Re-upload since you-tube failed to upload at 4k, original was stuck at 360p. Hopefully this time it works. This is the footage I have of my modding process, The way I did this mod makes it where USB C to C will charge the DSI.
Hardest part is taking the port off, make sure to get all pads as liquid as possible to not pull them off the mobo. Take your time and do not pry hard at all, light pressure is all that is required.
Nope just for c to c you simply have to connect one power pin and one ground. I choose the power pin on the right since it lines up with the board and just bend the left one till it snaps off. Have fun modding!
Yeah the middle two pins have to both have 5.1kohm resistors soldered to ground which is on the left when looking at the port with the dsi open. Same port on dsi and dsi xl
Yeah if you are looking at the motherboard the positive is on the right and goes directly to a fuse the left side is ground shares the same plane as the mounting pins. I tie the two middle cc1 and cc2 pins to ground using 5.1kohm resistors one connected to each. This will enable c2c if you dont care about that then just solder the positive and negative pins. The fuse should read 000 on continuity mode on your multimeter, check it if charging doesn't work.
