I obviously know about holding down the PS home button for 15 seconds to turn off a controller, that’s not as fast as the 2 seconds to turn off an Xbox controller.
For me after using the duelsense edge for 6 hours with cod, hogwarts & fifa I've still got 1 bar of battery left I've used all controllers and the elite 2 would be hard to beat but for a 2 back button controller fits better in my hands and as become my favourite of the bunch. Is it worth £209.99 to me absolutely 💯
I noticed the DS5 Edge was built a little differently than the regular DS5. I honestly don't like the DS5, but I hated the Edge for the worst ergonomics. I felt my hand didn't sit properly on the controller and using the left stick was extremely bad. I had to keep adjusting my hands and always felt uncomfortable. I wanted a controller with asymmetrical sticks, but I also tried the Victrix and that wasn't too great either for the non-removable paddles mostly, but the weight and lack of available app use yet to change the paddle layout made me not keep that one too. I just bought the Brooks adapter and will use an Elite Series 2 controller with it instead. Since that is the feel I'm looking for anyway.
@AZGARD no, don't do that either. I bought the brooks adapter, and the elite series controller only works with ps4 games and only within menus. Ps5 compatibility sucks!
I have “Enable Power Off Link” enabled under [Settings > System > HDMI > Enable HDMI Device Link] so I can put my PS5 into rest mode by turning off the TV. Turning the TV off/on is a janky workaround but still faster if I accidentally turn it on while watching TV. Thanks for calling out this annoyance. I thought the media remote would solve this but it didn’t.
I’ve charged mine completely overnight and have had it go dead 1 hour into playing it and I have the dim turned down to lowest setting and don’t have the vibration turned on. Also I have been having issues with the sticks. They will act like they have lag in them. When you try to move it won’t react at all for a few seconds then jump way over. Anyone else have these issues?
ALL HAIL THE STALLION LEADER! Yeah so I’ll be giving DeadSpace a try after I finish GOW: Ragnarok. I don’t know about this controller though, just not yet sold on the price tag with the 4 hour battery life. Be well Kev.
Is the Edge supposed to have charge “breathe” light that pulses when you charge it like the dualsense does? My Edge does not have a charge light when I’m charging it 🤔
Funny thing is i never cared for the haptic feed back and all the extra features with the ps5 controller so i always played with all these settings off from day one
I’m currently playing Callisto Protocol and LoU Remake w/ the Edge and love it. I’ve been using the Steady for the right stick which helps aiming. Would be cool if you share mapping suggestions.
Update on my dual sense... I have about 60 hours or so on my controler, my right trigger now has a extra click when it's on short push. It I gentle push it is fine... but if I give it a bit more pressure it clicks and goes down even further. I'm going to contact Sony tomorrow about it. Just wanted to give a update. I love my controller though.
It gives me the question mark battery when playing tethered, was ready for that sweet refund. I wonder what it means, hopefully switching to usb changes that, keeping my fingers crossed for another follow up video this month🤞
Mineis brand new and gets 4hrs at best. Tried the Victrix Pro and that lasted about 10 but it doesn't have haptics or vibration. Sadly the Edge with those turned off is still close to 6. I like its feel but that battery life is terrible.
Anyone else wondering how come you can’t adjust the official ps headset volume using the dualsense edge controller? Kinda sucks but hopefully it gets included in a future update unless I’m doing something wrong
I’d be very curious to see battery life between some of the top customs compared , my scuff(ps5) gets way less battery than my aim(ps5) , but my aim has a few more features. Great work as always brother!
All of the other pro controllers (except razer's) are literally just a Dualsense controller that has been modded, battery life should not be significantly different in any of them.
@@bonanzabrandon6877 they all have different re map kits/chips and features, battery drain will be different . I’d love if my scuff lasted as long as my aim but it doesn’t unfortunately.
@@GamerHeavenOfficial I LOVE the way my scuff feels but it has fallen apart faster than any other dual sense, less battery life(4.5 hours at most , playing D2), stick drift so bad it’s unusable until I get the potentiometer replaced. It’s my favorite paddle design by far but mine isn’t doing to hot.
@@GamerHeavenOfficial I was wondering once you open it can we put a oem ps5 controller battery on the edge let me know once you open it if it can be done cause I will do it lol
I had one of these on pre-order but then canceled it because I heard just how abysmal the battery life is, not this is a big deal to me. The thing is I'm just concerned that they'll cave fo pressure and do a hardware revision where they fix this issue - like what Nintendo did with the orginal Switch - meaning that if you "invest" in this device you'll just be left high and dry when they bring out the new one, I. E., You either hang onto it and deal with having an inferior unit or sell it and get less money for it since there will be less of a demand for the orginal due to the fact there's a new unit out there. Is this a valid concern? I suppose that Sony could make things right if they offered a trade in value on the orginal but I just don't see them doing that. They'd be more likely just to leave you high and dry.
This will be fixed in a year or two by the aftermarket. There's not a whole lot available yet for the Dualsense, but there are PLENTY of aftermarket batteries for the DS4 that extend the battery life. I did it for mine a few years ago and it was an absolute GODSEND. Combine that with a USB-C upgrade, and I never had charging issues with the Dualshock 4 again. I'm looking forward to doing the same with my Dualsense.
