Thanks alot for this video, this is excellent, super easy to follow and you covered everything! By far the best video on this available. For anyone wondering works for E1900 front also (same hub I believe).

I just replaced the bearings.I also worked with minimal tools.I swapped four on the back and two on the front.Your video confirms I didn't do anything stupid.I love your videos, lots of good ideas. Thank you.

ah mate you absolute legend, could swear it was the end caps as banging them back in tight sort of fixed the side play in my front wheel, alas it was a bearing change needed as even though they spun perfect they developed sideways play pretty badly after a ride or two again. "Blah, blah you gotta use an official DT mechanic" Nope! fixed it perfect. From one good ol brizzle boy to another thanks a bunch, this was the ONLY video I could find that sorted it perfect. Good job man.

Thanks man, this was excellent! And as it turns out, these bearings are the same as in my linkage, so I already had a bunch of them.

Thank you for this detailed view for every single step. However, the removal of the old bearing could be tricky. Again, good advise in regard to grease in so many steps to finalize the job. Great! Thx. R

Can anyone confirm the bearing? In the video it says ‘61902’ - but in the description it says ‘6902’. The ones I just removed were 6902, so I replaced them with the same - but there is a tiny bit of play - is this normal - or is a 61902 bearing required? Thanks.
@FreeToCycle

6902-2rs and 61902-2rs are the same size 15x28x7mm!

When should this service be made? every 5000km or so? or only when you notice issues when spinning the wheel?
@FreeToCycle
@FreeToCycle 3 года назад
There is no set mileage just depends on what conditions you ride in! It’s worth checking the bearings from time to time as part of regular maintenance.

What is your experience whit this non-axle design? Only the preload (and friction) holds up with the perpendicular forces to the axis, this does not seem to be a reliable design to me.

Shouldn’t be any lateral play from the hub!

Great video. Just tried it on my own bike, but seem to be stuck at the part where the collar has to be moved enough, to be able to throw a punch at the lip of the bearing (04:05). My collar won't move that much and just seems to be sliding back to the center again - could it be different on an M1900 wheel for some reason? 😞
@MTBTrailsAroundSurrey
@MTBTrailsAroundSurrey Год назад
Glad you've mentioned this, my M1900 collar is the same when I checked today. Bearings have rusted to bits so ordered some more. Will let you know if I have any issues replacing them
@chrbach
@chrbach Год назад
@@MTBTrailsAroundSurrey Hey mate! I suceeded with my replacement, but with a slightly different approach. I bought (what I think is called) a round mandrel, and managed to gently push the collar in, while at the same time punching on the bearing lip. I wrapped some duct tape around the tip of the mandrel - just to avoid any damage to the inside of the collar. Good luck with your project 🙂
@steriospeaker
@steriospeaker 3 года назад
Umm. Even when I’m pushing it aside, I get a tiny fraction of a mm lip, which it’s impossible to hit with anything ? 😕
