better and my hair grew back , you can also mix ginger with tree tree oil or Witch hazel to help with the itching. And it’s easy just blend to make a paste and apply then wash off , i left it on for a hour.

(5/5) That combined with the high amount of dust and lint it attracts will create the illusion of thickener hair. I don’t see a problem with using castor oil on just your hair strands on occasions, especially if you want to add shine and a light hold for a particular style. But, I do suggest using some of your gut feeling and some common sense when it comes to putting it on your scalp, especially if your scalp is already functioning normally.

(3/5)Castor oil is like a soft glue that sticks to your skin & hair a lot more firmly then other natural oils. Its sticky & does not move easily so it quickly attracts lint & dust easily from the environment, which substantially increases the rate of build-up on your scalp.I know theres a theory in the natural hair community, that consistently rubbing castor oil on your scalp will make your grow thicker hair & will stimulate re-growth.The results u see online could be a bit misleading for 2 reasons

Wow, that sounds like a headache to go through. Yes, use only a Pure Tea Tree Oil (not mixed w/ anything else) and make sure to use it every time you wash your hair. Unlike dandruff, dermatitis is cause by something within your body the surfaces on your skin. So the tea tree oil may not completely cure you but it sure will sooth a lot of your discomfort.

(4/5) First the act of messaging you scalp (even with plain ole water) can simulate re-growth of hair (there have been many animal studies done to show this). And secondly the increased thickness of hair can very well be an illusion. Due to its chemical composition stated earlier, castor oil firmly sticks to your hair strands (stronger than other natural oils).

When trying to hydrate, adding 1/8 of a teaspoon of baking soda to a bottle of water makes it alkaline. Also eating juicy fruits & vegetables is also very helpful in hydration. Bottled water & tap water can actually cause me to feel more dehydrated... I add more baking soda than that, but I used to it. My proof is when I took a ph test and the test shocked my health care provider because I was almost an 8 which is perfectly alkaline, I was a 7... How to treat seborrheic dermatitis: 1) Decrease the number of bad bacteria in the gut by stop consuming sugar and flour products (cookies, biscuits, pasta, etc.), especially in the first month. The most important step in my opinion. 2) In order to kill the bad bacteria, you can also start consuming apple cider vinegar (1 table spoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water 2-4 times a week in the morning) or/and drink nettle tea (like the common tea) 1-3 times a week in the morning. An also helpful formula is a glass of water, apple cider vinegar 10-20%, 1/2 tsp of ginger powder, 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp of garlic powder, 1/2 tsp of onion powder, 1/2 tsp of clove powder & 1/2 tsp of cayenne pepper powder. Use this formula in the morning. Garlic and caprylic acid (before the main meal) can also help you. 3) Increase the number of good bacteria in the gut by consuming fermented foods (sauerkraut, kefir, miso, etc.) or/and by using probiotic supplements in the morning (prefer the liquid ones). Before buying any probiotic supplement check the quality first labdoor.com/rankings/probiotics 4) Fix the ratio between omega 6 and omega 3 in your body (you should make a blood test, you want the ratio to be about 4:1, the average person has too many omega 6, the average ratio is about 10:1!). Omega 3s are very important in our diet and they affect our brain health and vision (mostly) and our mood and skin condition as well, so you must consume food rich in omega 3s regularly (chia seeds, flaxseeds, walnuts, seaweeds, etc.). You can also use omega 3s supplements (DHA+EPA mostly, prefer the plant-based ones and not the ones from fish oils). You not only need to increase omega 3s, but you also should stop consuming food rich in omega 6 (junk food, fried food, peanut butter, sunflower oil, etc.). 5) Get enough sun. Many researches have shown that vitamin D3 plays a very important role in dermatitis and other skin issues that you might have. Get your face, hands and legs 10-20 minutes, 2-4 times per week in the sun. If you live in a city where there is no so much sunlight, use a supplement (our body needs about 4000 IU/week). I am not a doctor, but I've treated my seborrheic dermatitis (which I had for many years), I've talked with many doctors, read many articles, read books, etc. Believe me if you follow the above 5 steps, you'll see a big difference in your dermatitis (you’ll notice a change within the first week) and you'll have a better health in general. You don’t have to be rich to follow the above 5 principles, more or less, everyone can apply them. If you have dermatitis try them out, what do you have to lose? If you want to improve your health, I've written a short book that can help you www.amazon.com/Medicines-Better-Life-Dennis-Gjika-ebook/dp/B08539J4WK/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=gjika&qid=1618941111&sr=8-3 Thank you for your time and wish you a good and healthy life!