I was beginning to think my controller was faulty because of the poor battery life, pretty disappointing tbh and not what I expected from a £200 controller. As a result I would not be able to recommend this to anyone.
Use the USB cable. If you buy a SCUf, Victrix, Battle B, Hexgaming, Aim controller.... All of them are way more expensive and just have mouse trigger and use the same stick as a regular PS5 controller, that's why I bought the Edge, you got some pro future + all PS5 games future. Keep your edge and buy some stuff from Xtreme rate and do your own controller.
Was wondering the best 4 paddle control that won't break the bank . Seen your reviews but can't decide. I don't fps a lot so wanted something more versatile. Scuff is overrated but like the profile options. Wat do u recommend
I was only able to play for about 3 hours before battery blinking for recharge. It tells and looks so good, but does not last long for long play. Edit: Feels and looks*
Honestly GH I can't wait til you review the Victrix Procon BFG because I've had mine since last Friday here in the UK and it's a solid 9/10 definitely the best pro controller for the PS5 without a doubt.
My dualsense edge hasn't died yet, but I've got it down to 1 bar in about 3 hours with all vibrations/haptics disabled and with the light set to dim. ALSO, faster way to turn off your dualsense controller, is first unplug it if it's plugged in, then hold down the ps button, and then throw it onto your floor as hard as you can. If done correctly the controller will cut off.
@TiagoBlomker I'm not a iPhone user anymore but the a50 is a budget phone and feels like a toy compared to iPhone 14 or a new galaxy. You get what you pay for. Are they overpriced yeah but not a good comparison. I think its funny when people brag about budget crap and think they are getting a good deal. Your actually getting ripped off just as much just at a lower cost. Budget tvs are the worst. There is a big difference between a 500 dollar tv and a 2k tv. Your just buying old technology and getting ripped off just as much. My neighbor just bought a 500 dollar tv and is bragging about how good of a deal he got. What he got was 10 year old technology with a below average display panel. People think just because it says 4k and smart tv that it's good. They also build all budget electronics with the cheapest parts possible. It's all junk sorry
I just don't think the Dualsense Edge is a good value for anyone that isn't competitive with their games, even casually. I'm going to use my controllers wirelessly and if I'm having to be tethered to a controller and constantly charge the controller every gaming session, that's just a dealbreaker.
Is it a deal breaker to have to chuck a controller in the garbage when it gets stick drift? Because that's what you have to do with all those other controllers.
its not a good value for anyone that IS competitive with their games either, 99% of competitive gamers need 4 paddles/buttons and wont use vibrations or adaptiver triggers..edge has 2 back buttons only so its already a dealbreaker for most competitive gamers.
@@bonanzabrandon6877 victrix bfg has swappable thumbsticks too..and stick drift sets in after like 3+ years, sometimes even longer than that, its an unfortunate consequence of controlers..but 200$ every 3 to 4+ years for a quality controller experience is definitely worth it over the edge, imo
The elite was not overpriced at all. I have it for pc. It was around 140 dollars on sale. 3 years ago. Still works fantastically. And still holds 35 hours battery with all features on Max
the complete breakdown of sonys first pro controller is hands down the best ive seen on youtube. thank you for showcasing this battery issue. keep up the amazing content man.
The battery definitely sucks for people that play on the couch but it's not the end of the world. The no go for me is only 2 back buttons. I'm sure it's a decent controller but I don't think it's worth 200 dollars. No pro controller really is though. They are all overpriced. I got the razer for ps5 because I wanted the extra buttons. Great controller but extremely overpriced. I'm hoping sony does a version 2 with 4 back buttons and a better battery.
yet that $20 stick module Dosn't come with the Tumbstick caps which you can't buy especially btw so when they go just buy a new controller great job Sony
New to the PlayStation community. Got a dual sense edge back in November. And I am still shocked how fast the battery goes in the these. At last the Xbox elite controller battery life is a solid. Unlike my dating life
@@Sportek24 in my country we cant return it but i got it 2 weeks ago and i love it tbh , 1 thing i dont like is u cant remap the buttons to keyboard buttons so u can mute tha game or make a push to talk button or smth .. but hopefully they add a software later for it
For some reason the egde dosen't work with remote play. U can connect the edge to the tablet you're using but when in the remote play app, it just dosen't respond. Id like to see if you can figure that out. I know you don't have much on remote play but thought I'd mention it. Please figure this out sir. Porfa please.
I know the battery life is atrocious but for me as a gamer that can try to get 2 hr at most in a day for gaming I see this as amazing controller doesn’t bother me but I can see those who stream or play longer session yeah it will be annoying but how many hrs do the average gamer play tho 👀
What about upgrading then battery in the controller? I recently upgraded my ps4 controller from 1000mah to 2200 mah, curious about ps5 as I'm wanting to mod it also.
@@vitorfernandes651 better than 4 separate inputs to navigate… I guess? Longer yes, but easier also yes I’m really good at speedrunning turning off my xbox controller, it’s always bothered me that the dualsense takes so much longer to turn off (comparatively)
@@vitorfernandes651 Well as someone who frequently turns off their controllers on both consoles (when watching Netflix or other streaming apps) I can 100% confirm that turning off the PS5 controller is straight up painful compared to how easy it is on the Xbox
