As much ceiling skimming as you guys do you should invest in a large airless sprayer that is powerful enough to spray joint compound. About a $4,500 investment but worth every penny. Saves your arms and shoulders and is about 10 times faster than rolling.
Thanks for the tip on the loop roller sleeve - solves a long standing problem I've had using rollers for skimming, and I've managed to find a source of them all the way over here in New Zealand. :)
People are just awesome. The dude or dudess that came up with these skimming blades deserves a medal. I only bought one of these today. They are great for making walls very level as well. Especially the part of the wall were the skirting board is to be installed. Great tools. Hope they come to Germany soon. I had to order mine on Amazon.
That's awesome man I think it all started in Germany by beroxpert then tapetech made some then level5 and Dewalt jump on board which are made by the same guy and lastly Columbia which in my opinion made them super sturdy by adding the wing nut locks to there pole adapting system.
@@csdrywallhawaii You got that right dude. Friggin awesome. Perhaps they can improve their design by designing removable blades for both mud and cement mortar, and have a one- rod system that can adjust to variable lengths to fit removable blades of the same lengths for dry walls, complete mud walls, or walls for cement mortar. Just saying..
I want to pick up the 32” for a wall job. If I wasn’t going to use the pole so much which brand would u recommend? I’m leaning towards L5 but don’t c anything to special about them considering there the highest priced.
@@csdrywallhawaii sweet brother man, thanks for the quick reply. U just earned urself another sub. I appreciate ur time and everything that u do. Cheers!!!
Your videos convinced me to get the Columbia Tomahawk skim blade set. I’ve been trying to about a week and I can’t seem to get the glass finish like you do. Can you make a video on the type of mud and how to properly mix? I also keep getting bits of bucket plastic in my mud. I truly appreciate it!
I got plastic pieces in my mud too until I filed the edges of my mixer paddle. There was just a tiny nick, but the filing made all the difference in the world
Not familiar with that product but most putty will stick to clean concrete the only thing that happens especially if the compound has more moisture is when it dries there will be a lot of pin holes.
Good job skimming the ceiling. But it is imposible to get the quality of level 5 if you did not get the level 4 before skimming. I can see that ceiling has level 3 it is missing one step. As result butt joints and flats will still be visible when sun rays hits that ceiling.
I do a lot of reno drywall and have been looking at this system for a while. Great video 👍You said you like the 18" best, just curious why. Are the bigger ones just to awkward and heavy? What's the biggest you've tried? Thanks.
Thanks for watching yes like you mentioned the bigger ones feel a bit awkward and catches more lights and obstacles. I guess it really comes down to preference I own all of them but mainly use the 18 and 24. The 48 has been used once.
@@csdrywallhawaii Thanks for the reply! I think I will get the 18" to start then. Been looking at the graco mark v but found out the price today is 8000$ Canadian 😲....i think I'll try your roller first 😁
@@alfredmedina9398 ZINSSER Gardz Problem Surface Sealer. Or just Google "how to fix torn drywall". Can also use oil based paint that's really thin (needs to be absorbed by paper).
I skim holding with 2 hands off stilts . It's better I think and better control of the blade , and faster . I'll trowel out a whole box of mud area , and skim blade from stilts .
@@csdrywallhawaii 3 jobs?? Dude u learn fast, I’ve been at it for years going on and off with various jobs every couple of months when something in my house needs repaired and even then I’m not consistent with skim.
