Let’s talk texture! Depending on your area it can be very popular. It’s also fun to do, you can get really creative! In this video I am using @usgcorp Sheetrock® Brand Plus 3® and Beadex ® Brand Light All Purpose. We will be going over a skip trowel, faux plaster, old world and swirl textures. So grab a knife, a pan, some Sheetrock® Brand Plus 3® and let’s have some fun!

Love this, thank you for the break down of each style cause I was trying to find this type of content for a while, I love the old world textures but no one I have found explained the differences, devil in the details this is where the women have that level of detail to articulate and show the look and how, great content!!!

Ya know that adding a dye to the mud so the viewer can actually see the depth , wouldnt be a bad idea . I understand what your trying to show and demonstrate, but to the other people out there that dont do it for a living , may actually not fully get it . I love your videos! Keep’m comin’!

I’ve tried it a couple times but it doesn’t help much unfortunately. And then people don’t understand why the mud is different color and get confused. We always try to get good lighting but we’re on a job site so we don’t have a ton of control over it unfortunately.

I was surprised to see a drywaller from Bozeman(I'm in Missoula) mentioned on the Festool channel, so I popped to take a look. And subscribed. I started learning to finish in 95, but branched out a couple of years after the "Fall" of 08 and focus more on carpentry these days, although I do the random basement or American Clay job. Nice to "meet" you, and looking forward to browsing your channel.

great videos. i think it would add to the tutorial if adding a little dye to the mud for the sake of being able to visually see the texture. I think this is what I want, but the white mud on white drywall makes it nearly impossible to confirm. i.e. I don't know if I the first or second texture is what I am looking for

How much plus 3 joint compound does it take to do a full skim coat on an 8x4 drywall sheet for a level 5 smooth finish?

Not a lot. Thin the mud to heavy paint consistently(use a drill and whip). Use a roller to apply it to the wall. Then skim it immediately with a wide blade(24"+). If you do a good job skimming there's little sanding/touchup to do. Level 5 makes some nice wide knives but they're pricey Marshall Town are nearly identical and much cheaper.

yep, that would be called smooth wall or a level 4 finish. The joints are finished to smooth with little to no imperfections so when painted you have a smooth flat surface.
