I just have to tell you ,after a busy tough day watching a video of you is pure joy...I realized that I can hear you smile in the parts where you did a voice over....you are so warm and bubbly....you are like a fresh breeze or a warm blanket...depending on the need....thank you for putting joy back into a mundane day❤
7:53 card catalog- I’ve always wanted one of these! Could be used for jewelry, craft supplies, etc. our local library uses one for the seed catalog (free local seed exchange). Also, I saw a Texaco sign - being from Texas, that warned my heart! Than you for the visit to the salvage yard!
6:23 the encyclopedias really brought back happy memories, before GOOGLE that is the way we learned about all the things. I spent many hours as a kid “ googling” things I wanted to know more about and things I didn’t even know I wanted to know about!😊
As always, a pleasure to watch your videos! Too many things on my wish list in that store! 1.04 mirror, 1.12 painting, 4.19 tap, 5.20 lamp, 6.05 fireplace, 7.16 floor lamp, 10.28 urns. I could probably add at least 20 other things that I only got a glimpse of.
Ooooo Catherine , thanks for taking us along, I loved that sign at 0:59 ... the Fire Place with pretty tiles !! at 6:03 I loved that Wee Grotto x The Dinner set at 14:10
@@DaintyDiaries War memorial gardens are formal gardens. But keep walking up the path along the river and its a straight path up to Chapelizod is just a footpath / cycle track along the river. There can be quite a bit of rowing along the river certain days which I enjoy watching. If you're coming from Chapelizod, the path is on the north side of the river, with the entrance on St Lawrence road, after you pass all the houses.
6:38 I loved the 3 pieces of velvet furniture, a sofa and two chairs not sure if they were gray or a lavender color. I loved several other things too though!
I saw three items that I would love to find. They are all similar cabinets with lots of small drawers. My favorite at 5:46, another at 7:13, and one at 7:53. Thanks for taking us along.
For a dream purchase…14:34 those yellow and blue vases. For a realistic one, I am always up for more gardening books! 17:30. Excited for your book release! ❤
Love those old wooden doors, the concrete urns, the tiled fireplace that you liked and at 4:46 the beautiful ornate gilded mirror with the marble topped table as it looks very French country to me. Thank you for taking us along on this cold day 30 F degrees here in the states and we got snow yesterday, in April! Unbelievably cold for this time of the year. 🍀❤☃🤗
Hi Catherine! I just pre-ordered your new book hoping for a signed copy. I bought your first book but was too late in getting a signed copy. 🙄 My bad! 😂 I love your creativity, DIY’s, your silly kitties, and your sense of humor. Can’t wait to get the book! Cheeky thumbs up!!! 👍🏻😉🍷🥰🙏
I also love the cabinets with lots of drawers. Particularly fancied ones at 7:00 and 7:53. Really liked the metal one with wood drawers. You have a knack for video and photos!
I'm so glad I found you! I'm buying a house soon and I'm planning on a cottage theme/granny core aesthetic and I needed ideas! Not only do I love thrifting, planning to redo the garden, but this is also all in Ireland. Love that coincidence. Also looking for more thrift/salvage stores so this really helped me a lot. New subscriber here!
06:53 the round drum-like cabinet with fluted doors (looks MCM). Looks as though it's meant to go through the wall. Oooh, and 07:58, the card file cabinet. Also 08:13 there's a sort of Art Deco window at the very right of the screen.
I could spend all day in that salvage yard, dreaming of building a greenhouse out of old windows and doors. The concrete urns and pedestals at 10:30 and the bird baths at 16:43 were some of my favorites, but there were so many interesting things to see!
05:04 that trike bike caught my eye. Also the red chair beyond it. Oh I could use that one. 15:19 cream Anne? chair. I have a similar one but very run down that needs a fix up
The earthenware jar is the same as the one in my kitchen 😊 it was my grandmothers and it was always used for salt, (back in the 1930’s) We had a really huge one that got broken, don’t think they’re worth a fortune, but I hope you love yours as much as I love mine
I would be so poor at the end of that trip, love antiquing and thrifting. Can’t wait for your book to arrive, not sure how long the journey to Canada will be but I’m looking forward to it!
I really loved you bringing us to the charity shops and the Warehouse Catherine. I loved the same fireplace u did it reminds me of my home grown up and I love 7.17 the lamp
Hello! I’ve just recently discovered your channel and I’m completely smitten! Gardening, thrifting, cats…kindred spirits! You are a joyful breath of fresh air!! Cheers from Highland Lake, Alabama USA!
