I have now successfully setup dual charing the output of my 600W solar panel to my 2 powers systems.
In this video I'll demonstrate how this works as well as showing you the wiring diagram and other devices I've used for this setup.

I am in awe at your knowledge.Didn't understand a word of your detailed explanation but for some reason I enjoyed watching.

Genius John This is actually exactly what I’ve been looking for for a while, i started with a Delta 2 but added 2 lead acid batteries and a Victron MPPT. I’ve been disconnecting and reconnecting the solar manually which was a pain- this is just perfect THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU 🙏

I’m setting up a similar system, the way I was going to do it is to charge the main Hab battery via solar & alternator. Then run your Victron DC to DC booster from the Hab battery and connect it to the input of the power station. It will then be fully automated, the power station will take away the load from the booster when full and the solar controller will stop charging the Hab battery when full. The Hab battery is then being used as a power reservoir to ensure the power station is always topped up to 100%. When the sun goes down after you’ve cooked your evening meal, the power station automatically gets charged to 100% again via the Hab battery. If you want to prioritise the Hab battery charging (which you did), you just isolate the booster, to stop it charging the power bank. The only downside is the losses from the Victron booster.

Your idea has a few flaws, by wiring it your way you’ll waste a lot of power. That’s why I’ve wired my system in the way I have.

Great stuff, John, thanks, I've been wondering if it's possible to share my 150w panel between my Victron MPPT controller and my 1000w Jackery, looks like it as and will work a treat! Saves me getting a 3 way switch to manually switch the solar to the Victron or Jackery, nice one, will probs do a vlog on it. Cheers 🥂

Hi John, great info vlog. Just wondering if you could use a voltage split relay to prioritise the hab battery to always be full before charging power station 🤔

You could if that works best for you.

Really good bit of tech info. Could this setup work if you have a 100W and a 200W panels if connected in parallel
@GadgetJohn
@GadgetJohn 3 месяца назад
As long as the final voltage of the panel setup is compatible with the solar chargers it should be fine

I've been wondering if it was a possibility, thanks for answering the question John. Have you considered installing a hot water tank with a 12v element supplied from surplus electricity after both batteries are full?
@GadgetJohn

I don’t have a hot water system, cold water only & it’s been fine.

Super John. I'm reflecting on the scenario where your PowerBan, is replaced by your starter battery in a similar scenario, where there are several solutions to get charge to both e.g Solar charge controller that handles a primary and secondary battery, split charge relay etc, which I understand works on the 12V DC output side.Do you believe sharing the power at the solar input side is more efficient? - or am I totally missunderstanding😊?
@GadgetJohn
@GadgetJohn 2 месяца назад
My power station could never be replaced by the starter battery, they’re totally different products. Dual output solar chargers do exist to enable charging 2 separate batteries, but I’m charging a 12v battery here & a 48v power station so that’s why the solution I have works in this unique setup. If you want spare solar power to charge a starter battery then the best solution is a battery balancer.

Very interesting John. Have you figured out what is causing the flip-flop between the two loads? Do you still have the option to charge from your alternator? 👋🇺🇦🇪🇺
@nur_noch_elektrisch7429
@nur_noch_elektrisch7429 3 месяца назад
The flip-Flop is caused by the two MPPT-Controllers working on the same panel to find the optimal power point. They dont find one in this situation. But this is not a great issue, because both get some power over time, which is the Intention of the setup. You loose some energy but not that much. In my case (Victron MPPT and Deye 600W Micro Inverter - one Port) is under 10% loss.
@GadgetJohn
@GadgetJohn 3 месяца назад
To be honest the way the 2 chargers adapt to the solar input isn’t an issue for me, everything gets charged and so far on shared output I’ve seen 445 watts & on single 470 watts, which isn’t a huge loss and nothing I’m concerned about. The Dabbsson only has 1 DC input so I have to plugin the solar or b2b, but my renogy setup has solar on full time and works in conjunction with the b2b from the alternator and over had over 100 amps charge going in this way.

Hi John is your solar input charge constant (if the British sun allows) or does it disconect when you start the engine
@GadgetJohn
@GadgetJohn 3 месяца назад
My solar system is independent from the engine charging system, so the solar is always on.

Hi John, I notice that whilst this similar to my Van's set up, used over 2 years now. I foresee a mppt conflict with the renogy feeding the dabbsson which has it's own mppt. I'm lead to believe that it's a conflict that may reduce solar generation, or maybe not. I utilise a 100w panel into a 30amp block, live and neg to pwm and live & neg to solar Genny, s2000AP. Leaving that to use the built in mppt whilst any generated remains solar powered the shiite autotrail installed banner leisure battery. No issues really, I've changed it recently to leaving the 100w panel to crack on daily, but now have 360w panels feeding directly into 2 s2000's, which I've no issues. I may utilise that relay you have to isolate charging if it reduces the input to much, hope theres a link. Cheers

Still think you don’t understand what this is about. I’m not charging 2 batteries, I’m sharing solar between a solar charger and a power station. So your idea will not work.
