Hi, thank you very much for this video!!! I am a single almost 70 year old retired woman with little household repair experience. My money is flying out the door as fast as it comes in. I watched your video which helped me see I could repair the dryer and how. I took everything apart pulled the bad switch out and took it to a parts store. He was out of the cheaper one like the old one I pulled out. I gave him the model number of my dryer and he pulled up a part they did have in stock. It was 15.99 (still not much) but worth every penny to get it fixed right then. I didn't want to order on Amazon not knowing if it was the correct part. I was very happy to find that it worked!!! I did have to pay close attention to your video to get how to do a few things but eventually I got it! Please keep making these videos. You never know what might tear up next! 10 thumbs up!!
Thank your for this great visual. I do want to say that my dryer is a Maytag and is about 14 years old. I did not need to take out the bolts in the back. These "newer" ones just lift up once you pry the top front open, so you don't need to do anything to the back. I did remove the screws on the filter and the ones holding the switch piece in. I did not have to remove the little black plug as it was just attached to the colored wires that stayed in place. The hardest part was disconnecting the old switch piece from its counterpart and poked myself pretty bad with the screwdriver. That was the hardest part! The new piece snapped in easily. Saved $160 on an appliance call or a $60 handyman call. Either way, I saved. The part was only $8. And it didn't take long. Thanks again!
Do you happen to have a video about a whirlpool dryer making a horrible noise when it’s running??? It gets louder the more clothes I put in!!! I loved watching this video… you are my go to appliance repair person now!! I shared the video with my adult son! When you talked about not cleaning the lint trap & not being able to get the quick connect clip apart (“my ass”) 😂😂😂 he was laughing as much as I did!!! we have been putting up with the dryer not shutting off when we open the door for quite a while but now that I need to do additional repairs on the dryer -- I’ll be fixing the switch as well for only $6.99 on Amazon!
@@ApartmentMaintenancePro I watched a couple videos while waiting for your comment… The drum turns just fine, so I’m hoping it’s not the belt 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 Someone with a whirlpool that was making the same basic noise as ours changed out just the rollers so I bought those (for under $10 rather than buying the whole kit which includes the belt for $20.) Also, it might have helped to tell you that the dryer has been making the noise since Thanksgiving! (a jack of all trades family member passed about that time! Too much stress in my life has kept me from researching it! Of course, if the dryer stopped working -- I would’ve had to turn something sooner). Thankfully that didn’t happen.
i personally don’t see a problem with the dryer running with the door open. you can just advance the timer to the end of the cycle went opening the door or if your only adding a few items of clothing you can open the door and add them while it’s running.
True. But you can't tell a customer and you shouldn't tell a tenant that. The appliance should work as designed and it's our jobs as technicians to do what we can to make that happen. :)
I here you but my was the opposite. My switch on my G.E. came apart just fine. The new one i ortdered on line didnt stay together. Its works but i hit glued it on the outside of the connector. But now my dryer with the new belt replaced, new door switch, everything cleaned inside with a small shop vacuum and a new exhaust vent pipe to the outside. But the darn dryer will not stop running and drying now. I have to manually open the door. Not good. Starting to get frustrated. A chain if events like this i doubt. The dryer switch is a cheap knock off but it shuts the machine down when the door is open and vice versa once the timer is turned on. ANY CLUE PLEASE I LIKE YOUR VIDEO AND SUBSCRIBED 👍
Buddy u don't take off back hinges that is so u can open the top and it swings like a door on hinges would ..go to front pop the lid open by depressing tabs underneath front lip and lift up and brace against wall
Thanx for the very informative vid. I am a Great Gramma and this doesn't look too hard for me. However, my dryer is a Kenmore. Haven't looked for it, yet. BTW, the music is too loud and annoying.🙂
Handyman 101 should be a semseter long 9th grade class in h.s. along with small engine repair next semester. 10th basic wood and tools, window and door repair. 11th masonry and tuckpointing 12th basic roofs and basic plumbing.
Has anyone worked on the dryer before? I would test the continuity of the door switch that you installed and make sure it's opening and closing properly.
@@picklerick_404 agreed they may not be the most energy efficient but they have wayyyy less parts to fail. Love the old whirlpool washers and dryers so much!
