Nice kit Shane. I am looking for something for my RZR 900s and this was one of the first kits I saw. One suggestion to anyone installing this kit - PLEASE do not connect the negative first!! You won't need to worry about the ratchet striking the crossbar if you have the negative disconnected!! ALWAYS negative off first, on last.

Only suggestion, when pushing those wires (bus bar wires) back, be careful they won't come in contact with the driveshaft or coolant lines

Giving that the market is heavy on 4 wheelers vs side by sides you might do will to develop a kit for them. I have a Polaris 570 sportsman and the battery on that unit is woefully small even if you just add a winch.

I just got this kit installed and the isolator won’t turn off unless I disconnect both negative battery terminals. Both batteries are new and have full charge.

@GenesisOffroad 4 года назад
The red light stays on to indicate the batteries are still fully charged and connected until they drop below 12.7v for 1 minute, then the isolator automatically separates them. Here's a video with more details on that - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nRfTcgbDALM.html

I've had to replace three batteries since I have installed this kit. I've had it less than a year. I am pretty much replacing one PC925 Battery per ride. The kit is nice, it fits well, but batteries are expensive ($450 in batteries).

Question. So if I'm not running a huge amount of auxiliary equipment (sound system,lights,etc...) is there a battery that has smaller specs but same terminal configurations that will work with your kit
@GenesisOffroad
@GenesisOffroad 5 лет назад
I think we talked on the phone this morning, but the most important thing is to get the correct physical size. Our brackets are designed to work with the PC925 size batteries so they will line up with some factory mounting points. You may be able to get some traditional lead acid batteries that are less expensive than the Odyssey deep cycle ones. Just remember that lead acid batteries do not like being drained down and then recharged - that will reduce its lifespan.

@LittleBouchet

I finished installing your dual battery kit in my 2015 Polaris RZR Trail. Everything fit perfectly just as in your video. My only issue was that Battery Mart sent me an Odyssey PC925 battery that had the terminals reversed from the one like you used. I had to add a short extension to my factory positive cable. I was going to turn the battery around and have the terminals facing rearward, but in order to do that I would have to turn the hold down plate around and the boost button would not have been reachable. I The question I have is are there any specific things you have to do if attaching a battery charger/maintainer? I have a NOCO Genius 3500 with the different modes for AGM batteries. Didn't want to do anything that might damage the isolator.Thanks, Rick
@GenesisOffroad
@GenesisOffroad 7 лет назад
Hey Rick, is it possible to get Battery Mart to swap those out for the correct model? All the wires would line up so much better! To connect a charger, hook it directly to your cranking battery's posts (the one by the door). This way, once the charger has topped off the cranking battery, the isolator will link the 2 batteries together, and your charger will flow through the isolator to top off the aux battery as well.
@LittleBouchet
@LittleBouchet 7 лет назад
I'll give Battery Mart a call to see if they will do that.Thanks. Rick

Excuse my ignorance whats the purpose of this set up?
@GenesisOffroad
@GenesisOffroad 4 года назад
It allows you to run your aftermarket accessories with the engine off without draining your cranking battery. You can jump start yourself from the second battery if the cranking battery is too low by simply pressing the boost button. It also gives you the power & ground bus bars as a convenient spot to connect accessories without stacking up a bunch of wires on the battery post clamp.

Just now installing it on my 2015 RZR Trail. It all seams to fit just like in your video. One question, what is the little white wire hanging off the back side of your solenoid? Just curious. Rick
@GenesisOffroad
@GenesisOffroad 8 лет назад
Rick Hood hey Rick, the white wire is for a remote status indicator. It's like an extension of the red led on top of the isolator. You can extend that white wire to one side of an led, and run the other side to 12v positive. The light will be on when the batteries are linked together, and off when the batteries are isolated (cranking battery below 12.7v for one minute).

Can this kite used with stock battery? I don't want to buy two new batteries. I just bought a spare stock battery so I have dropped some money already.
@GenesisOffroad
@GenesisOffroad 8 лет назад
+Eddy Stocker Unfortunately the stock battery won't work because the battery posts are in the wrong orientation. We tried to make it work, but there is just not enough room for everything to line up. You'll need to use the regular PC925 to get the posts in the correct orientation. Also, the stock battery is lead acid, which is not designed for deep cycle applications. If you plan to run your accessories with the engine off, you will need to run deep cycle AGM batteries for the best performance. Draining and recharging a lead acid battery will reduce its overall life span. Hope this info helps!

