Day 3! Just spending a couple of hours finishing the repair. Hopefully I can find some suitable stone to finish the top course! #drystonewall #stonework #landscaping
@@J.HarveyStonework i want to build my first wall. It wil be with stones with a more round form. Do you have a video on it or can you plz give me some advice. Im have a steel structure that i want to close up with stone. Ons side i have large windows. My english isnt good i speak afrikaans. Im from South Afrika
Don’t think I have a video using that shape of stone doing cladding, but think I’ve done a few free standing walls using rounder stone. It would be the same as normal cladding, but you would just have to take more care fitting them together.
From a report in local newspaper - 'Whilst out walking early on Friday morning, an elderly couple were surprised to see a grown man apparently sorting through discarded stones from an ancient collapsed wall, and mumbling something to the stones as he did so! The only words they could make out sounded like "Got to blow my nose!" LOL! Another great video Josh, hope you had a quiet weekend this time!
Loved all the detail and explanation on choosing and placing the stone. Before you said it on the video, I said to myself - where do you stop 😂. Great job and hope to see another DSW soon.
That’s it Robert! Sometimes it’s a shame because you want to just keep going! Need to find a job as a in house estate Waller! 🤣 Thank you for watching! 👍
I've spent three videos trying to work out who he sounds like, and in the last few seconds, I've finally figured it out. This guy has to be Al Murray, the Pub Landlord's son! Job's a goodun, innit? haha Also, Nice repair mate.
Basically a big 3 dimensional jigsaw puzzle....and you have to cut the pieces as you go along. 👍 .....and they pay you to work in such beautiful setting, surrounded by wonderful nature. Lucky you.
Just found your videos coz part of my retaining garden stone wall has just collapsed. Hubby and I have spent the last 3 days repairing it, using your advice. We’ve also reinforced it though with cement. Hope we’ve done the right thing! 🥴 Great set of vids! Cheers👍🏻
Thank you very much for watching, I appreciate it! As long as it’s not caked in cement, it will be fine. But always try to keep dry stone dry if you can 👍
I understand that we need to keep loads of trees for all sorts of good reasons, but, you knew there was a but ,that really thick branch coming off that tree has to go for the walls sake surely,🤷♂️
It’s a common thing, because you’ve got to advise the risks but to be fair it’s a roll of the dice. It may be alright for many many years but then it could just last a month if we had a bad storm or if it just snapped off. The customer is the gambler 👍
I did a stone wall for someone I've known for years(it wasnt dry I had to cement it cos it was a bit of a retainer on a massive slope, but it's still standing and no movement 5 years on,)but there was a tree 1 yard away so I took off the lower branches up to 8 ft and they were more than happy with that but you have to ask the question,🤷♂️