I love salvage yards. We had a fantastic, somewhat famous one in Atlanta, Georgia that closed about 30 years ago. A crying shame. That place had it all!😔😢😭
5:48 the library catalogue cabinet 😍 I have no need for a library catalogue cabinet and nowhere to put a library catalogue cabinet but oooh. This is why I can't go to these places. I bought a bureau from a place that is part auction house part sale room and had to walk through wearing blinkers 😂
@@DaintyDiaries thank you for allowing me to safely browse! That was so much fun and I'm enjoying reading all the other comments to see what everyone else has an eye on 😊
Hello, Just preordered your book, can’t wait to receive it( clever you). Thank you for your lovely RU-vid videos, always great to see you. Take good care. See you soon on screen. JulieAnn xxx
There were too many lovely things to choose just one! The salvage was wonderful, I loved the fireplace with the tiles as well. The things I didn’t care for were the repop probably from India and the ones that looked like they were emulating MCM from the US. I like the original old things, not things that were made to look like they’re old. That glass conservatory! Whoa, you don’t see things like that in America.
I would have chosen loads of stuff in the first one! In the posh antiques shop I surprised myself by recognising two ceramic vases from Seville, the ones that have got Betica and No8Do ( there's a good story behind this word. Maybe fun to Google it 😉) on them (14:32 more or less). I feel like that in those shops. xxx
Hello Ms. Catherine that was a huge 2nd hand store... I love it ♥️ nice pick love the candle holder I always light a candle at my altar every morning. Also beautiful Grotto we make a wish every time we light a candle.
I always keep a small tape measure in my purse along with 3" x 5" index cards that have measurements of furniture I have, walls and spaces in my house, color swatches affixed. I also keep another larger tape measure in the glove box of the car; you just never know when you're going to run across that perfect piece at a thrift store, garage sale, estate sale, etc.
So I have 5 !! 7.54 old filing cabinet, 8.04 fireplace surround, 10.18 old bricks, 10.30 concrete planters and 10.57 the Guinness barrel - can ya tell I’m from Canada 🇨🇦 😂. Lovely video Catherine and don’t let anyone make you feel inferior- you go girl ❤
Your visit to the antique store had me drooling over the leaded glass windows…especially the triangular ones. Thanks for sharing your sweet, upbeat thoughts and wanderings. Your joyful demeanor is much appreciated.
Time stamp 6.32. The Green desk lamp. Stunning. 10.06 the Water pump tap oh I’d love that for my garden. Oh if only we lived over there but alas I live in North Queensland Australia. 😊
7:55 the display table to the left. I've been looking for something like it to display my ever growing collection of oddities. You got the Winnie the pooh honey pot!
Knew you would pick the earthenware, had your name on it. I pre ordered your first book from Easons and have done the same with the new one, can't wait. You are officially coffee table books, with the first book sitting proudly on top of the White Company book, see I know quality when I see it😃
Hi Catherine I loved the black fireplace 6:04 and the copper teapot at 5:44 also was that a water fountain at 10:05 imagine spraying that black it would make a gorgeous feature in the garden,we had a log burner installed last year it is wonderful but that black fireplace is beautiful and then you could set the copper teapot on the hearth I remember a friends husband years ago had all his pipes hung from the mantle of their massive fireplace the things that I remember, have a lovely weekend 😊.
2.34, 2.40, 6.27 (that chair brings me back to my childhood sitting on chairs like that in my uncles farmhouse)and finally 16.25. Thank you for bringing us with you. Will definitely go on a rummage trip soon now x
10:29 - those big cement urns! 😮 Normally when I go to salvage yards I like to go through all the hardware first. Vintage hooks, ornate doorknockers, and fun knobs and handles for cabinets are my jam.
Hello, Dainty from the Mississippi Gulf Coast in the US. I was so delighted to see a lovely musical porcelain little teapot at time stamp 17:19 which is an 'exact' copy of one I inherited from my grandmother. That little teapot was given to my grandmother by my mom & my little girl self in the 1960's. We gave it to her for mother's day. It plays the tune "Tea for Two" as you pour the tea and shuts off when you set the pot down. It was so nice to know that cute duplicate little pot is in Dublin, Ireland. 🙂