Enjoyed the video everything would have worked great if the main battery-positive cable would have only been an inch longer. to reach the main battery terminal. Battery cable extender...
@GenesisOffroad
@GenesisOffroad Год назад
Yeah on some models that factory positive wire is tight. Some customers have reported that they were able to get inside the center console area and clip a zip tie which allowed them to gain a little more slack on that wire to reach the battery easier. Try that and let me know if that works for you!

I have my stock battery and a aftermarket battery MP600 and when I had my rock lights,led bar,whiplights,side view mirror with led light plus cb radio,plus stage 4 Rockford fosgate system and winch and S&B particle separator filter they connected my batteries parallel. Now if I'm running my music and chase light and s&b filter and I hit the button for my cb radio the music and filter dimmed down. Would your isalotar kit make a difference or what do suggest I do?? Thanks and any info would help
@GenesisOffroad
@GenesisOffroad 5 лет назад
It sounds like you're running into the limits of the stock charging system. The factory stator can only produce somewhere around 50 amps, and the majority of that gets used by the stock components to run the vehicle. The extra capacity can be used to run your aftermarket accessories, but if you are consuming more than the stator can provide, then the excess will come from the batteries. Our dual battery system will spread the demand across the 2 batteries so they share the load, but if you're steadily using more power than the stator can provide, then you'll be draining the batteries. In this case, you'd need to look into an upgraded stator, or simply run fewer accessories at the same time. Hope this helps!

Which battery do I connect my trickle charger to?
@GenesisOffroad
@GenesisOffroad 5 лет назад
You can connect a charger to your factory positive wire on the cranking battery (by the door) and the factory negative wire on the aux battery (by the center console). This way the trickle charger works just like your alternator - it will charge the cranking battery first for a couple minutes, then the smart isolator links the batteries together to charge the aux battery as well.

Is the red Isolator light suppose to come on? I Just installed kit.
@GenesisOffroad
@GenesisOffroad 5 лет назад
The red light will turn on when the smart isolator sees your cranking battery above 13.2v for 2 minutes, to indicate the batteries are connected together and they are both being charged by the alternator. They will remain connected until they drop below approx. 12.7v for 1 minute, then the smart isolator will automatically separate the batteries and the light will turn off.
@armijo729
@armijo729 5 лет назад
Can the battery run dead even with motor running ?
@GenesisOffroad
@GenesisOffroad 5 лет назад
That would only happen if your accessories are using more power than the alternator/stator can provide. If that happens, the excess power needs will come from the batteries. Since our kit has 2 batteries, you'll be draining down both at the same time, but only until they drop to 12.7v. At that point the smart isolator will separate the batteries. Your accessories connected to our bus bars will continue to run from the aux battery only, and the engine will be charging up your cranking battery. Once the cranking battery is above 13.2v for 2 minutes, the smart isolator will reconnect them to start charging the aux battery. If your accessories are constantly using a large amount of current, such as a big stereo system for example, then you'd eventually drain down that aux battery. You would notice the accessories start to shut down though. Remember, our system is designed to protect the cranking battery from being drained down by your accessories, so even if that aux battery goes dead, you'll still be able to start the engine.

Your cranking battery ground wire it significantly shorter than you show in the video.. by at least two inches.. you show plenty of slack in the video but in reality it is short.. other than that and some changes to make things fit better well made kit..
@GenesisOffroad
@GenesisOffroad 7 лет назад
Hi Kevin, we have received reports from a few customers that their factory ground wire was a bit shorter than the one shown in the video, as you mentioned. We have found that there is a wire retainer and zip tie under the center console that prevents that ground wire from coming out far enough. You should be able to reach in there and remove the zip tie to free up a few inches of slack on that wire. We had one customer who still didn't have quite enough length, so he notched the hole where the ground wire goes into the center console area by about an inch, and that gave him the needed slack. I hope these tips help! Feel free to email shane@genesisoffroad.com or call 901-214-5337 with any other concerns!
