I learn so much from your videos, it makes me confident knowing when I start school I’ll kinda be ahead of the game so to speak. With this trainer shortage idk exactly when I’m going to start school i already have my cdl permit. I wanted to go with prime but the recruiter said classes may not start until may so I’m a little bummed with that, but I’ll continue to learn from you until then! Thanks for all the videos keep up the great work and stay safe on the road guys!

Interesting Kevin. Like I told Tonja a while back, I like information and detail. I follow several trucking vlogs, involving dry vans, reefers, heavy hall, flat bed, tankers, wreckers & recovery tow-trucks, and whatever else comes along. Also, I usually don't comment, but I'm subscribed and faithfully push the thumbs-up "Like" button on your videos. Interesting how one accumulates knowledge and experience over the years as he/she works and lives through his/her profession/career. I'm the 78 year old guy that worked for the large bus company in Los Angeles County for 41 years. I was a mechanic, but spent over half the time on the road towing busses and transferring busses from the divisions to the operators on the road when they had a problem with their bus. So, thanks again, you two.

Great video! Yes, dry van is typically the easiest load because they are usually heavy. Tandem placement would make a great video because there are states like California that only allow you to be in certain holes. I would take dry chalk and put it on the hole that I thought would weigh out the trailer safely. I can tell you that sometimes the trailer didn't want to slide tandems so a little WD40 and putting on the truck break but leaving the trailer break out certainly helps. I look forward to more of your videos!

@@TheJoyofTrucking 2019, only for a few months. I left and went to a competitor because W would not give me any indication how long I would be with a trainer. Heck I hit the road with my trainer and we drove straight to a hotel in Fla were I spent 3 days cause he went in home time🙄. I wasn’t new to driving, have had a Class “A” since 1982, drove emergency vehicles for a career. But I had no OTR experience so I started off as a rookie. Hello Kevin! Fellow Co-worker/Werner driver here. Curious Questions for you Kevin.. 1) what year is your T680? 2) what is your top speed ON CRUISE CONTROL? 3) While on top speed on cruise control, does your speed decrease or are you able to maintain top CC speed when you press and hold your accelerator? Fun fact: the 2021 cascadia I drive for Werner goes to 68 mph on CC but decreases to 65 mph as soon as I touch the accelerator of any vehicle gets in front of my semi haha Maybe see ya on the road sometime, stay safe!
@TheJoyofTrucking
@TheJoyofTrucking 2 года назад
Hey there!!! How are you doing out there? Here are some answers. 1. 2019 2. 68mph 3. If he presses accelerator it maintains top speed while in cruise control. He was in a 2021 Freightliner with his trainer and didn’t like exactly that which you are talking about. The KW doesn’t do that. Yes…hope to see you out there!! Drive safe and have fun!! :-))

Thanks for teaching , I’m curious into becoming a trucker CDL A, is it that easy or fast to get license ?! Seen or heard less than 4 weeks minimum. Currently work health care but want change feel like trucking is where it’s at traveling sights views being alone lol
@TheJoyofTrucking
@TheJoyofTrucking Год назад
Yes! Indeed! 4 weeks at a trucking school and you can test for your CDL. Then you work for a company that takes rookies. First year is a steep learning curve, but our videos should help. If you can make it through the first 6 months lots of options and better and better money. Yes…you get paid to travel. You’ll see and experience a lot!!! And by your second year you can be making 70k plus easily! You start with OTR but then you can do other jobs, like specialized or regional/local etc. Lots of jobs in trucking! You have to like driving, be patient with shenanigans, and ok being alone (though with cell phones and headsets you can spend a long time chatting with people). Good luck! Keep us updated on your decision and your journey!

Try 500+ miles per day, 4000-6000 miles per week? The 500 miles per day is easy for one person. 4000 is also about the weekly possible limit for one person, but that’s extreme and cannot be maintained week to week. And I can guarantee nobody solo at Werner is driving over 3500. Any more than that is team driving.
@truckingwithj7202
@truckingwithj7202 2 года назад
@@jlewis4587 yes, in a perfect day, you could do 700 miles. Do that 6 days and then half day on the 7th could maybe do 4500 for the week. And be completely out of hours and have to shut down for 34.

I've been working for PTL for the last year n a half. And I'm getting a little fed up with telling them I'll be ready tomorrow morning at 8am and here it is 12:30pm and ...nothing. This is not the first time this has happened. It really did not matter to me who I drive for my childhood friend is dating my neighbor and he said PTL was where he worked, that's why I'm here. I never heard of PTL and again, I do not care who I work for. I just wanted to get on and get a couple years under my belt.. and I intended to stick with whatever company I got on with. It didn't matter who I got with, to me. But whoever it was I intended to drive for about 6 or 7 years to build my house,add on game rooms ect. Buy a car and some tools. Then get a regular 9-5 and try to balance my home/work life from there. But Im beginning to realize maybe PTL isn't the best company. They don't pay that crazy great, 800-1200 usually. I've got a couple 13-1500 checks but that's rare. Usually about a 1000 is what I can expect. So I'm pretty annoyed sitting around with my thumb up my butt and I'm to the point I'm looking at other places to work. I'm actually leaning towards Marten. Simply cause 1200 a wk guaranteed sound good. At least I know I will get that. I'm Especially annoyed cause I requested to be home Friday, just to come home for Christmas weekend, say hi to the family and carry my ass. These idiots sent me home Tuesday. So I've been sitting around for 5-freakn-days. I didn't want to come home at ALL. I'm not married No kids..it's just me. Drama free. I don't even have a girlfriend. When I say family I mean my mother,father and two sisters and all their baggage. As much as I love my family sometimes I consider faking my death so I can just be left alone. I'm not even joking man. I do not want to be bothered. Period. I want to drive my truck and be left alone. But anyway... I'm going to move around cause PTL is too slow for my liking. If they're working on something say "hey, we got you a load were working on just hang tight ect" Don't ghost me. Ignoring my messages. Not answering the phone. I'm not speaking to you cause you hurt my feelings.. hoe games. We ain't dating motherfucker. This is work. Communication is kind of important don't ya think? Anyway..yeah I'm about 5seconds away from telling these people to get fucked. Everybody has problems. Nobody wants to hear mine. Actually my thing is..other people ARE my problems If I didn't have to deal with people my life would be smooth sailing. I always do what I say I'm going to do. I'm always where I say I'm going to be. What the next asshole does is anybodys guess. It's like I'm dealing with a drunk driver I have no clue what they're going to do. But my patience only stretches so far. It's real simple. Give me a load, in a timely manner, or get fucked. If something is going on whatever. SPEAK. Open your mouth. This is not rocket science. Anyway..I don't know. I guess the world is fucked anyway I don't know why I bother saying anything. Let it burn.

I drove for 25 yrs and to see someone make a you tube video about what a dry van is, wow, we flatbed drivers call dry vans, lazy man trailers, why your at it explain that some dry Van's has barn doors and some has roll up doors, and don't forget shipping containers, they have the same principle except they go on chassis and come off to go on trains, you must be new on you tube
