This time we share the DIY Electronic Throttle Control also known as ETC or drive/throttle by wire. Usually with t-jet everyone is fitting a different FIRE intake manifold with a classic throttle. But we've decided to go for something more interesting and keep the original t-jet manifold and electronic throttle :D Soon you will see how this circuits controls Super Canary acceleration :D

A year or so ago I mailed with a champ from the Netherlands who used my controller in VW T3. Although it had the engine swapped for a Subaru one with ITB and he has modified an electronic throttle to use as an actuator for this ITB :-)

@@DStageGarage My brother's Vanagon has a form of VW Jetta petrol engine with no computer smarts. I believe we could swap in a later electronic jetta throttle body and accellerator pedal. Glad to be of some help ;-) Curiously even though Mega/MicroSquirt is pretty much non-existent in Poland (in big part because of polish ECU Master and their EMU) by an improbable plot of life I also use my ETC with MS II ;-)

I went to JLCPCB to make a board. It lists a couple items out of stock. Microchip Tech MCP6004T-E/SL (U2,U5,U6) and MC7805BDTG (U4,U7) is MC7805BD2TR4G a good substitute for MC7805BDTG is MCP6L04T-E/SL a good substitute for MCP6004T-E/SL

MCP6L04 is very similar to 6004 but there are plenty 6004 in stock just under different JLC part number for example C7378. U4 and U7 are in DPAK package (TO252) while "BD2T" most likely means D2PAK (TO263) which is different (bigger). There are many parts from other manufacturers in DPAK for example C21706.

Hi, there's a User manual in v1.3 folder (still working on one for v2.2 but for ordering process it's good enough). There's a detailed description with screenshots how to order the board from JLCPCB. So which part is a problem?

Siemka właśnie powoli kończę składać speeduino na płycie ECUTeen 3,5 docelowo będzie sterować hondowskie silnikiem na fajkocewkach i ITB i szukam metody by sterować ITB za pośrednictwem DBW czy wasz produkt można gdzieś nabyć oraz czy jest dalej rozwijany?? :)

Trochę późno odpowiadam ale jak coś to na forum speeduino jest temat o moim układzie i wrzuciłem dokumentację na githuba tak że można sobie wysłać samemu do produkcji w JLCPCB (łącznie z montażem komponentów). Dodaję link w opisie filmu.

Thanks ;-) Technically you could call it an analogue PI (no D) controller. The error amplifier in PWM controller provides the proportional part of course with a coefficient (gain) of around 10. But both inputs have low pass filters that can be considered the I part although it's different per input since one has a corner frequency of 10Hz and the other 720Hz.

The gas pedal I'm using in the video is nothing else but a variable resistor (potentiometer) so all you need is shown there ;-)

Hi, im having the same issue with the CPL file. JLCPCB wont accept the first page from the Bom list as it does not contain co-ordiates. Would you be able to share the CPL list? thanks

BOM is BOM, it is not the CPL which is commonly known as Pick and Place file and also JLC mentions that but I guess I will have to add a note in the manual. It is a separate file with "PnP" in name.

to co widać w 10:32 to właśnie kanał do kontroli wolnych obrotów tylko tutaj zmodyfikowany na potrzeby filmu żeby mógł otwierać do końca a normalnie jest do około 30%. Sygnał PWM z ECU tak jak dla zaworu wolnych obrotów z elekromagnesem a nie np. silnikiem krokowym.

Do you mean the controller for electronic throttle or whole ECU for the engine? Anyway, we do not have a mass production of these stuff, at least not now ;-) This controller shown on video above is quite flexible so it should work with most throttles probably once it's calibrated. If you won't something less DIY and looking for a performance ECU possibly also with electronic throttle controller for relatively good price you can check the EcuMaster EMU (polish brand sold all over the word).

Jak podobnie jak EMU jest 2 razy droższe (pod warunkiem, że MSa samemu się zlutuje oczywiście) a poza tym MS wytargaliśmy z S13 więc w pewnym sensie jest "za darmo" ;-) A poza tym wszyscy wszędzie dają EMU (nic mu nie ujmując bo to dobry i stosunkowo tani produkt) no to mamy coś innego i miło coś własnego dorzucić. Była też opcja całe ECU swoje dać ale leży i zbiera kurz niedokończone ;-)

I started to write down an algorithm and an excel sheet to help with that but I realized it's too complicated ;-) I'd say the easiest way is iterative approach. First set all pots for example in the middle and then measure the voltage on the TH+ and TH- (with throttle connected of course). Then adjust the pot near TH- until you get 1V there. Then check the voltage on TH+ and adjust the other pot so it's 4V, after that the voltage on TH- will no longer be 1V so adjust it again. Repeat that process few times and you should get pretty close to 1V and 4V (it doesn't have to be perfect as long as it's reasonably far away from 0.8V and 4.2V). The do the same for the GP+ and GP-. I hope this explanation is clear ;-) I should put it to the PDF...

Hi. I get people asking me about this controller from time to time and even as we speak there's one guy interested in getting it. So far due to some virus and personal issues I was unable to provide it but now I'm thinking about making few pieces. Just need to order the boards as I recently did for my speedometer controller and wideband O2 (which I haven't shown in any video yet). Anyway, if you would like to build it yourself I can send you gerber files, don't see a problem with that. Some time ago I actually upgraded the design slightly so I have the older PCB version that I'm still using and the newer one that I have not yet tried. However all main things remain the same so I would recommend to go with the new one which only changes the idle input handling. After quite a while I realized that my poor idle consistency might not solely came from stupid things done in MegaSquirt but actually the way I've done the input for idle on this controller. Turns out it only allows about upper 30% of idle PWM signal to do anything. In other words anything below 70% of duty had no effect at all and from 70 to 100% acts as somewhat 0-30% :p The reason for that comes from the principle on which my fail safes on the inputs work but I did not catch that on the first design. I believe that this slight redesign should get rid of this problem completely. Please send me an email to dstagegarage@gmail.com and I will provide you the gerber files. BTW, I have also just got boards for speeduino (I've used gerbers of v0.4.3b) as I thought it's cheap enough to have a play around even if I wouldn't use it in the end and what really cough my attention was the fact that it uses TunerStudio just like MegaSquirt. This probably means I can put in same project with all the maps and so on, just change pin settings and it should be working right away (well, still need to add VR sensor conditioning circuit). Also I was looking for alternatives to MegaSquirt as it has many flaws. Ideally I would buy ECUmaster EMU but just don't have the money lying around for that (even though it's cheaper in Poland ;-) ). Also a friend of mine was thinking about "experiments" with FIT 126p engine but he was really tight on budget so I was looking around for something cheap for him and came across speeduino and decided I will play around with that myself :-)

@@DStageGarage Awesome, will send email ASAP. I would also suggest looking in to Rusefi stm32 based ecu. Their microRusEFI ecu can control DBW throttle and all of their projects ar open source.

You just have to copy one tab from the BOM file that has the right (simplified) format for JLCPCB to a new file and send them this one. Maybe I will put it on the repo explicitly...
