Yes RCA outs would make it a very good product, 100 percent agreed. I really dislike 3.5mm plugs, noisy, the connection wears out with time, should be baned from normal audio equipment other than portable devices.

By the time you buy the adapters and the app you can just about get a mini DSP 2 x 4 and I feel like that would be a much more powerful unit.

Worrying about the cables lol you can buy nice 3.5mm to RCA cables. If it had RCA it would be twice the size probably. And because it's a value unit, then you'd have to complain about the "cheap RCA terminals" on it

I didn't see it on the iWoofer page, but I wonder if it will accept a calibration file. If it does, you could use an iMM-6 www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-imm-6-calibrated-measurement-microphone-for-tablets-iphone-ipad-and-android--390-810 and the problem would be solved. Well, except for porting the full version to Android... That's the mic I got over Christmas. I'll let you know how I like it when I get it set up. "But that's another $17!" a few things. Those RCA 3.5mm likely measure just as well as any "high-end" option you seek out. 2nd, the reason why one is right angle is to allow options for the user, better to have one when needed that not have one at all. 3rd, the reason why its male ends is cause many people would leave the dsp unit by the sub, which would go right into the FEMALE RCAs on it. 4th, having a single RCA input would require the user to acquire an additional L/R combiner, a proper one, not just a Y cable.
@Toid
@Toid Год назад
It doesn’t make any sense to use 3.5 mm when all of your audio equipment uses RCA. From your receiver, you have a single RCA labeled a low frequency effect (LFE) output for a subwoofer. Your subwoofer also typically has one single RCA input for LFE. No, it doesn’t really matter if you have the DSP close to your subwoofer or your surround sound receiver. No matter what you’re going to have to convert that RCA to a 3.5 mm cable on both ends. It just doesn’t make sense to make it a 3.5mm on the unit and definitely not a 3.5 mm stereo cable since you’ll need to in most surround sound environments change that to mono. it would make a lot more sense to just have two female RCA ports. That way you can just run an RCA cable from the back of the surround sound receiver into this unit and then out of this unit to the subwoofer amplifier. There might be some cases where a 3.5 mm is more appropriate, but for normal surround sound use it’s not..
@DescartesRenegade
@DescartesRenegade Год назад
@@Toid perhaps they wanted to keep the footprint of the device static and left no room for RCAs on the PCB. I know it doesn't matter where you keep the dsp, but I, and probably many others, would just leave it behind the sub. This thing isn't just for home theater usage with LFE, they also made it for those who are 2.1 or 2.2, like me. Why handicap the product when all it takes is to allow for integration of a stereo signal with a 3.5mm jack? I'm not some audio guru, just an engineer who understands the manufacturing process of devices like these and to make it as flexible as possible to the broadest user base.
@Toid
@Toid Год назад
@@DescartesRenegade that is a good point. The only issue is the application only works with a mono subwoofer. So even if you do use two subwoofers, it’s going to DSP them as one. So you won’t be able to properly get the delay between the two subwoofers, correct. And since it doesn’t work for stereo speakers, but it’s designed for just subwoofer application, it doesn’t really make a lot of sense to make it stereo. The only real application I could see someone using two outputs is if the subwoofers are directly next to each other. Or if you use a stereo amplifier to power your subwoofer. Then in that case you could use really any amplifier you want and just use this for your high pass and low pass. Although once again, you would probably only be using one output on the amplifier, so that probably wouldn’t help either. Either way, I think you’re right, they did it mainly to keep the small footprint.
@DescartesRenegade
@DescartesRenegade Год назад
@@Toid but what if I want the sub to be as flat as possible to fill in the 2ch low end? Sure, the delay wouldn't be exact, but still better and FR can be flatter
@Toid

Hi guys does anyone know how to remove humming sound from the dsp lf
@Toid
@Toid 3 года назад
There shouldn't be any hum. The only reason why you'd get a hum is if there was an RCA end that wasn't connected to anything. So for example if you use a 3.5 mm to RCA cable that was a stereo cable and one of those ends is not hooked up... You could get a humming sound.

@@RockFordCademce yes if it has auto-tune. And I tried to make it as clear as I could, that needing an I device is one thing that I really don't like about it (I plan to go into further detail when the actual review comes out). But what I really want to clarify, is that I am not telling anyone to buy this. All I said is if you wanted to buy it, you should probably put an order in while it's on back order. I didn't go into great detail, but the thinking behind that is, as soon as that stock goes out again, who knows when they'll get another batch back in. With coronavirus affecting shipping times so much, It's anybody's guess on when they'll get more stock in. I really wanted to have this reviewed already, but I'm trying to hold off on doing a review until I can get someone over here with an iPhone to give it the full run through.