Hi, first of all I want to say you are my favorite hair-centered youtuber, you explain so well and in simple terms, and I love the focus on natural ingredient and remedies. Secondly I want to say I am not part of your primary audience which is black women with type 4 hair, I'm Italian with type 2 hair, but since my problem is about scalp I hope I can still ask you... I have a tendency to dry skin. This winter in my house we mostly used wood in the fireplace to heat our house to save money. I also have to use a dehumidifyer a lot in my room because it's so damp that if I don't mold grows in there (I live near a river). When we burn wood the air gets really hot and dry around the fireplace, and since right now I'm staying at home most of the time that's where I am (it's too cold for me to stay in other rooms regularly). I have experienced snowfall-like dry dandruff twice this winter which I never had experienced before, and right now I'm not quite back to normal yet, I still have a bit of flaking. I also experience dry skin on my nose a lot. I definitely know it's dry dandruff. I also have to say that I have been ditching regular supermarket shampoo and tried to be more diy with my hair since August. My hair (type 2, naturally high porosity, dense, medium strands?) has gotten much better, I couldn't even discern there was a curl pattern in there before, it was just always poofy and dehydrated like Einstein hair(I guess I would be a 'vata' in the Ayurvedic hair department?). But I wonder if I have been disregulating my scalp ph. I have been using yogurt/fenugreek masks and conditioning rinses with sage leaf, fenugreek, aloe, and some apple cider vinegar, oiling my head as pre-poo, and sometimes I 'shampoo' my hair only with egg yolks and chickpea flour, which I leave on my head for 30 mins to be really sure it works (5 min pose time doesn't work for me; otherwise, it's excellent). These things have all been beneficial to my hair, which definitely likes less alkalinity being that it's porous on its own, but maybe they were too acidic for my scalp?? I will definitely start using ph measuring strips from now on. I was also instructed to use a medicated shampoo for dandruff but since mine is dry dandruff, I wonder if it's actually too harsh and further strips my scalp of moisture. What do you think I should do to ensure my scalp is well hydrated and doesn't flake anymore? I know this may be a minor issue, but it's really annoying for me... Thank you again for your channel, and congratulations on your beautiful baby 😀

TRY THIS: My Family Fixed SEVERLY ITCHY SCALP ISSUES - Naturally: 1. Wash your hair with Sulfur 8 shampoo, using a silicone scalp massager. 2. Let it dry naturally. Be sure to blot the excess water with a brand new towel or one that you have never used on your hair / body before. 3. That night, SMOTHER your entire head with Vaseline - wrap it in a scarf and sleep that way. Why? The easiest, most 'natural' way to kill the yeast / candida and anything else that is living on your scalp which is what is probably happening - in a matter of minutes - is to simply smother it - NO OXYGEN means no ability to breathe, thrive, grow or survive. 4. The next morning, mix bentonite clay, apple cider vinegar and tea tree oil (whatever ration you want...it really does not matter) into a bowl (do not use a metal spoon when mixing clay - use plastic or wood only). SMOTHER your scalp with the clay, let it dry then just sit under the shower and let it rinse off until the water runs clear. You may need to do this a few times to get all of the Vaseline off of your scalp and hair - but you'll see that you've just 'killed' the yeast when not one hair follicle itches. Repeat weekly, or as often as you need to and be sure to hot wash with white vinegar and baking soda all of the bedding, towels, clothing and anything else that it may be living on. (fyi never mix bleach and vinegar). We tried this - and it literally solved the problem overnight. If there is a new issue we just repeat the process. Good luck everyone, and God Bless!

