My dad died of cancer when I was 12 he paid for everything with cash from his factory job he drove to 6 days a week an hour each way half day on Saturday so his 6 kids didn't have to grow up in the city in 1969 he paid cash for a 69 Pontiac Catalina 400 cubic inch dark green metallic. I've been friends with people that could sell someone their own trash back but I can't probably due to my dad saying always treat others better than yourself because a clean conscious is better than a profit. I understand each side if someone wants to pay so be it I'm just not a wheeler dealer and honestly don't think I want to be. I have always paid well below market for all the accumulated Dodge's in disarray scattered on 3 properties in 2 states yes I'm a hoarder but if need be a profit could be made on any of the Dodge's
@garybaris139
@garybaris139 3 года назад
@@1STGeneral I don't honestly understand the immediate assumption that wheeling & dealing is dishonesty. If you find an item being sold at below market value and you buy it to resell it at market value, that's wheeling and dealing. What part of that is dishonest and what part of that bothers your conscience? If you buy up vehicles and break them up for parts which you sell off at market related prices and so doing double your money, that's wheeling and dealing and no part of it is dishonest. If you buy a vehicle that has been neglected at a good price that is in line with its worth in that condition and you fix it up and sell it at the new price which is in line with its better condition, that's wheeling and dealing and no part of that is unethical or dishonest. Nowhere in any part of this video did he suggest being dishonest was what he did nor that he thought it was acceptable.
@morganandreason
@morganandreason 3 года назад
I think the phrase "wheeling and dealing" has different meanings depending on your location and/or social circles. When you look up a dictionary definition, you get things like this: "to try to make a profit or get an advantage using clever or complicated methods and often deceiving people or breaking the usual rules: He spends his time wheeling and dealing on the stock exchange".

omg, you are going to love starlink! Much higher bandwith, much better latency, much more robust(snow and rain), and cost. Heck, it even has a heater that will melt the snow off of it! Perhaps see if you can cash in on your channel size to see if they will move you up in line. Great video, can't wait to see more truck stuff.

(get rid of the trucks, lol) i am really finding i enjoy the few moments with the two of you at the end. i had no idea that your internet, that we all take for granted, was such a struggle. I have always assumed you went into town and uploaded from there. Your family adventure has become a very much anticipated and enjoyed moment every week. God bless, keep on keeping on. thanks for letting us in.

I relate so much to your mindset - I have an overactive mind and am constantly working on projects while thinking about other projects or cool ideas in my head, and often get one done almost all the way and find myself working on another, then look back and I have about 9 or 10 projects going on at the same time. Looks like a mess to other people, but it's very much organized chaos in my head. I love watching your content and seeing such a good-hearted, hard-working family doing things the right way. Thanks for posting these, you inspire people like me to keep being myself and to keep working hard.

When you get around to choosing window coverings, take a look at cellular blinds. They trap the cold air from outside in the winter and the hot air in the summer, amazingly insulating. They aren't the least expensive option but not the most expensive either. If you 'special order' them, you can choose from different colours to go with each room while every one of them will match from the outside. I call them "self-dusting" because nothing "sticks" when opening and closing them. That's a bonus, eh?! With love from Canada

you would pick up painting fast. I'm like you, love to see what I can do to save a truck or car. I've always been like you and am doing it again ( I'm 82 ) building a 1963 Honda road racer ground up. Started the project over 5 years ago searching for rare parts for the 350 around the globe, getting the engine together and having to find racing parts on line and from old friends to help finish my project. Today I finished the 4.5 gallon racing gas tank so now I can get it ready to start up. The engine is new in every respect except for the original castings for the head and cases. Pistons, valves valve springs with titanium retainers, cam regrind by Delta cams, Amal 30mm carbs all new and ready to fire up.

Just watching you working on the trucks, one inside and the other on pavement has to be really good for you. Trying to jack things up on stones isn't easy and even dangerous. Good to see things slowly improving for you all. When you ran out of water did you pump water out of your well up to the tank(s)? I can remember in a really early video that you might have secured some water source up hill from you. Is that still a viable source of water? Stay warm!

I don't know about you, but the upgrade for Android that came out in December screwed up my and many other people's wifi settings causing devices to keep dropping the internet. I have fiber optic (FIOS) which can handle many devices all at high speeds with no problem when working right, but whatever was in this "upgrade" screwed up all our Android devices, we'd have good a connection, but the internet would "disconnect," anyhow I found out it was a simple fix to reset the WiFi and Bluetooth to original settings, re-entering passwords and we were back to normal. Don't know if this helps, but I hope you have success in getting an internet connection that suits your family's needs. Alway, I always enjoy watching y'all at Red Poppy Ranch, God Bless your family and may we all find peace in these very crazy times we live in.. Hi Heath, I'm a long time viewer, and the former CTO of a satellite Internet service provider in the Middle East. Leaves growing in the trees are an actual problem for maintaining line of sight to a satellite. Given you are on a North facing, your line of site must run close to the earth for any geosynchronous satellite (Viasat, Hughes, but not Starlink). Not saying he was correct, but it is reasonable.

My Dad was a A grade motor mechanic after 12 in service after WWII. So he never had a new car. He’d say “Once a car is off the showroom floor they all are 2nd hand anyway. When I was 19 my car was a 1059 Morris Minor. It didn’t look anything special but she purée like a kitten. We, as a family went out to Roma, 350 miles west of Brisbane. Dad was raised out that way. A heap of my male cousins stole the car one night, by morning it was masked, sanded, undercoated and one coat of a dark green. We went out there with a ratty car and came back with a really nice one. I think in the ‘50’s it was an old great Cherie ? Spelling. I know Dad taught me to crawl under it, he would fit the spammer on them I’d get in and undo the last of the sump. First time , Mum was furious, I got all the sump oil in my hair. Never again. I learned to know when to such and pull the tray in. The car was so low to the ground Dad couldn’t get under it without jacking it up and that of cause put the sump on the wrong angle to drain. So that’s when little 5-6 children learn to do what dad can’t do. My old Morris ran on the smell of a greasy rag. I’d better go it’s late ere. But old cars -- to me can be worked on and have character all of their own. Love you guys. Ellen. Queensland, Australia.

Who would of thought that was a lady talking? Giggling... I grew up with mechanics too. Helped take apart a '75 celica engine and put it back together. And now work at a Chevy dealership, so know my way around a vehicle too.

I think you were meant to work with vehicles. I think you going into plumbing was just some serendipitous step to be able to learn the building trades for homes.haha. such is life. and Lastly, please do give us feedback on StarLink when you get it. i am personally very interested. thanks guys!

Wheeling and dealing is and art same as what a salesman does. As for your satelite problem perhaps install a tower on your property ot make a deal with the service in your area to lease a area for them too install there own tower. For the area sorta like a REPEATER station. God bless be safe. Jim

How’s completing the interior of the house going for Cedar? Spring will be here in a few months and you won’t want to be inside then. You have a lot on your plate but the best way to finish is to stick to your list. I love the content and all you are working on outside but I’m sure it has to be weighing on you to close that out.

Agree, agree, agree on viasat. It’s either that or Hughes. I want to get rid of it but do not have options.

Heath, the Earth’s magnetic pole is always shifting. This does not change the rotational North Pole. The rotational does also shift (precession).

But not near as rapid as it has in the last couple years. And it's the magnetic pole that affects satellite and electrical signals