This sounds like you should talk to a dermatologist. I only got the dryness, flakes and itchiness on my scalp and body. My brother mentioned greasiness. A recent fix I used is getting a shower filter. That changed a lot for me. Now I just need to repair the dryness damage. If you have hard water, a shower filter could help you too, but a professional would still be advisable especially if this doesn't work.

I wanted to come on here and just share a tip for people that need it and have struggled with waxiness and hair loss because I tried so many different $$ shampoos, treatments, and this is the only one that actually worked for me. I got this tip from my hairdresser whose son actually suffers from this as well. Basically- she suggested using a mixture of a good tea tree shampoo (Paul Mitchell or something equivalent) and in a bowl or small bottle- putting one part hydrogen peroxide and mixing or shaking the two together well... Then diluting the rest of the mixture with equal parts water. Massage it into your scalp for a minute or two, then leave it on there for another few minutes, and wash it out completely in the shower. You don't want to use TOO much hydrogen peroxide because this can be irritating to the scalp, so I just use my normal amount of shampoo and do a small pour of hydrogen peroxide (maybe a couple of tablespoons), and fill the rest of my small bottle with water. It should be pretty foamy when youre applying it if youve mixed it well enough. This has literally SAVED my scalp. And you can find hydrogen peroxide at pretty much all major stores and it's very cheap (like $1-2 for a good sized bottle will last you months or a year). My scalp has never been cleaner, and the waxiness has gone away completely- but depending on the severity, it might take a few treatments before its fully gone. I would also recommend following it on with a good conditioner or leave in treatment, just because it can be a bit drying. But I hope this helps someone. I know how stressful hair loss is and I couldn't find this specific tip on RU-vid, so I wanted to share it :) Happy washing!

I believe so! I haven't been to the dermatologist in awhile, but I definitely struggled with dandruff, itchy scalp, and greasy/waxy sections because my scalp produces more oil than normal. Something that started in my early twenties.. I don't remember dealing w/ this when I was younger. But I've been managing it since I changed my hair care routine- I'll have flare-ups occasionally, but it's much better than it was!

So, small tiny flakes would be dry scalp and dandruff would be bigger flakes? I thought I had dry scalp until I saw this video which makes me think I have dandruff. I was being lazy and hadn't washed my hair in a month and I noticed my hair was really itchy and flaky. I washed it with shampoo and conditioner only to find bigger flakes two days later after doing my hair with curlformers. I noticed a strange smell from my scalp and a sweat like feel to it while the curlformers were in my hair (I slept with them in my hair), it still smells a bit dirty now. I'm really confused. I know you aren't a doctor and this is TMI, but your videos are really helpful. What do you recommend (if you can make a recommendation)?

I had thick straight hair (oily scalp) which I was complimented for. As I moved to a different place where water was really bad I had minor hairfall, long story short something I regret to this day, one of my relative gave me an oil and said to leave it all night and wash it the next morning. I did it for 1 month and things went south, my scalp was reacted to it and I had this white creamy thing after I bath and as it dries it was not that visible, also scalp became an oil factory 😅😭(excess sebum production). I tried lot homemade stuffs and shaved my head, went to doctors and they gave me treatment for sebhorric dermatisis. After trying lot of thier shampoos and stuffs for years I have lost my thickness and lost the hairline shape I had (forehead) also it has reduced from how it was over the past 4 years but its still their and scalps excess oily. ITS BEEN 4 YEARS, RIGHT NOW WHEN I SEE THIS VIDEO IAM HAVING DOUBTS WHETHER MY CONDITION WAS AN EXCESS CASE OF DANDRUFF ALSO USING OIL LIKE COCONUT, CASTOR, WORSENED MY CONDITION.
